Chapter 5 - Episode 5 :-The Web of Truth

[Scene: Night – Mumbai Crime Archives Division]

The fluorescent lights flickered in the silence of the archive room. Lucy was alone, elbow-deep in dusty files, cross-referencing data from unsolved murders. Her mind raced as she muttered to herself.

Lucy (murmuring):

"Same knife pattern… same location clusters… and no signs of forced entry. The 3-year-old murders... the same precision. But Pathan claimed those cases were solved."

She laid out crime scene photos across a massive corkboard. A pattern emerged—a triangle connecting old lab zones, former government workers, and private research facilities.

Lucy (whispering):

"These weren't random killings. They were systematic. And the real murderer was never caught..."

Her hand paused on a blurry figure in CCTV footage from 3 years ago—broad shoulders, fast movements, black hoodie. She zoomed in. The eye glow—blue.

Lucy:

"Shurya. He's not new... he was there all along. His Discription Is Matches The Past One"

She turned to her notebook and underlined the word:

"False Reports by Pathan?"

[Scene: Rooftop – Abandoned Factory Area]

Rain pounded the rooftop as Shurya stood in a black raincoat, watching over the city. His wounds from the fight with Rav were still fresh, but his focus was elsewhere. He clutched an old photograph in his gloved hand—two boys smiling in front of a playground: Khan and Pathan.

Shurya (to himself):

"You were my brother... what made you betray me?"

He opened a crumpled note left behind by Rav:

> "They made me into this… You're next. There's another."

Shurya:

"Another? Like me?"

Suddenly, a bullet whizzed past his head. He rolled to the side, drawing a hidden blade from his belt. From behind a chimney, a tall, armored figure emerged.

Assassin:

"Target: Subject-09. Orders from Vikrant. Terminate with precision."

Shurya (smirking):

"Finally, a real challenge."

They clashed across the rooftop—flashing blades, explosive impact, sparks flying in the rain. Mid-fight, Shurya's reflexes accelerated unnaturally, dodging bullets with micro-movements. He activated his Adaptive Combat ability—memorizing every move of the assassin in seconds.

Shurya:

"You were trained. Not created. That's your weakness."

With a final move, Shurya paralyzed the assassin with a pressure-point strike and whispered,

"Tell Vikrant... I'm coming."

[Scene: Police HQ – Lucy Confronts Pathan]

Lucy entered the HQ with a storm in her eyes. Pathan was finishing a press statement regarding the Khan threat.

Lucy (to Pathan):

"We need to talk. Now."

Pathan (calmly):

"This isn't the time—"

Lucy:

"Save it. I know the truth about the 3-year-old murders. They were never solved. And the killer? You faked the reports."

Pathan's smile faded.

Lucy:

"You covered up Shurya's past... or you were part of it."

Pathan (coldly):

"You don't understand the stakes here, Lucy. He's dangerous. I'm trying to protect him… and everyone else."

Lucy:

"By painting your best friend as a terrorist? I thought you were his brother."

Pathan:

"I was. But things changed the day Dr. Vikrant took us. You want the truth? You think I wanted to betray him? You think I enjoyed turning the country against him?"

A long pause.

Lucy (softly):

"Then tell me… what happened during your missing years? Where were you?"

Pathan (hesitating):

"I… I was in a facility. Experimented on. Trained. Controlled. I only came back when they let me out—with a badge and orders."

Lucy's expression hardened.

Lucy:

"So you've been Vikrant's puppet all along."

Pathan (bitterly):

"Until now. I'm cutting the strings."

Lucy left in silence, but the seeds of distrust were planted deeper than ever.

[Scene: Abandoned Church – Hidden Underground Base]

Dr. Vikrant leaned over a holographic map. Beside him, the restrained assassin Shurya defeated sat in chains.

Dr. Vikrant (to himself):

"Shurya's progressing too fast. The personalities are stabilizing. If he gains full control… we're done."

