"What did you say? A new Batman just appeared in Hell's Kitchen?!"
Fury's hand was still encased in a thick cast, as stiff as Doraemon's hand, but his mood was far from cheerful. Listening to Coulson's report, he felt not only his hand aching, but also his heart!
"Yes, Chief. All eyewitnesses say the person was wearing all black, with a wide cape, and a black hooded mask with two small pointed ears on his face!" Coulson reported in a serious tone.
"You think this is a comic book? Or some Batman fan's prank?!" Fury growled in disbelief.
"No, Chief. I think that person is Kurohane..." Coulson stood amidst the police tape surrounding the crime scene. Corpses lay scattered in the narrow alley, a sight that made him dizzy. They had all been killed by gunshot wounds to the head, splatters of blood and brain matter decorating the walls. Bags on the ground were open, filled with suspicious white powder, while suitcases lay gaping, revealing stacks of dollar bills. When the police arrived, they immediately concluded it was a drug deal gone wrong between gangs. In Hell's Kitchen, transactions of 'laundry detergent' or gang fights were nothing new, but a case with no survivors like this was still rare! And all these victims had criminal records with the police, some even fugitives. Strangely, the suspicious powder and dollar bills at the scene were untouched by anyone. Clearly, a third party was involved, but the only trace left behind was a bat symbol spray-painted in black on the wall. Similar symbols had appeared five times this month, and the NYPD was overwhelmed, so the case was handed over to higher-ups, eventually reaching S.H.I.E.L.D..
Coulson stared at the bat symbol on the wall and felt his blood pressure rise slightly. Kurohane's locker in the S.H.I.E.L.D. locker room was crammed with Superman and Batman comics, clearly indicating he was a big fan of the Dark Knight. Then, looking at the one-shot headshot method of killing at the scene, Kurohane clearly wasn't following Batman's no-killing rule; his focus was on decisive and efficient action!
"So, Kurohane hasn't been idle. After leaving S.H.I.E.L.D., he chose to enforce his own version of justice. Where the equipment came from doesn't matter. With his superb shooting skills, even a firearm he picked up off the street can be lethal with a single shot," Coulson rubbed the black bat symbol on the wall with his hand and sighed helplessly.
Fury on the other end of the phone also sighed. Kurohane should have been the first member of his Avengers Initiative, but after all the previous incidents, he had also launched an internal investigation into the Skrulls and found that Kurohane was right. There were indeed some Skrulls causing trouble behind the scenes, trying to control the country completely, and some had even managed to infiltrate Congress! Including the Skrull Kurohane had killed with a single shot, that person had actually been using his behind-the-scenes position to issue many orders that benefited his race, and some of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s research results were also stolen, including Dr. Bruce Banner's Hulk serum!!! Only then did Fury realize his mistake. Everything Kurohane had said turned out to be true. Now the situation was critical; Kurohane was like a ferocious tiger that had escaped its cage. Although he might not harm ordinary people, his approach was 'better to kill the wrong person than to let the right one go'. If not dealt with quickly, Hell's Kitchen would sooner or later disappear from the map because of him!
"I understand. You come back from the scene first," Fury finally said, ending Coulson's call. He then dialed another number. "Got time to go out for coffee?"
"I never drink coffee with men," a woman's voice replied on the other end in a cold tone.
"Then how about a bar?" Fury offered, trying his luck.
"..."
"You have to give me a chance to apologize!" Fury urged.
"No. Goodbye!" the woman replied firmly, then hung up the phone.
Beep beep beep...
Listening to the busy tone on the phone, Fury's heart and head ached simultaneously. Kurohane hadn't concealed his whereabouts at all after leaving S.H.I.E.L.D.. First, he went to Tony Stark's villa, then returned to his own apartment. After that, without making any noise, he would leave home every night and return the next day, only going out to buy food, watch TV, and sleep. Sometimes, he would even take the initiative to knock on the door of the apartment across the hall and inform the agents watching him that he had returned, even clearly telling the agents that if they couldn't catch him in action, he would continue to do this!
Fury felt helpless and was forced to call Kurohane again. "Kurohane, if you continue like this, I will deploy agents to your home to arrest you!" Fury threatened.
"Then come and arrest me! I'll be waiting for you! Remember to tell your people to buy insurance, and list your name as the beneficiary, who knows, you might make another profit! Remember my words, come on, kill one!" Kurohane replied mockingly, completely unfazed by Fury's threat. Ever since his last cooperation with Tony, he and Tony possessed all of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s 'sins', all the bad things they had done. Revealing just one of them was enough to disband the entire organization! Fury, as the Director who would bear all the blame, would face a minimum sentence of twenty years in prison! After all, it was Hydra who committed all those crimes, and the chain of evidence for their actions had been secured, trying to make Fury bear the consequences when S.H.I.E.L.D. was exposed!
More importantly for Kurohane, through his hard work this month, he had finally accumulated the 100 Justice Points needed for a series draw and obtained his fourth skill!
[Bullet Time: There's always a little blood in your adrenaline!]
This skill came from the early movie "Wanted", where the protagonist, a young version of Professor X, was able to release a large amount of adrenaline in a short period, accelerating his heartbeat, slowing down the world in his eyes, and increasing his physical reaction speed. Even fired bullets could be seen with the naked eye and dodged! Since Kurohane acquired this skill, he had only used it once, using two M9 pistols to shoot simultaneously, killing five criminals in one second. However, after using it, his heart suddenly stopped beating, his vision went dark, and he staggered and fell to the ground. If he hadn't killed all the criminals at that time, Kurohane might have ended up in the morgue! His body was still too weak, and although he trained hard... he couldn't train his heart! However, this skill was enough as a last resort to save his life! Even if someone pointed a gun at his head, Kurohane was confident he could dodge the bullet and shoot his opponent dead!
Doo doo doo doo~~~~
The phone rang again, and Kurohane felt Fury was really annoying. Just as he was about to hang up, he saw the phone number in front of him and reluctantly answered. Pepper's anxious voice came from the other end of the line.
"Hello, is this Kurohane? Tony seems to have been kidnapped by robots!"
Kurohane: (???)
