Chapter 8 - The village

"That stupid big-mouthed yapper.... I hope he falls into a ditch and breaks his back."

Obito huffed as he trudged through the hallway.

Lumian followed behind him, hands in his pockets as a small smile was expressed on his face.

As they walked, Obito turned his head to look at the casual figure of the boy.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Black hair, eyes that seemed to illuminate the void, and a refined look that screamed confidence.

Obito's mind instantly conjured out the image of Kakashi. However, the differences were profound.

While both of them carried the same aura, Kakashi rarely showed his face, while Amon seemed to have a slight mischievous demeanor to his smile.

As if he was secretly plotting, unknown to others what he was currently thinking.

Obito turned his head away from the boy and continued walking. However, uncomfortable with the silence, Obito started a conversation.

"So, you're new to the village?" he said.

Lumian, surprised that Obito took the initiative to speak first, responded.

"Yeah, my caravan was attacked by enemies.... I was wounded and received treatment at the hospital."

Obito turned his head to look at him with wide eyes. "Wait, you were attacked??? That's why your at the village? Your not a traveler??"

Lumian responded nonchalantly. "Yeah, it was kind of bad. They came out of nowhere and our caravans were set on fire by a bunch of fire-style techniques. Well... technically I am a traveler, but my existence in the present seems to now be stuck in the village."

Obito having heard there was an attack, was excited as to how he heard there was a real battle of Shinobi that occurred. After all, he only heard his clan members talking about some new jutsus that they learned occasionally.

Obito knew how to use the fireball jutsu, but it was pretty pathetic when compared to others.

Obito then dropped his excited expression as he realized it may seem rude to the boy who could have suffered unknown trauma.

He then tried to comfort the boy. "Well at least you guys made it out alive. Who knows what could have happened if you were caught by them!"

"I'm the only survivor," Lumian responded.

Obito's expression grew horrid as he realized he made the situation worse for himself.

"Um I meant-" Obito tried to say.

"Don't Worry, I know you didn't mean any offense." Lumian said. His expression had never changed from the beginning of his conversation with Obito.

Lumian then dragged the conversation into another topic.

"Can you point out the convenience stores and market places for me?"

Obito and Lumian had already walked out of the Hokage building and up to that point of the conversation, was walking along the road as bustling passersby's went about their business.

"O- oh yeah! Ummm... follow me." Obito said.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Lumian observed the environment as Obito pointed out different locations within the leaf village.

It was unnerving to see a fictional world in the flesh. The people that passed by him all seemed way too real and the characters that he already met were each unique in their own right. How would they react if they found out that he knew of them by watching their lives as he sat down comfortably eating popcorn?

Now, he was one of those characters, interacting with them, and at some point of the future, be fighting with or against them for survival.

Lumian had just finished that thought when he widened his eyes as another familiar landmark appeared as they turned into the road to their right.

The destination that anyone who ever watched Naruto would immediately recognize and hope to visit if they ever found themselves in the world.

A small unassuming food stand that seated a limited number of people as they ate on the counter.

The letters of the food stand were spelled out on each sheets of cloth that covered the top-half entrance of the opening.

Ichiraku Ramen

Remembering the moments in the show where Naruto was shown eating, his mouth salivated as he let out a gulp. He was currently starving, as he hadn't eaten anything since he was discharged from the hospital.

Obito looked at Amon and looked to where he was staring at.

"Oh, are you hungry?" Obito said.

Obito, seeing how Amon tried to hide his hungry expression, let out a grin.

He grabbed the boy by the wrist without warning and walked towards the food stand.

"Lets get some ramen, my treat!" he said dragging the starving boy to the stand.

Obito still felt guilty after hearing what the boy went through and was worried that the boy was sad. As Obito wasn't exactly poor since he was from the Uchiha clan, he had more than enough money to treat both of them to a meal.

As Lumian was being dragged, he looked at Obito's face and contemplated.

He couldn't really tell, but he definitely felt like Obito had the wrong thought. Oh well, I get free food anyways so I'm not really complaining. (And thus, Lumian carries out his first scam in the new world)

They both entered the stall as Obito yelled.

"Old man Teuchi! Two miso ramen please!"

Lumian saw Old man Teuchi, the legendary six paths of ramen sage, cooking up some noodles as his hands moved to stir the boiling soup.

They took a seat as Teuchi shouted:

"Two Miso ramen coming right up!"

Obito gave him some chopsticks as Obito broke his chopsticks into two.

"Hey Amon, since you're starting the academy, do you know what class you'll be in?" he said.

Lumian broke his chopsticks as well and responded. "The Hokage only said that I started next week. The academy instructor's probably going to give me instructions when I get there."

Obito looked at him with an excited look as he enthusiastically spoke. "If we happen to be in the same class, I can teach you how things work!"

His expression then turned ugly as he said:

"Just ignore that big-mouthed jerk. He always yaps us to boredom in class! Always saying this and that... Obito seethed as he continued to let out insults. Oh yeah! There's this beautiful girl named Rin too. You'll definitely like her when you see her. She's the kindest girl in the world!" he said.

His voice turned down a notch as he seemed to recall some unpleasant memories. "If you ever see a white-haired guy with a mask, don't talk to him. He's a real bastard you know.... Although, you probably won't be able to see him anyways. He's not at the academy anymore....." Obito said.

Lumian listened to this as Teuchi gave them their finished ramen. He ate them silently while nodding his head up and down at Obito's continuous rambling.

"You don't have to tell me your life story you know... I already know all of this," Lumian internally lampooned as he slurped up the noodles.

Finally after Obito paid the bill, they returned to their original task of walking down the road.

- - - - - - - - - - - -

As they walked, Lumian suddenly remembered what he wanted to do.

