Chapter 15 - Turning the tide

As awakened fighters across the campus joined forces, a few exceptional individuals stood out amid the chaos:

A Russian man, partially transformed with white tiger traits, dashed through waves of wolf-like monsters, tearing through them with sharp claws and unmatched strength. By his side, a Russian girl froze the beasts mid-charge with spears and storms of glacial ice, her presence a chilling force of nature.

On the opposite side of the battlefield, a Chinese man with a phoenix transformation soared through the skies, his fiery wings ablaze. He dived into flocks of mutated eagles and black crow-like creatures, scorching them to ashes—some humorously resembling crispy fried chicken by the time they hit the ground.

Meanwhile, at the stadium, a different kind of strategy unfolded. Many beasts lay asleep, unaffected by the noise of battle. Above them hovered a Japanese woman with delicate butterfly-like wings, gracefully gliding through the air. From her wings spread a shimmering powder, a natural sedative that sent monsters into a deep sleep. Her friends, equipped with masks and cloths covering their mouths, swiftly killing the sleeping beasts, turning the tide in their favor without wasting energy.

Above the Ocean

The corpse of the massive spiky tortoise floated lifelessly on the waves, marking the end of one of the ocean's greatest threats.

In the sky, I faced the burned and injured golden eagle, my body bloodied and bruised, my energy drained. If not for my Viltrumite physique, I wouldn't have lasted this long. Still, I realized bitterly that my body was far weaker than the comic versions—maybe a diluted version of a Viltrumite—but I hoped one day I'd grow strong enough to match them.

The eagle shrieked and dived with terrifying speed.

I rose into the dark thunderclouds, using them as cover. Then, with a burst of power, I ambushed from above, landing a crushing punch on one of its wings, snapping bones and sending it spiraling. I narrowly dodged its razor-sharp claws, leaving bloody trails on my side.

As it plummeted, off balance, I chased after it.

The eagle crashed into the coastal mountain. Without hesitation, I flew down and with a final surge of strength, landed a full-powered kick to its neck. The impact snapped its spine, killing it instantly. Blood splashed onto my face, warm and heavy. My body trembled. My leg fractured slightly from the recoil.

Exhausted, in pain, and completely drained, I collapsed near the corpse, breathing heavily. My body throbbed, but the healing had begun. Slowly. Painfully.

The End of the Battle

With the golden eagle's death, the monsters that had rampaged across the region stopped.

The surviving beasts turned tail, retreating into forests and vanishing into the skies, instinctively aware that the tide had turned. Only a few stragglers remained—beasts too dumb or enraged to flee—who were easily dispatched by the now-united awakened fighters.

The battle was over.

Cheers erupted from every corner of the city and campus.

But in one quiet spot near the mountain coast, Akash lay alone, bloodied and barely conscious.

Only a few of his closest friends—Mohan, Haritha, Praveen, Sivaranjini, Dhaya, and Rohith—stood silently, eyes searching the distant sky, hearts anxious, waiting for their friend's return, unsure of what state he was in.
