A cozy morning, but so much smog that nothing can be seen. I got up early and went to the market with my cousin. There, I searched for paper, but most of the shops were closed and only a few were open. We searched for the things the Principal assigned us, but found nothing. He said, "Get copies of your education documents, your ID, and a domicile a legal paper proving that you are joining this place and write an application appealing to me for a teaching job. Put all these things in an old VIP cardboard file that is used for legal purposes."
It was impossible to find such a file anywhere in the whole market. Then my cousin said, "Leave it, come on, we will go to school with these things. Maybe you will get it there or they will be cooperative." I reached the school and met the man who first met me yesterday. I told him everything. He said, "We can't do anything. Ask the Principal." As he was coming, I immediately stood and explained my situation to the Principal. I said, "Sir, if I don't have a domicile, you can take my passport." He looked at me with strange eyes, as if asking, "Is she mad?" But in my mind, I was thinking that the documents he assigned me to bring made me feel like a criminal.
He said, "It's okay, don't worry. You gave what you have and we will continue with this, but please submit it completely in a VIP cardboard file. The file in your hand is not accepted. Until you submit it in a VIP cardboard file, your attendance in the register will not start and your pay will be cut." I really hate this file now. I thought, who are these people in this age, so old-fashioned? Like, what is that? He moved on, but suddenly he stopped, shook hands with my cousin, and said, "Now you go again to the upper side. Give this file tomorrow." I said to my cousin, "You go and I will call you." Unfortunately, my cousin was too young and we came here by auto because he doesn't know how to drive. My brother was angry, so he didn't help me.
He said, "Okay, I am going to visit my friend who lives near this school. From there, we will go for a long drive." I said, "Okay." Now I reached the upper portion. Here, near the mam's office, two women were sitting behind a curtain with a gas stove. I think they were making tea or warming themselves. One was the school cleaner and the other was an old teacher who takes some lectures and comes to the mam's office in her free time. They were behind the curtain, so they didn't know if anyone was sitting there or had come.
While I was sitting on the sofa, I listened to their talk about me. The cleaner said, "Where is Mam?" The teacher said, "She went to visit because, you know, the English alternative teacher is not decided yet." The cleaner said, "No, the girl who came yesterday, her interview was good. Mam was so happy. She even wrote something about her on paper, then went to the Principal's office." The teacher said, "You don't know what happened in the Principal's office. That's why she hasn't come yet. Maybe she failed the interview. She still hasn't come." I said, "I think you are talking about me."
A sudden silence fell, and they both put their heads out from behind the curtains and said, "Oh, you came! Where are you?" I stood up and they said, "Come, sit with us." I sat in front of the stove. They asked, "Want to take tea?" I said, "I don't like tea." The cleaner said, "Really? What type of girl are you?" I started laughing. Then the teacher said, "Cleaner, you go to mam and tell her that the girl came." She went outside. Meanwhile, the teacher started talking with me and said, "So finally you came, but so late."
Suddenly, I heard a voice beside me saying, "Where is she?" I turned and saw mam standing there. I stood up and she said, "Oh, where are you? Why so late? Thank God you came." I said, "I am completing my documents." She said, "Oh, it's okay, you can give them later. Since you are on trial, now go to your classes." She called the cleaner and said, "Show her her classes." The cleaner showed me the classes. It was Friday, a short day in my country, but they took all my lectures.
When I came back to mam's room, she asked about last interview with Principal and said, "What did the Principal ask?" I said, "He asked questions and talked with me." Suddenly mam said, "See miss, sir don't believe us," and laughed. She said, "Now, starting tomorrow, this is your timetable and these are your classes. The coordinator will show you all the syllabus." This day was pretty cool. I felt like I was flying. How could I find such cool colleagues? In the previous interview, the colleagues seemed totally artificial. But here, they were so genuine and polite. My other friends went for experience, but they never shared such things with me. I am so happy.
When I reached the school gate, I looked for my cousin but he hadn't come. I called him, but he didn't answer. So I called my brother, who came near the school and picked me up. I totally forgot that he didn't have any money, so I wondered how he reached home. I reached home and my mother asked, "Where is your cousin?" I said, "He told me he was on a long drive with his friend." My mother called him. I reached home at 1 o'clock and he reached at 3 o'clock. He was really angry. He said, "How could you do this to me? I don't have money. How did I reach here? Have you imagined?" I said, "I am sorry, I thought your friend had a car. I called my brother." He said angrily, "Now go to hell." I said, "I am sorry." He is our cousin brother, a nice person, but now I am feeling sad for him. I said, "Okay, tell me, I will buy you anything as an apology." He said, "Okay, let's drink a Pepsi, a cold drink." I said, "Okay." Then he came with the cold drink and we celebrated. He said, "So, for your first job!"
