Chapter 14 - Amid the Chaos – The Healers' Stand

Mohan's Team: The Shield and the Flame

As chaos erupted across the campus and the sky crackled with Akash's lightning, Mohan, Sathish, Akshay, Gowtham, and Lavanya sprinted toward the collapsed 6.1 dorm, where cries for help echoed through the air.

Sathish used his telekinesis to lift a fallen beam, revealing trapped students.

"Lavanya, burn that debris—carefully!" Sathish shouted.

Lavanya extended her arms, her hands flickering with flame. With delicate precision, she burned away the jagged wood and tangled wires, freeing three injured students.

"Akshay, wrap your body around the unstable structure," Mohan ordered. "Your elastic physique can absorb shock. Keep it from falling while we pull them out!"

Akshay gritted his teeth and stretched his body, coiling around a cracked pillar like a giant rubber band. "Hurry!"

Gowtham, now half-transformed into a bull-like form, used his muscular body to carry the rescued students to safety.

Then came the growl.

From the hostel's second floor leaped a four-meter-tall ape monster, its arms as thick as tree trunks, eyes blood-red. It roared, sending shockwaves through the ruined structure.

Mohan's eyes narrowed.

"I'll take point!"

His metal skin gleamed, reflecting the sunlight as he stepped forward. The monster charged, fists raised.

Boom!

The clash echoed like thunder as metal fists met monster claws. Mohan held the creature off, inch by inch.

"Lavanya, burn its legs!" Sathish said, raising his hand to lift chunks of concrete with telekinesis and hurling them at the monster's head.

Flames erupted around the monster's legs, searing its flesh. It screamed and tried to escape, but Akshay stretched upward and wrapped around its neck like a rope, pulling it back.

"Now, Gowtham!" Mohan shouted.

The bull-charged Gowtham lowered his head and rammed into the monster's stomach, sending it crashing into a broken wall.

Mohan didn't hesitate.

He jumped, his fists glowing with power. "Meteor Punch!"

His punch landed square on the beast's skull—crack!

It dropped, twitching once—then lay still.

Everyone exhaled.

They regrouped, covered in dust and blood, but alive.

"Let's check the lower floors," Mohan said. "There might be more survivors."

Lavanya, panting, smiled. "We're not done yet."

With Mohan leading, they pressed on—a team of courage, strength, and heart, ready to protect those who couldn't protect themselves.

______________

While Akash battled golden eagle in the sky, the ground was no less of a warzone.

Around the A Building, the once orderly registration area had turned into a makeshift medical base. Broken walls, shattered glass, and burned-out patches of earth marked where monsters had rampaged before being driven back.

Dozens of injured civilians and students lay on the ground—some unconscious, some screaming, some on the brink of death. The stench of blood and scorched flesh filled the air.

Sneha, standing in the middle, her hands glowing with gentle golden light, was drenched in sweat. Her brows furrowed, lips trembling in focus as she channeled Angel's Blessing, healing a student with a large gash across his chest.

"Next!" she called out, voice firm despite her exhaustion.

Two volunteers gently brought forward a young girl whose legs had been crushed under falling debris. Sneha knelt down, eyes softening.

"I'll try... hold on, little one."

Golden light surged again—but weaker this time. Her power was running low.

"Stop. Minor injuries go to the others! Sneha focuses on life-threatening cases only!" shouted Haritha, who was overseeing operations with calm authority. Her Spirit Eyes flickered, detecting energy levels and hidden dangers around the perimeter.

Three other Rank 1 healers worked nearby, using weaker regenerative techniques or herbs they'd prepared earlier. They were pale and trembling, unaccustomed to this level of crisis.

"We need more hands here! This man's bleeding out!" shouted one as she held pressure to a soldier's severed arm.

"I'll do what I can." said another, hands shaky as she tried to stabilize him.

Suddenly, a blast shook the outer wall, sending students flying. A giant beetle monster had broken through the defenses.

"Shield users, front now! Defend the injured!" Haritha barked.

The junior boy with energy shield ability ran forward and summoned a dome shield, blocking the beetle's next strike just in time. Behind him, non-combat students formed a barrier circle, holding poles, stones, or just ready to throw fire and ice abilities.

The healers didn't stop. Even while roars echoed around them and rubble fell, Sneha and her team kept working.

A critically injured boy grabbed Sneha's hand, whispering weakly, "Am I... gonna die?"

She smiled softly, golden tears forming at the corner of her eyes. "Not today."

She placed her hand over his heart and whispered a chant.

"Heal. Rise. Live."

His pulse stabilized. Color returned to his cheeks. Around them, a wave of hope spread.
