Chapter 15 - 15 Purgatory on earth

The sun has just set and the waning moon has just risen.

The islanders of Klin had been busy all day and went home early to rest. There were few people on the roads of the island, only dim lights flickering in the windows of every household. Pieces of smoke rose straight up from houses, and when they reached high altitudes, they were blown away by the wind and disappeared without a trace.

What a peaceful and tranquil day had passed.

There is a row of houses near the temple, which are for the priests to live in. Because the priests have a high status on the island, Count Martin spent a lot of time and effort in building these houses.

Not only are the exteriors exquisite and gorgeous, but the interiors are also designed by famous artists, whether it is the walls, ceilings or the white marble on the floor. This cost the old Count a lot of gold coins.

However, in Pastor Marco's room, these gorgeous designs were no longer useful, because they had long been covered with a thick layer of black by the dried blood, and could no longer show their original splendor.

The thin priest Marco knelt on the floor of the room, reciting the unknown spell devoutly while gently stroking the object in front of him with his hand.

A black cocoon. It was almost the same size as an adult person, oval in shape, and wrapped in layers of black silk threads. As Marco chanted the spell, one or two faint and strange moans came from inside, like a woman's, or a bird's.

Then look at the black silk connected to the black cocoon, which keeps extending and extending to the corpses that can be seen everywhere in the room. There are a total of 19 corpses, each of which is placed in different corners of the room in a weird posture with a twisted expression.

Some are nailed to the ceiling, some are embedded in the wall, and some are thrown on the ground. It looks like a hell on earth.

"Elizabeth, bear with it! Soon...soon you will be reborn!" Marco interrupted the spell, his face pale, like the color of someone who had been dead for a long time. Although his tone was very excited, he had no expression. That face seemed to have no emotions after his wife died.

"BANG!!"

The door was kicked open, and Elfa led the way with a tower shield in hand. Behind him came Randy and Matar, and then the guards of the Earl's Mansion. Roger followed at the end, revealing his face as the old Earl's personal guard.

The small room was suddenly filled with people, and the guards surrounded it in three layers. When everyone saw the tragic scene, even Matar, who was used to seeing killings, was frightened and her face turned pale.

Elfa held the huge sword tightly in his hand, with slightly trembling hands, waiting for the order from Roger or the old earl, and he would immediately behead the demon.

"Damn you, a bunch of ants!" Marco was furious. He stood up suddenly and blocked the black cocoon behind him. "I didn't expect those guys to be so useless. You actually found this place so quickly. But you can't stop me. Soon, Elizabeth will be resurrected, haha..."

As he spoke, Marco began to laugh wildly.

Roger stepped forward, pointed his sword at Marco, and said in a deep voice: "No matter how meticulous the plan is, as long as you do it, there will be traces. As long as you leave traces, we will be able to find you and stop you! Marco, oh no, I should call you Noel!"

"You know I'm not Marco?" Marco took a step back, his tone full of surprise.

"Only you Nords can use the tricks of the Gathering Religion. Besides, even if you cried a lot after your wife died, your voice wouldn't be hoarse for more than 20 days. Although I don't understand why you wanted to kill Marco to silence him, in order to save your sister, you not only designed to kill your brother-in-law, but also sacrificed more than 30 lives. This behavior is worthy of being immersed in the pool of fire in hell for a thousand years!" Roger said angrily.

"Hahahaha... go to hell? Yes, I deserve to go to hell, I deserve to go to hell. Marco, who didn't care about Elizabeth's life or death, deserves to go to hell even more!" Noel was disdainful of Roger's words. Now that his disguise had been exposed, he didn't have to wear the extremely uncomfortable human skin mask anymore. He simply tore it off and revealed his true face.

"Noel, it's you!" The old earl's eyes were bloodshot. He ignored the guards' dissuasion, rushed forward a few steps, raised his hand and punched Noel, "You beast! Everyone is so good to you, why do you do such a devilish thing?"

"Go to hell... Go to hell..." Noel did not resist the old earl's punch. He was knocked to the ground by the punch. A big bump appeared on his face, blood was slowly flowing from the corner of his mouth, and it seemed that he had lost a few teeth. However, he did not answer Count Martin, but just muttered a few words, looking nervous, "I will go to hell, I will be burned in the pool of fire for a thousand years, I will go to hell, I will be burned in the pool of fire for a thousand years..."