"Hey Obito, can you buy some food for me before we go to my apartment?" Lumian said.

Obito looked at him in shock, "We just ate some Ramen! Are you still hungry?" he said.

"Yeah, I still feel like I could eat more," Lumian responded.

Lumian wasn't hungry. In fact, he was currently very full. The real reason why he wanted to buy some food was to carry out the ritual that he now suspected had a factor to his sudden appearance within this world.

The Luck ritual, or the ritual of the Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth.

Lumian already had plenty of time to review what he did before he fell asleep in his room at his house, on the bed of the hospital before he visited the Hokage building.

Besides a bunch of weird dreams he couldn't seem to remember, he recalled the only weird detail to be that ritual he did before he fell asleep.

Lumian had originally thought that the ritual wasn't the reason why he found himself within Naruto. After all, wouldn't it be logical to assume he would end up in the universe of Lord of the Mysteries instead?

Regarding that, he was glad that wasn't the case.

He had read up on Lord of the Mysteries and still felt some trauma while reading. He recalled many things that made him internally shudder.

"Pregant women?"

"Beautiful women?"

"Looking at someone the wrong way?"

"Saying something you shouldn't have?"

"Literally doing anything else?"

If it wasn't the ritual that was responsible, than it was definitely that Kakashi figure I placed on the floor. (Kakashi: 😮)

Obito looked at Amon and was unsure of whether to follow up with that request.

He had just spent money to buy both of them some food, and if he spent more, his wallet's going to look depraved.

"Didn't the hokage give you money?" Obito said.

Lumian responded by saying, "I forgot to pick it up after following you. You left the office in a hurry."

Obito cursed in his mind and reluctantly agreed to Lumian's request.

. . .

Soon 2 boys were seen walking out of a market.

One of them was whistling while holding a bag of food, while the other was crying holding his dead wallet.

Obito wiped away his tears as he spoke in a despaired tone.

"Lets just get to your place already...."

For the first time since entering this world, Lumian let out a hearty laugh.

"Alright."

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Later, as the sun was closing in the horizon, turning the sky into a sea of red, orange, and yellow; the 2 boys found themselves in front of their designated location.

Obito nodded and said, "Looks like were here!"

He then turned to Lumian, "I'd like to see you again at the academy next week. I had a fun time with you Amon!" Obito said with a smile.

Lumian nodded and responded with a smile.

Then, Obito raised his arm and let out a fist.

Lumian stared at it and realized, "Oh, is this the iconic fist bump?"

Holding the bag of food on his other arm, he raised his right arm and bumped fists with Obito.

Obito let out a grin showing his teeth and after saying his farewells, he left and soon disappeared as he turned into a cluster of buildings.

Watching Obito leave, Lumian internally contemplated. How did a kind boy like that turn into a crash-out maniac?

Seeing Obito, Lumian had already decided that he wanted to change the fate of some characters in this world.

Currently , he was way to weak.

However, if what he did now was a success, something prominent was bound to happen.

With that Lumian turned to his apartment.

"Alright lets see what we've got."

Horrendous

Terrible

Appalling

Dreadful

Atrocious

Ghastly

Abominable

Gruesome

Monstrous

Hideous

Repulsive

This was the condition he found the apartment to be in.

The chairs and tables were overthrown. The couch had rips in it as springs revealed themselves.

The floor had holes in it and the roof of the ceiling was moldy.

In the sink of the kitchen, it had flies and weird bugs crawling inside of it, as the plates seemed to not be watched in centuries.

If Elizabeth Hall were to see this she would probably faint.

Lumian internally cursed at the Hokage and stared at the mess in front of him.

"You couldn't even give me a decent living situation?? Damn you Sarutobi..."

Lumian set down his bag and walked up to the window to open it.

*Cough*

*Cough*

A layer of dust flew out of the room and into the sky above.

Lumian turned and found a light switch in the living room near the couch.

After flicking it up, A constant blinking of light shone illuminating the apartment.

He looked around and started moving. He first put the table and chairs in the kitchen and flipped the couch in order to leave more room.

Removing whatever trash was on the floor, he collected all of them and threw it into a trash can outside of his apartment.

Lumian let out a sigh and patted his hands.

He looked at the now spacious apartment and nodded.

He was now prepared to do the ritual

Grabbing the bag filled with food, he took them out one by one.

An apple

A celery stick

A pair of grapes.

A Banana.

The official novel description had stated that you didn't really need bread. They can also be staple food you would eat routinely during the day.

He placed the apple on the overturned couch in his left. He walked towards the window and pace the celery stick there. Then he walked over and placed the pair of grapes on a wooden chair he set in place. Finally he put the banana on another chair from his original position.

Beginning preparations were complete.

Lumian wasn't really worried about anyone catching him doing the ritual. After all outer gods, and the 7 traditional deities didn't exist within Naruto. If they saw him now, they would only think this boy was crazy.

Disregarding that thought, Lumian looked around him as he let out a deep breath.

(2nd reminder: Don't try this at home kiddos!)

Lumian took the first step clockwise and said silently The Immortal Lord of Heaven and Earth for Blessings.

He took another step clockwise and thought, The Sky Lord of Heaven and Earth for Blessings.

He took another step clockwise, The Exalted Thearch of Heaven and Earth for Blessings.

He took the final step clockwise, The Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth for Blessings.

Then Lumian closed his eyes and counted 300 seconds.

300 seconds had passed but nothing happened.

Lumian opened his eyes and contemplated.

"So it wasn't the ritual then. Was it really the Kakashi figur-"

Suddenly his pupils dilated as his surroundings dimmed as grey fog formed around his surroundings.

Constant murmurings and ravings were heard as they instantly fell upon Lumian's mind.

The ritual had worked.
