Chapter 11 - 11 Chasing the Murderer on the Island (II)

The four of them were all scared out of their wits, but now the arrow was on the string and had to be shot, so they had to rush forward. They absolutely could not let that thing climb up. Even a coward like Roger hid behind the other three rushed forward. He opened his Guardian Eyes, covered himself with a shield of light, and swung his sword to chop at the giant arm.

"Ahhh!" The Yellow Springs Monster had just stretched out one hand and half of its head when it was attacked by several people. It became furious at the pain, and it roared, opening its mouth and spitting out a large ball of fire. Elfa was the first to be hit and immediately turned into a fire man. Fortunately, the holy warrior was full of fighting spirit. He roared, and the milky white sacred fighting spirit suddenly burst out and dispersed the flames.

Taking advantage of this gap, Randy's long sword with yellow fighting spirit drew a flash of lightning, reached into the mouth of the Yellow Springs Monster, and cut off a small piece of its tongue. Next came Roger's two-handed heavy sword, carrying the azure fighting spirit and slashed fiercely on its arm. The Yellow Springs Monster howled, and its head shrank back, leaving only one hand still waving wildly.

"Hold on a little longer, the formation seems to be weakening!" Roger said in surprise as he looked at the formation that seemed to be flickering unstably.

Suddenly, the Yellow Springs Monster stretched out its other hand, supported the ground with both hands, and suddenly half of its body stretched out. If his head hadn't reached the top of the cave, his entire body would have fallen out. As its body was revealed, a small group of demon children with flames burning all over their bodies emerged from the formation, rushing towards them with strange chirping sounds.

The four of them were almost frightened silly and quickly raised their weapons to fight the enemy. Elfa launched a charge, his body bathed in milky white fighting spirit, galloping among the demon children like a white warhorse, knocking these weak monsters to pieces one by one. Opened a path for Roger and Randy.

Matar took off the spear on her back and said in a deep voice, "Hold on, buy me some time!"

After saying that, she made a javelin throwing posture, but did not throw it out immediately. Instead, she began to concentrate all her fighting spirit on the wrist of the spear. The unique fighting method of the Orcs is to concentrate the fighting spirit on a certain point of the body and then deliver a fatal blow through that point. But this method requires a long time of accumulation of energy.

Although they were afraid, they also knew how to trust their teammates.

Roger and Randy knew they had no way to retreat, so they rushed towards the Yellow Springs Monster.

The monster saw the two humble and tiny humans rushing towards them fearlessly and tries to grabbed them fiercely with its two claws.

Roger was lucky enough to have the defense of the Guardian Eye, but he was pushed back several steps by the huge force. Although most of the light elements in his body were consumed, he was unharmed.

Randy was in a much more miserable situation. His long sword could not block the giant claws of the Yellow Springs Monster and was broken in two in an instant. The huge force of the claws all hit his chest, and the whole person flew backwards like a kite with a broken string and fell ten meters away.

If it weren't for the fighting spirit protecting him, his body would probably be cold by now.

Roger's legs felt a little weak. Although this scene was not as terrifying as the last time he met Lilith, it was enough to make him tremble with fear. It's really not easy for him to hold on until now.

Fortunately, Elfa finally broke free from the demon child's entanglement and took over Randy's position. The strong man like an iron tower held a huge shield and rushed towards the Yellow Springs Monster with a roar. The magic silver sword in his hand, carrying the sacred fighting spirit, slashed towards its chest.

"Clang!"

The Yellow Springs Monster protected its chest with its claws, and its hard claws couldn't even cut through the magic silver sword. With an ear-piercing sound of metal clashing, the sword in Elfa's hand flew out of his hand. The holy warrior only felt his right hand going numb. He looked down and found that his knuckles were cracked and bleeding.

At the moment he lowered his head, the claws of the Yellow Springs Monster had already arrived in front of him with a whistling wind.

