A Level 1 stands absolutely no chance against a Level 2; that's what Eina had warned Arthas. When Arthas had curiously asked about the difference between Level 1 and Level 2, Eina had used the words "a world of difference."
So, under normal circumstances, when a Level 1 is attacked by a Level 2 monster, running away is the first choice, right?
But Arthas was clearly not normal, or rather, his thought process differed greatly from that of normal people.
Upon discovering the Level 2 Minotaur approaching, Arthas hesitated, unsure whether he should run.
First, he'd gone to so much trouble to finally find a monster, and running away would be frustrating. Second, he wanted to see the strength of a Level 2 monster.
After all, Eina was right that a Level 1 couldn't defeat a Level 2. How could he be sure without trying?
Soon, Arthas didn't need to worry. The Minotaur that had roared on the tenth floor had reached the ninth, its massive body blocking Arthas's path.
It was a minotaur, twice Arthas's size, wielding a huge axe. The moment it spotted Arthas, it attacked ferociously.
The sharp whoosh of the axe made Arthas squint. He could see the attack's trajectory, but dodging was incredibly difficult.
His body couldn't keep up with his brain's reaction speed… that was Arthas's immediate feeling. He could clearly see the attack's trajectory; he just needed to evade it, but he found his body couldn't react fast enough.
It must be because his stats were too low, right?
Even in this life-or-death situation, Arthas had time to think such things. Although he didn't completely dodge the Minotaur's attack, his effort prevented him from being cleaved in half.
The huge axe narrowly missed Arthas, cleaving into the ground. The fierce wind and the force of the blow sent stones flying like bullets, striking Arthas's body. The impact sent him sprawling.
Though bruised, he was still alive.
He'd been a little too presumptuous; he was completely helpless.
The Minotaur, having delivered that ferocious blow, didn't press its advantage. The huge monster panted heavily, as if the attack had exhausted it.
This was clearly abnormal. A Minotaur, a monster of immense strength, shouldn't be exhausted by such a weak blow.
Standing up and keeping his distance, Arthas noticed the Minotaur was covered in wounds, as if it had fled from somewhere.
So that's it… It must have been chased by adventurers and fled from the fifteenth floor.
But even if the Minotaur was exhausted and wounded, Arthas was no match for it. The difference between Level 1 and Level 2 was truly a world of difference.
Having analyzed this from the Minotaur's attack, Arthas didn't hesitate to run.
The Minotaur, roaring, pursued him, wielding its axe. Having been chased by humans until now, it wouldn't let Arthas go.
As he ran, Arthas realized how weak his body was. Weak and powerless, a short burst of running pushed him to his limits.
Realizing he'd reached his limit, Arthas stopped running, turned, and faced the pursuing Minotaur.
Death was imminent, yet Arthas felt strangely calm.
"Strange… why am I not afraid?"
Looking at the panting Minotaur approaching step by step, Arthas wondered. In his hand was a ridiculously small dagger. According to his analysis, his physical stats against the Minotaur meant zero chance of winning—in other words, certain death.
"But… why don't I feel any fear?"
Muttering to himself, Arthas raised his dagger towards the approaching Minotaur.
Seeing the weak human resist, the intelligent Minotaur's crimson eyes showed disdain. The beast stepped forward, crushing the ground. The tremors made Arthas unsteady.
Arthas remained unmoved. Something ominous brewed in his black eyes. A cold wind swept through the Dungeon passage, and fine frost covered the tunnel walls.
The Minotaur raised its axe towards Arthas's hand clutching the dagger.
A sharp crack. The dagger and axe didn't collide, but Arthas's dagger shattered in mid-air, like breaking ice, the fragments falling from his hand.
The axe didn't fall. A crimson line sliced across the Minotaur's body.
"Whuh?"
The Minotaur made a clumsy sound.
The line didn't just slice through its torso and chest but also its legs, arms, shoulders, and finally its neck, all in one swift motion.
A silver light bloomed before Arthas's eyes. His eyes now completely ice-blue, Arthas reached out like lightning, seizing the silver light.
"Eh…"
A surprised, melodious voice echoed from beyond the monster's severed body. The Minotaur's flesh, which should have shattered into pieces, slowly solidified in mid-air.
White frost mixed with the blood, forming a sickeningly thick substance.
The Minotaur's body, which should have exploded into a bloody mist, remained in its shattered state, frozen into an ice sculpture.