"Is he crazy?" Matar glanced at Noel with disgust. She couldn't help but asked.

"He went crazy when he planned to use so many lives to do an impossible thing." Randy said. The look in his eyes when he looked at Noel was not only disgust but also a hint of helplessness.

"I will go to hell... hehe... to hell..." Noel smiled dully, and suddenly jumped up. His hands were like a pair of crab claws, tightly strangling Count Martin's throat, his pale face full of hideousness and distortion.

"Even if I have to go to hell, I want you to go with me. Go with me, hahahahaha..."

Although the old earl had been a soldier before, he was old and frail after all. In addition, Noel suddenly attacked, so he was unable to break free and was almost strangled to death.

Fortunately, Matar reacted quickly, reached out and pull out the black gold dagger at his waist, a black edge flashed, and Noel's screams suddenly resounded throughout the room.

Blood gushed out, spraying all over the old count's body. Although the two hands were still on his body, they had been cut off by Matar and could no longer pose a threat to him.

"Kill him!" the old count was furious.

Elfa, who had been waiting for a long time, took a few steps forward, raised the giant sword, and stabbed it through Noel as if it were a rotten persimmon. When he pulled it back, Noel had already fallen in a pool of blood, breathing more out than in, and it was obvious that he was not going to survive.

"You...you...wait...for...Elizabeth, she...she will..." Noel spoke intermittently. Finally, he couldn't hold on any longer. The words were swallowed into his throat and he could never speak them out again.

After completing the task, the rest was out of their control. The four handed over the work to the guards of the Earl's Mansion. After explaining to Count Martin, they returned to the Earl's Mansion. In Marco's room, only Count Martin, who was standing in deep thought, and a group of guards holding torches were left.

Watching the guards coming in and out, the old count's expression was as gloomy as the leaden clouds in the sky, and he never uttered a word.

"My lord, what should we do with this black thing?" The captain of the guard knew that the old earl was in a bad mood, so he didn't dare to bother him. But he had never seen this black thing before, so he didn't know what to do with it.

He could only come up and ask questions shamelessly.

"Move the bodies of those innocent people out and bury them. This black thing...burn it together with Noel and this room. Watch the fire and make sure it doesn't damage the houses next door." The old earl waved his hand weakly and turned to leave. The captain of the guards saw that he was staggering and felt that he seemed even older than before, like a towering old tree that was slowly withering, full of desolation.

That night, a dazzling fire was lit near the temple. Then waves of unpleasant smoke drifted to every corner of Klin Island, and the islanders who had not yet rested coughed and closed their doors and windows.

The next day, the sun rose.

Four mercenaries from the Hades Mercenary Group participated in the banquet specially set up for them by Count Martin as heroes.

Banquet. Although it was sad that so many people died, the islanders of Klin and the old earl still showed great enthusiasm to the heroes who caught the murderer. Almost everyone on the island came to see them off. If they came in a carriage, it would definitely be filled with agricultural fruits, vegetables and fresh fish.

In order to develop long-term customers, Roger also left the old earl the address of his hotel in Kunlun, and repeatedly told him that all the mercenary missions on Klin's side would be handled by his Hades Mercenary Group. Looking at the face he made when he was selling to the old earl, he didn't look like a mercenary group leader, but the president of a chamber of commerce.

After bidding farewell to the people of Klin Island, the four of them took Oda's small boat and slowly traveled across the lake.

"Hey, why do you look so absent-minded?" Randy moved Roger's hand. This guy has been thinking about something since he got on the boat.

"Oh?" Roger turned around, "I just wonder why this Noel wanted to kill Marco? Was it just because Marco refused to save his wife? Also, why didn't Marco save Elizabeth?"

"Perhaps Marco feels that a wife resurrected in this way is not his own wife." Randy wiped the new sword given to him by the old earl. It was said to be a trophy obtained during the battle of Samir. It was a meteorite long sword made by the dwarf craftsman Firber Rujeye, the famous sword "Flame Soaring".

"Really?" Roger leaned his head out and looked down at the deep water under the boat. He smiled and said, "It seems that what you said makes sense."

The lake water is clear at the moment, but the depths are a deep blue that is ready to devour anyone. Roger seemed to vaguely see Marco sinking to the bottom of the lake that day. A man, because he didn't want to turn his wife into a monster, was inexplicably killed by his brother-in-law. It's quite absurd to think about it...
