Despite seeing Obito, Shisui was not panicked, not even a little. He already knew who Obito was, how his Kamui worked, and its limitations. For Shisui, Obito was merely a small, headache-inducing opponent, one who could temporarily prove problematic but not for long. Though Obito also possessed Hashirama's cells and Wood Release, these were also much less of a concern for Shisui. "Madara? Yeah, right, I believe you." Shisui said sarcastically. He already knew Obito's real identity, and he found his facade of trying to mimic Madara Uchiha somewhat ridiculous.
"Hm, you don't believe me? Well, it's only right, I need to prove it, right?" Obito calmly said, ignoring Shisui's sarcastic tone. "You probably find it hard to believe that I, Madara, am still alive." Saying this, Obito slowly walked towards Shisui, who in response raised his guard, also activating his Mangekyō Sharingan. But Obito merely scoffed and passed just within Shisui; he was in his intangible state, using Kamui. Obito tried to show his strength to prove to Shisui that he couldn't even touch him, the same way he did with Nagato once before.
Shisui sighed in relief, also understanding that Obito was at least not here to mess with him. 'Maybe he is here to offer me a job,' Shisui mused. 'A job at Akatsuki, but he has already come in front of Itachi, right? Would he still be trying to convince me here as well?' Obito turned back, his expressions were smug and a smirk played on his face, but hidden beneath the vortex mask, he was expecting a shocking expression on Shisui. But to his surprise, Shisui wasn't even surprised one bit; rather, he even deactivated his Mangekyō immediately, leaving Obito confused and a little angry.
"Believe it or not, I am Madara," Obito said, his voice laced with arrogance. "And I am here to asked you to join me. I have created an organization which has a single goal, the goal of true peace..." Shisui interrupted him and nodded nonchalantly, "Alright, I see. Okay." Obito once again felt his anger rising within him upon seeing and hearing Shisui's calm, nonchalant response.
"Tch, looks like you don't understand me, or maybe you aren't the person who wishes for peace in the world," Obito snorted, and then with a smirk, he said, "Well, I have already met with another one, you are quite close to him, Itachi Uchiha; he is more inclined for true peace. Maybe I should only focus on recruiting him."
And once again, the surprised look Obito expected from Shisui did not come. Moreover, in Shisui's silent response, Obito now felt like an idiot, but he still did not show his anger outwardly. Obito currently possessed enough strength to match five Kage of villages, especially with his Kamui and prowess he had gained thanks to Hashirama's cells transplanted by Madara. Even though he might not be able to defeat them all, he could definitely subdue them. Moreover, currently, the Yondaime Mizukage of Kirigakure was under Obito's control, boosting Obito's self-confidence in his strength.
Since Yagura was the current Jinchuriki of the Three-Tails, a perfect Jinchuriki at that. And Nagato, who proclaimed himself as God, also remained wary of Obito, boosting his self-confidence even further. And now, suddenly, he encountered a person who remained completely calm and had a carefree attitude in front of him, making his blood boil. Perhaps that wouldn't be the case if Shisui was quite strong, but Obito didn't believe Shisui was.
The only reason he came here to persuade Shisui into joining Akatsuki, which Shisui himself had already figured out, was either because Black and White Zetsu provided him information regarding that night's events, or perhaps he himself was present that night in Konoha under the shadows. 'If Obito was in Konoha that night, then he would definitely have killed a few Uchihas himself and taken their eyes,' Shisui recalled. 'But the only team of KMPF in the Uchiha Compound protecting others said there were no enemies enter, and all deceased from the Uchiha side are from Sarutobi Clan attacks only. Which means Obito only received news from Zetsu.'
But either way, Shisui knew one thing—Obito now also knew that both Fugaku and he had awakened Mangekyō Sharingan. And that was also the reason he personally visited Shisui tonight. "You want me to join your... Akatsuki organization?" Shisui asked, then pointing at his eyes, "That's really good that your goal is peace, but to achieve that, strength is obviously paramount, right? But my strength isn't enough, do you even know what my Mangekyō ability is?"
