Chapter 19 - CHAPTER 19

Dante laid beside me on the bed. We both laid in silence for a long while before I fell asleep.

After a few hours I woke up and noticed I was all by myself in the room. My thoughts settled in and I couldn't help but reminisce on the moments from earlier in the day. My skin tingled at the flashbacks of Dante's fingers brushing through my hand. I know I said I had decided to let go of whatever emotional attachments I had with Dante, but it was becoming even more difficult for me. I wondered if he was also feeling the way I did or if it was me forcing the thought of it and hoping badly that he did.

I let my body sink even more into the bed as I exhaled deeply. I realized my head didn't hurt anymore and I felt a lot better. I heard subtle sounds coming from outside the room and I decided to go out and see what it was.

I walked out and music was playing from the speakers in the living room. I was extremely surprised because it was a very unusual thing. I walked downstairs to see what it was about and Dante was right there, singing along at the top of his voice to Ed sheeran's; Shape of you. I was left in awe.

He looked really happy singing along and tapping his feet as he sang into the remote he held like a microphone. It wasn't until he noticed me standing there that he hurriedly paused the music and stopped singing, definitely overwhelmed with embarrassment.

"Oh, you're awake", he said, surprised.

"Why did you stop?" I asked, smiling wholesomely. I hadn't gotten over how amazed I was to see him like that. I guess there was a whole lot more about him that I was clueless about.

"I hope I didn't wake you up?" He asked, trying to change the topic.

"No you didn't" I said and unintentionally burst out giggling.

"What's funny?" He asked, with a stern look on his face trying to seal up his embarrassment.

I walked up to the speaker and turned the music back on with the speaker controls because he had the remote in his hand and I began to sing along just like he did. Not to make fun of him, but because I wanted him to know that he had nothing to be embarrassed about.

"Come on, don't stop now", I Said as I got on the couch with the TV remote in my hand like a microphone and continued to sing along.

Shortly he joined me on the couch and we sang along to a few more songs at the top of our voices, giggling and smiling and Making faces at each other in correspondence with the lyrics of the songs. It was indeed a blissful moment for the both of us. I was really impressed by his playlist, who knew a stern arrogant man like him listened to Olivia Rodrigo? It was intriguing for me. I wish I got to see this side of him everyday.

We got drained out and collapsed on the couch, sitting and gasping to catch our breaths. He turned to me with a broad smile, "You are such an altruist, Sienna," he said, still smiling.

"You think so?", I asked, smiling back at him.

"I know so," he said with a smirk across his face.

I was flattered and thrown off unguarded. I enjoyed these little moments with him and I could tell that he did too. He couldn't sweep it under the covers, it was all evident in his words, his expressions, his smile, even the way he looked at me.

We got lost in each other's state with our smiles hanging wide across our faces. He took my hand in his and time froze immediately. I could swear my heart skipped a beat, and I could feel the goosebumps descending all through my body.

His stare lingered a bit longer and he squeezed my hand even tighter like he had a lot to say but was trying to restrain himself from speaking.

"Come on, let me make you something to eat" He said, pulling his hand away from mine. Perfect escape I presume.

I sat back on the couch as he walked away. He noticed I wasn't following behind him and he returned to pull me up to my feet.

"Don't be a slack now, let's go" he said, with a soft laughter.

Just as I followed behind him, his phone rang from inside his pocket. He took it out and his countenance changed immediately he looked at the caller's ID.

"Give me a minute" he said and swiftly walked away to give himself some privacy.

I could see him through the transparent window at the other side of the living room but I couldn't hear whatever he was saying. Almost all the doors and windows in the house were sound proof and it made eavesdropping difficult.

Dante seemed tense as he kept pacing about and looked angry as well. He noticed me staring from the other side of the living room and turned to face the balcony. That was rather suspicious and it drove my curiosity to a taller height.

"Sorry about that" he said as he walked back to me and led me through to the kitchen.

"Was that work stuff?" I asked curiously, hoping it won't trigger him that I was inquiring.

"Yea, just work stuff" he said without giving any details.

I couldn't pry further, that would have been me poking my nose all up in his business and I didn't want that.

"Pasta?" Dante asked, waving a pack of pasta in my face.

"Oh really? You can make that?" I asked, surprised.

Though I had seen him cook before and even tried food he cooked, it always came off as a shock to me whenever he offered to cook. I was still amused that he could actually cook, which was a good thing considering most men don't and especially men of his status.

"It's still a surprise that you actually know how to cook," I said, teasingly.

A sneaky smirk pulled off at the corner of his lips. "There's a whole lot more about me you do not know that would surprise you" he said with his eyes focused on mine while he chopped some vegetables on the counter.
