Chapter 1 - IYA's Point of View

"It's been a while."

I said while gazing at the mountains. Everything is green. This little village found in a secluded area never fails to make you feel the spirit of nature.

I waved at the taxi and started to walk. Exactly three years had passed. I wonder how she is.

I decided to take a stroll and looked at various things on my way to my house.

The area is not that big and walking would ease my mind. I felt a sudden 'pang' of excitement as I saw the school. I chuckled at the thought of breaking in but still did it. As I walked through the rooms I had this sense of familiarity. I smiled as I skimmed everything. The board still has a slight line from a chalk. The desk looks old but clean. The summer heat beaming from the window. The halls empty. I checked everything. I stopped at a room that says '3-A'.

"This sure brings back memories."

I stood beside the teacher's desk and imagined the scene where I introduced myself as a transfer student three years ago. So long yet feels short. It feels like yesterday.

"Will she be on the rooftop?"

That thought popped out of nowhere. I brushed my hair back and smiled sadly as I thought of her. Despite the hesitation I still went there.

As I opened the door the wind blew. I scanned the whole rooftop reminiscing everything that happens in the past. Everything that I remembered. My side of the story.

I looked at a one tile on the rooftop. I remembered that there was a secret compartment there. So I opened it.

There sat an old old diary. Dust builded up beside it but the book is fine due to a plastic covering it.

'IYA's Point of View'.

The moment I read the words at the cover I was certain. It belongs to Iya.

I removed the plastic covering it and opened it. The first thing I saw was her self portrait. She was smiling and behind her was the view from the rooftop. I flipped again and saw a drawing of myself. I looked so young. So naive.

I smiled and flipped again. Now it was her own handwriting. It looks like a note. And some sort of introduction.

I'm Iya Larrine, currently 17. I was born and raised here at this humble village. I love drawing and writing. And I think I'm pretty good at it. I'm planning to write a diary for a whole year! Starting now. Oh btw, today is my birthday. May 22, not that it matters. I chose this day so next year would be the last year that I would be writing and drawing on it.

Note a year later...

This is for the only person who looked at me. It will contain drawings, notes, and everything. My side of the story. Something even 'that person' doesn't know. This will embody my feelings and thoughts. The words that I didn't get to say. The things I wished to do.

My point of view.