"Oh!" Obito chimed, thinking that Shisui had finally started to be influenced by his average speech about the goal of peace, which to him is top-notch, and said, "I don't know that yet, but come on, it's a Mangekyō Sharingan ability; no matter how you feel about it, it can never be weak, and your strength is enough to achieve the goal of peace with other members of Akatsuki."
"Oh, so you didn't know about my Mangekyō ability, huh?" Shisui smirked evilly upon hearing that currently Obito had no information about his Mangekyō Sharingan ability. "Kotoamatsukami!" Shisui declared, his eyes once again transforming into a four-pointed shuriken design, and he stared directly at Obito intently, using his Mangekyō Sharingan ability, Kotoamatsukami. Obito slightly flinched, seeing Shisui suddenly smirking and activating his Mangekyō.
He immediately put his guard up and made sure he was in his Kamui state, but strangely, he felt nothing. 'Did he just joke with me, or is his Mangekyō ability really weak, that there's no effect of it on me?' Obito questioned himself, not feeling the changes and thought process being rewritten slowly, without even him knowing. After all, that's how Kotoamatsukami works; it bypasses any defenses. Even if the enemy is conscious, Kotoamatsukami still works like unconscious manipulation. The enemy feels no awareness of it being cast on them; it has seamless integration without any chakra fluctuations.
Unlike standard or other Genjutsu, Kotoamatsukami doesn't create illusions or realistic illusions; rather, it only targets the internal thought process, altering it without even giving them the feeling that something's wrong. They feel that their altered thoughts are their own. Since that's how it works, Obito, despite being on guard, mentally prepared for any physical or mental attack, and his real self being in Kamui, was still being affected, without him even realizing. In essence, Kotoamatsukami isn't a battle of wills; it's a bypass of the will. It doesn't force a new thought; it becomes a new thought.
Obito had confidence that no Genjutsu could work on him, since his Sharingan was upgraded by Hashirama's cells, making its visual prowess higher than any Mangekyō, matching that of Eternal Mangekyō's, plus him being an Uchiha, giving him a natural higher Yin Release, making his Genjutsu resistance higher than normal. But all this failed against Shisui's Kotoamatsukami. A single use and one of the biggest future threats to the world and the Uchiha Clan, including Shisui himself, would be taken care of.
That's what Shisui thought just now, but that one use proved to be very costly; his left eye, which he had used to cast Kotoamatsukami, started to bleed, losing quite a lot of vision and visual prowess. 'What the heck is going on?' Shisui frowned, feeling that the visual power consumed for this current use was exceeding the normal level for one cast of Kotoamatsukami. The Kotoamatsukami was cast, and it consumed a lot of Chakra and Visual power from Shisui, much more than its normal level should be.
As a result, Shisui slammed onto his knees on the ground, covering his left eye with one hand, which was bleeding because of the use of Kotoamatsukami. While the use of Kotoamatsukami didn't usually result in bleeding, and even the original Shisui hadn't used Kotoamatsukami until now, he still knew that the consumption of his visual power and vision was much, much higher than it was supposed to be.
'Maybe the reason for the bleeding in the eye and higher consumption of visual power is because Obito has Hashirama's cells, making his Genjutsu resistance much higher,' Shisui contemplated with an internal nod. 'Yeah, that's a more plausible explanation for this.' He then looked at Obito with his right eye; anticipation bubbled in him. Kotoamatsukami was cast, but whether it worked on Obito or not was still unsure. Though Shisui felt that it did, he was still anticipating.
"Shisui-sama, what happened?" Obito said, rushing towards Shisui quickly, trying to help him get up. Shisui sighed and grinned. 'It's freaking worked, haha!' Shisui momentarily forgot his vision loss in his left eye and started to laugh heartily. Obito was in his intangible state, feeling invulnerable, feeling himself safe from any physical and mental attacks. But he didn't even feel that he had already been taken down; Shisui took care of one of the antagonists of the Naruto anime without lifting a finger. A single use of Kotoamatsukami and Obito was subdued.
