Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: Space element crystal

Outside military residence. Harry and Alan showed their ID and were allowed to pass after their parents informed the guards of their arrival.

Soon both arrived at the residence. Alan saw his mother as he got out of the hover car. He ran and jumped into her embrace. Last time he saw her was three to four months ago. He had missed her alot.

"Haha come inside both of you. Father has been waiting for you" said Lucy, Alan's mother.

"Okay…" said Harry and Alan.

It's been a long time since they spent the new year together. As one gets stronger the responsibilities increase with it. They got deployed more often with the increasing

"Haha I heard you passed the special class trial and got recruited into Titans guild like your brother. Come here tell me more about it" said Michael as he pulled his son Alan closer.

Alan shared his experience from awakening to the time he passed the class selection trial, and how he aced the special recruitment assessment and bagged the SSS tier contract.

Both his parents were surprised when he told them about his affinity assessment and the SSS tier special contract.

Getting a ten star rating for an elemental affinity is a very great thing, let alone the fact that that element happens to be the legendary Space element. Both were very happy hearing this.

They initially had thought Alan would have 8 star elemental affinity like his brother. Who would have thought that things would turn out like this.

"Good good that is great. What are your plans about the mysterious nine star element?"

" Guild elders said they will make arrangements for that…" said Alan

They had to wait a while as although 10,000 gold origin coins is not that a big amount for the guild, it was still a large enough amount which needed to go through some formalities before being taken from the guild vault.

"They said they will bring him to the crystal monument the day after tomorrow." Said Harry

"How come I didn't know…" Alan was hearing this for the first time.

"Oh, they said to inform you this morning. I forgot to tell you… hehe…" said Harry

Soon their mother prepared the dishes on the table and they had Lunch together. Alan and Harry were happy the entire time.

After lunch as they were having a chat Harry asked " I heard it is hard getting a transfer especially during this monster tide season how did dad and mom get it?"

"That's easy we broke through to tier 4. We thought since you were here and Alan will follow you here after awakening we applied a transfer to this city so that we can see you both more" said Alan's mom

Both Harry and Alan were surprised by this revelation. They both thought they were at the initial levels of the third stage. "How come…" Alan was flabbergasted.

"We were actually grinding our elemental and force mastery. We long had enough qualification to advance but we had other plans so we had to delay. Once we were done with that we leveled up in one go and went through the tier advancement in one go." Alan's dad said.

He then went on and described his adventures and achievements in the army.

Soon the evening came. "Alright, our break is about to end. We still have some pending work left after our transfer so we have to go soon" said Lucy as Alan and Harry were listening to their father.

They had lost track of time. "Alright we will continue the story next time." Said Michael as he stood up. Alan and Harry got up to return. They were a little dejected but they soon calmed down knowing they still get more chances like this as they were in the same city.

"Alan don't slack off just because you bagged in a SSS tier contract okay. Work hard and try to outshine their expectations." Michael said as they sent them off.

On their way back Alan was asked to go to the guild logistics. He had a special package arranged by the guild.

Alan opened the package after he got home. Harry was also curious about it.

The package contained a purple crystal with special glowing patterns moving inside it.

"Oh, it's a space crystal." Said Harry as he saw the crystal.

"They are used in the construction and repair of teleportation formations. They can be very helpful for increasing your space element mastery"

Alan observed the crystal for a while.

"Try feeling the space element fluctuation" Harry chimed.

Alan sat down, closed his eyes, trying to feel the fluctuations. Soon he slipped into a meditative state while doing so.

Harry left silently so as to not disturb him.

Time passed by and Alan's mastery in the space element skyrocketed.

2.19%.... 3.58%.... 7.79%.....

Like this three hours passed.

Alan opened his eyes. He took a deep breath and stretched. Sitting like this for a long time was new for him.

He then checked his panel.

Space element: 21.3%

Considering the fact that using space crystal is not as efficient as going through the spatial gateway, and the progress slows down as the mastery increases, gaining more than 20% in space element mastery is very great.

Alan stood up and took a good look at his surroundings.

Maybe due to his Increased mastery of space element his surroundings seemed very different than before.

He jumped and tried to move around. He was pleasantly surprised to find his speed to be significantly faster than before.

Maybe this is one of its benefits.

He then tried his new skill blink which is a short distance teleportation skill. This skill usually costs a huge chunk of mp for normal mages. But thanks to his mastery over space elements, he utilised no MP.

"this technique along with the advanced maneuvering technique I will be untouchable in the battlefield"

Alan rejoiced. Not only that, using it also increased his space element mastery so it was a win-win situation for both of it.

He then tried out the different skills he learnt from the skill repository in the training room till late night.

The next day his brother took him to choose new equipment.

Thanks to his contract he could choose any equipment without worry from the guild. The only condition is to not sell or give it to someone else, and he had to return them if he were to choose a better one.

For armour, Alan chose a Tier 1 lightweight armour which had a high mobility and was favoured by the archers

He then chose windchaser boots which increased his agility by 5%, and some light weight wristguards.

He then took some time to choose a new bow. He looked at the section with adjustable index rate.

He found a good one with a great mana conductivity and passive which increased fire rate by 20%.

It gave him the similar feeling to the bow his brother gave him. Turns out both were made by the same person.

He also brought some tier 1 magic arrows just in case he ran out of MP for his magic arrows.

Then Harry took him back to Alan's training ground for a spar.

He could point out his deficiencies and help him get used to his equipment.

Harry was impressed by how good Alan integrated his blink spell with his maneuvering technique.

With a mix of agility and teleportation Alan could confuse anyone below tier 1 and even the early stage tier 2 after he advanced enough.

Harry stood at the centre of the training ground with his magic shield on.

Alan was told to try his best to injure him.

With their tier difference it was impossible for him to injure him but still he tried his best.

Alan's techniques and movement were nearly perfect considering his tier 1 level.

But Harry could still point out certain imperfections thanks to his high tier and view point.

Alan absorbed Harry's suggestions like a sponge.

After a few hours they stopped after Alan got tired.

"I think you are set to go. With your skills you can perform well even if you go solo into the dungeon." Harry said

"What are your plans? Will you form or join a new team, or go solo like the few geniuses with the SSS tier contract like you." Harry asked.

"I… I haven't thought about it. What do you think I should do?" Alan asked confused

Harry after giving it a thought said. " With your skills joining a team will only hold you back. If it were anyone else I would have recommended joining a team. But for you it won't be a problem"

"So don't worry about finding a team, for now just focus on leveling up." Harry advised.

"So if that's the case how do I join the strike force like you if I don't have a team?" Alan asked.

"Who said you need to be in a team to join the strike force? There are a few geniuses who are playing solo in the strike force. Once you reach tier 2 you will be automatically accepted into the strike force considering your contract."

Alan was relieved hearing this as the strike force had special high reward missions and certain privileges that he would not get anywhere else.

"So for now buckle up and head to the dungeon tower to level up. I need to go make some arrangements for my next dungeon dive"

Harry was preparing to rush to the peak of tier 3 with his squad so he had to make arrangements. He had initially taken a break so he could prepare, but since it was Alan's big day he took some time for him.

Okay. After seeing his brother off Alan got up and walked to the dungeon tower of the guild to level up.
