Chapter 9 - Quirk Assessment Test

[U.A. Testing Grounds – Quirk Assessment Test]

Professor Aizawa announced the start of the test.

"Three stages: long jump, ball throw, and strength. Control, not overkill."

Mirio smiled at me.

"Let's see what you've got, Revan."

Long Jump

Mirio went first. With a confident grin, he blurred across the field, using his Permeation quirk to land far ahead.

When it was my turn, I gave a light push. I didn't even try hard — I just tossed my body forward and used flight to glide — I landed near the edge of the field.

Mirio raised his eyebrows at me, half amused.

"Take it easy, you won't beat me that easily."

Ball Throw

Mirio threw the ball, and it flew across the field like it belonged there, landing perfectly on target.

Then it was my turn. I picked up the ball, adjusted my grip like I was throwing a javelin.

"Careful, this might vanish," I joked.

I used all my strength and launched the ball straight into the sky.

It disappeared beyond the field, like a shooting star.

Nejire shouted, excited:

"Whoa ! Revan, that went way too far !"

Tamaki frowned, concerned.

"Don't overdo it… you'll cause trouble."

Mirio laughed, shaking his head.

"Only you, Revan. Throwing the ball into space ? What's next, you gonna fly up there and get it back ?"

"If I have to, I will," I replied with a grin.

Strength Test

Mirio lifted the bar with ease, showing solid technique and endurance.

Nejire held on with determination, while Tamaki used his tentacles to help balance himself.

When it was my turn, I lifted the bar with one hand, effortlessly.

Mirio looked impressed.

"Seriously ? It's that easy for you ?"

"Easy, but I'm not here just to show off strength," I answered, lowering the bar and pointing to the others.

"The real challenge is control — helping those who need it. Being at the top doesn't mean crushing everyone else."

Nejire smiled.

"I agree. You've already shown that."

Tamaki gave a small, shy smile.

"Looks like we'll really have to push ourselves."

After the Test

Mirio patted my shoulder.

"You're a weird guy. But in a good way."

Nejire jumped with excitement.

"I can't wait to see what else you'll do !"

Tamaki simply nodded, his gaze filled with respect.

Aizawa crossed his arms, stepping forward.

"Test complete. Now comes the part where we see who truly has control. But one thing's already clear — Revan, you're not an ordinary first-year."

[Training Room – After the Test]

Professor Aizawa paced slowly through the room, arms crossed, observing the students' faces — tired, discouraged, many hadn't even really tried.

"You think you came here to play ?" His voice cut through the silence. "This test was meant to show who takes their quirk seriously. Who controls their power, not just uses it."

A murmur of protest began.

"But sir, I tried !" a student said, voice shaking.

"I gave it my best !" another girl shouted.

He raised his hand, silencing the room.

"What I saw was the opposite. Many of you didn't give your all. That's not how things work at U.A."

He paused, eyes sharp as he scanned each one.

"That's why I'm expelling — from the training room and the class — everyone who didn't show real commitment."

Tension surged.

"What ?!" several shouted, shocked.

"This isn't fair !" a boy slammed his desk.

"But what about our dreams ?" a girl cried out.

Aizawa didn't flinch.

"Dreams require effort. If you're not ready for that, this isn't the place for you."

Then he pointed at four students still standing.

"Revan, Mirio, Nejire, and Tamaki — you stay. You're the only ones who showed control and drive."

The others were told to leave, stunned and downcast.

Mirio smiled, lightly tapping my shoulder.

"Looks like it's just us on this journey."

Nejire laughed.

"Even better ! Makes the challenge more fun."

Tamaki nodded seriously.

"Time to raise the bar."

I took a deep breath, looking out at the now-empty field.

'This is only the beginning,' I thought. 'And I won't leave anyone behind.'