But this also came with a great cost; his left eye lost more than half its vision, plus he currently couldn't use Kotoamatsukami from his left eye for a long time. Shisui had instilled a belief in Obito that made Obito unconditionally loyal to him, viewing Shisui as ''God''. Since it worked, Shisui even felt that the immense cost to his visual power was worth this chance.
But suddenly, he frowned once again and immediately asked Obito, "Obito, was Zetsu with you currently, when you came here to me?" If Black Zetsu had seen the current scene unfolding here, he would immediately understand that Shisui had done something to Obito with his Mangekyō. Since Black Zetsu also knew about Shisui awakening and possessing Mangekyō Sharingan.
"No, he wasn't," Obito responded, shaking his head in denial. "I came alone to meet you and request you to join Akatsuki." Shisui nodded, sighed heavily in relief, and said, "Let's just come inside for now." Both immediately went inside Shisui's house. Shisui only made Obito see him as God and made him unconditionally loyal to him, but the remaining things were still the same—Obito's desire to fulfill the Eye of the Moon plan and his unconditional love for Rin were all still there. Since Shisui only choose this single belief in Obito and nothing else.
Later, once Shisui's left eye's bleeding stopped and his vision started to restore a little, not healing but restoring back to his current level now. Upon use, he suddenly felt like losing eyesight from his left eye, while knowing that visual power was only used more than half, not completely. Shisui sent back Obito with a few orders—one, Obito had to come every three days to him to report about everything going on in Akatsuki and world matters; two, Obito should never tell anyone about Shisui and his loyalty to Shisui. Third and last for now, Obito wouldn't attack or target the Uchiha Clan anymore, and also not Konoha.
Now, even if Obito wanted to refuse Shisui, he couldn't because of the unconditional loyalty he had for Shisui now, which made him only obey him like a loyal follower. "Hah, I now only have one use of Kotoamatsukami for now," Once Obito was gone, Shisui sighed, "But that's only until I find a proper way to take care of it, once and for all getting free from the blindness and cooldown issue." Then he contemplated ways that could cure the Mangekyō's blindness issue and improve its visual power.
"Oh, from Mangekyō, I remember," Shisui stated, upon recalling, "I forgot to ask what kind of Mangekyō technique Fugaku has. Well, I will ask him later on." Just the next moment, another thought came into his mind. "But if Fugaku has Mangekyō even in anime, then what happened to his eyes?" Shisui mused.
"There are only three people who could be in possession of Fugaku's Mangekyō in the anime—Danzo, Obito, and Itachi. Out of them, Danzo is completely out; if he had Fugaku's Mangekyō, he would definitely have shown and use it. While the same then goes for Obito, though he would keep it secret, which leaves only Itachi." Shisui contemplated, "But if Itachi was in possession of Fugaku's Mangekyō, then he should have made his Mangekyō an Eternal Mangekyō, and directly given Eternal Mangekyō to Sasuke in the anime."
"Maybe he destroyed his father's and mother's eyes so no one could target their corpse for their Sharingan," Shisui mused. "Well, that might be the case, as Itachi himself might not know that his father has Mangekyō. Fugaku really knows how to keep secrets, I suppose. Well, let's go back to the main topic." He once again thought about ways of healing Mangekyō's blindness issue and improving their visual power.
"One is to transplant Mangekyō of close direct blood relatives to gain Eternal Mangekyō, and the second is transplanting Hashirama's cells, which is a very risky process, chances of death includes" Shisui contemplated. "For me, the first way is a no-go; I don't even have any single direct blood-related person, let alone one with Mangekyō, which leaves me with Hashirama's cells transplantation."
"The process of Hashirama's cells transplantation is very risky and deadly, but now I have Obito under my command; maybe he might help me with that," Shisui considered. "Well, that would work. I will ask Obito next time how much risk and chances of success I have. Maybe with him, I might really have 100% success rate, but alas, that's for later. Now I should sleep. I even need to work on the Jutsu I learned from the Scroll of Seals, especially Edo Tensei to finish off Danzo completely." Shisui glanced at the moon outside the room's window before drifting to sleep.