Location: Abandoned Factory, Edge of Mumbai City – Midnight

A light drizzle taps against rusted steel, the abandoned factory soaked in shadow and secrecy. Detective Lucy, dressed in a long coat and boots, walks cautiously through the dim corridors, her flashlight flickering as it lands on rusted barrels and broken machinery. Her expression is sharp, determined—she's been chasing this lead for weeks.

Lucy (muttering to herself):

"Three years ago… five murders. No witnesses, no survivors—except one. And now he's resurfaced."

She reaches a small storage room. Inside, trembling but alert, sits Samar, the lone survivor from the old murder case. His face is gaunt, eyes sunken, haunted by memory.

Lucy:

"You remember me. I came to the hospital three years ago. You said you saw the killer… but your statement was buried."

Samar (nervously):

"I tried to tell them. He wore a mask—but the eyes, I'll never forget. Cold. Calculated. Like he didn't blink. They told me to stay quiet. They said I imagined it."

Lucy pulls out a faded photograph of Khan and places it on the table.

Lucy:

"Is this the man who attacked your group that night?"

Samar studies the image—his lips tighten and he shakes his head.

Samar:

"No. It wasn't him. I swear, it wasn't Khan. But I recognize the man in uniform from the hallway that night…"

Lucy freezes. Her breath catches. The tension in the air turns icy.

Lucy (in disbelief):

"You mean… Pathan?"

Samar nods solemnly.

Before she can react further, the steel door SLAMS open with a harsh clang. The flashlight flickers as shadows spill inward.

Pathan steps inside, cloaked in black, his badge glinting under the dull light, but his face dark—no longer the childhood friend, no longer the decorated officer.

Pathan (calmly):

"You've learned too much, Lucy."

Lucy:

"You were behind the murders, weren't you? Three years ago… and you framed Khan."

Pathan:

"I had no choice. It was orders from Dr. Vikrant. And now you're tampering with things far bigger than you understand."

Before Lucy can reach for her gun, Pathan raises his weapon and fires twice.

Samar drops instantly—dead.

Lucy dives behind a pillar, one bullet grazing her arm. Blood drips but she clamps her jaw, struggling through the pain. Heart racing, she crawls through the shadows, her hand over the wound.

Pathan (shouting):

"You should've stopped when you had the chance. Now you're a liability."

Lucy manages to reach the back exit. She bursts out of the factory into the rain-soaked alley, breath ragged, disappearing into the night.

[Next Morning – Nashik Police Headquarters]

Press cameras flash. News reporters gather. Pathan, now in uniform, steps onto the podium with stern resolve.

Pathan (public announcement):

"As of this morning, I am issuing a nationwide alert. Two individuals—Khan and Detective Lucy—are now officially marked as threats to national security. They are involved in violent activities, possible terrorism, and are to be apprehended immediately."

Gasps spread through the room. But behind the cameras, Lucy watches from a rooftop nearby, gripping her bleeding arm, eyes burning with betrayal.

Lucy (to herself):

"You were supposed to protect people, but You Are A Puppet, Pathan. Now I know who the real enemy is…"

She vanishes into the night.

[Scene Sift to a Village Village – 7 Days Later]

Khan woke with a gasp. His head throbbed. He looked around—crumbling buildings, no signal, farmers walking by. He stumbled out of the hut and saw his phone blinking. 24 missed calls. 42 notifications. Then a headline:

> "National Threat Declared: College Student with Split Personality Wanted for Serial Murders – Pathan Issues Statement"

His heart sank.

Khan (weakly):

"Pathan... you betrayed me again?"

As he scrolled through the video footage of Shurya's rooftop fight, a memory flashed—brief glimpses of the assassin's blade, his own hands dripping with blood.

Khan:

"What… what have I done?"

Suddenly, he heard a voice.

Shurya (inside his head):

"You didn't do anything. I did. You're just too weak to accept it."

Khan:

"No. You're wrong. This is my body. My mind."

Shurya laughed darkly.