Although Roger was scared, he saw his teammate in danger and rushed over to tackle him to the ground. The huge claw slapped his protective holy shield and was bounced away with a thud.

Roger didn't feel good either. He felt that the little light element left in his body was instantly drained away by this attack. He was almost at the end of his rope. The guardian eye could no longer be maintained, and the pupil returned to its original appearance. His mind was spinning, as if the whole world was upside down, and now he couldn't even stand up.

After suffering setbacks one after another, the Yellow Springs Monster became extremely angry. It roared and raised its claws to grab Roger again. It seemed that Roger and Elfa under him were doomed.

At the critical moment, a dark green light flashed, and at the moment when the Yellow Springs Monster swung its claws, it pierced through its chest fiercely, dragging its blood and flesh into the wall of the cave with a "gong" sound, causing a burst of rolling stones.

The monster looked in disbelief at the huge hole in his chest that was constantly oozing dirty yellowish blood, then looked towards the direction where the green light came from.

Matar was exhausted and fell to her knees, panting.

"Grrrrrwaarrrrr!"

Yellow Springs monster let out a desperate wail and tried to grab something with its claws, but fell backwards powerlessly.

The huge body quickly sank into the scarlet formation.

At the moment it fell, the formation also lost its light, and only a few frightened demon children were left in the cave. They fled in all directions, but their short arms and legs meant they could not escape anywhere, and were easily dealt with by Matar and Elfa, who had recovered their breath.

The square in front of the Earl Martin's Palace is where the old Earl usually holds meetings and speeches for his people. It is paved with thick stone bricks, surrounded by oak trees and a beautiful fountain in the middle. When there are no meetings, it is a good place for everyone to rest and have fun.

But now the square had been cleared by the guards, who stood solemnly at each intersection, blocking the islanders who were trying to poke their heads out. Twelve corpses were lined up next to the fountain in the square. Except for the six Nords from the Gathering Religion, the rest were the residents who were sacrificed. As for the women and children who were not sacrificed, they had already been taken away to rest.

Old Count Martin stood in front of the corpses with a gloomy face, listening to Roger and the others describing what happened last night. The thin priest Marco led two other priests to kneel on the ground, mumbling hymns to cleanse the souls of the dead.

This custom exists everywhere in the continent of Nirn. As long as the person died of normal illness or not, no matter how he died, his family will find a way to collect their bodies and ask local priests to sing hymns for them to cleanse their souls, so as to prevent their souls from being contaminated and becoming evil spirits or falling into hell.

After listening to Roger and the others' narration, Count Martin frowned and pondered for a while. After Marco and the other priests left, he spoke to the four of them, "When I was young, I fought against the Nords on the border. Once, I sneaked into the Nordic city of Rona as a spy, where I met a great wizard of the Gathering Religion. This kind of blood sacrifice, if you want to summon high-level monsters, generally requires six living people as sacrifices, and they must be cast with evil spells every day until their souls are polluted into monsters. These people don't usually come into contact with Gathering Religion, so how can they pollute their souls?"

"Do you suspect there are still remnants of the Gathering Religion here?" Roger whispered.

"Um."

"I don't think it's right either." Randy said as he supported himself on Elfa's shoulders. His injuries were much more serious than the others. Although he was able to walk after Elfa's treatment, his face was still pale and he had little strength.

"We know that there are more than 20 missing people, but there are only 12 bodies here. Together with the women and children who were taken back, there are only 17 people in total. So where are the others?"

After Randy's words, everyone reacted. Suddenly, they felt a cool breeze blowing across their backs.

"So there are still people who haven't been caught!" said the old earl gritting his teeth.

He has always loved his people like his own children. Now that so many people have died in his territory, how can he not be heartbroken?

"I'm afraid this matter is not as simple as a few members of the Gathering Religion secretly taking revenge on their enemies. Perhaps people from the Gathering Religion have already infiltrated these islanders. I think it is necessary for us to investigate these islanders. Especially those who have moved here in recent years." Roger said.
