Toka began.
"Chakra is an energy that exists within every living being in this world. It is formed from the combination of physical and spiritual energy within an individual. Everyone has a certain quantity of chakra inside them. The amount one can hold before running out is called their chakra reserves."
He paused to let the words settle before continuing.
"Some people have chakra but don't know how to mold or use it. These are civilians. Then there are people who can harness that chakra to perform techniques or enhance their bodies. We call them Shinobi."
Toka's gaze sharpened slightly.
"Not just people—animals too. Some creatures in this world can use chakra. When you come across one, you may be able to form a contract with them using a blood seal. In the heat of battle, you can summon them to fight alongside you."
He raised a finger for emphasis.
"Chakra conversion efficiency depends heavily on stamina. Your body generates energy by combining physical strength and mental willpower, which you convert into usable chakra. But proper chakra control is everything. Mold too much or too little, and your techniques will fail—or worse, backfire."
Toka's voice grew more serious.
"When you run out of stamina, your chakra depletes too. And if your chakra runs completely dry… well, it can kill you. Your body loses the energy it needs to survive. That's why Shinobi who exhaust all their chakra often die not long after."

Toka held up three fingers.
"There are three core techniques Shinobi use chakra for."
He lowered one finger.

". . . The first is Ninjutsu."

"Ninjutsu allows a Shinobi to manipulate chakra into physical actions—whether attacking, defending, or enhancing. This involves something called Shape Transformation: controlling the form, movement, and intensity of chakra."
"To shape chakra properly, we use hand seals. Each hand sign molds chakra in a specific way. But some masters, like our Third Hokage, can cast jutsu without seals at all, through raw chakra manipulation."
Toka switched hands, raising five fingers.
"Every ninja has an elemental chakra nature: Fire, Wind, Earth, Lightning, or Water."
He folded down each finger as he spoke.
"The closer your affinity is to one of these elements, the easier it'll be for you to learn jutsu of that type. There are also two rarer elemental releases—Yin and Yang. They're technically chakra natures too, but very few possess them."
"Yin corresponds to spiritual energy. Yang, to physical."
He tilted his head slightly in thought. "One of the Sannin can manipulate Nature Energy itself using this kind of transformation... but I don't know much about that, so I won't get into it now."
He refocused.
"Now then—"
He lowered a second finger.

The Second is called Genjutsu.

"The second is Genjutsu."
"Genjutsu are illusory techniques. Instead of shaping the world, you manipulate the target's mind—specifically their five senses. Sight, sound, smell, taste, and touch."
"Genjutsu falls under Yin Release. Its effects aren't physical, but sensory. Through chakra, you can distort what someone sees or hears—or even trick them into feeling pain."
A flicker of intensity passed through his eyes.
"Some Genjutsu specialists can cause real damage through illusion. Like the Uchiha... or the Kurama clan."
He let that warning hang in the air.
Then he lowered his final finger.

The Final one is called Taijutsu.

"The third is Taijutsu."
"Unlike the other two, Taijutsu uses chakra to directly enhance the body. Through chakra and physical conditioning, a user can push their strength, speed, and endurance beyond normal human limits."
"It's martial arts—purely physical combat, empowered through energy."
Toka dropped his hands and added quietly, "Few master Taijutsu alone. But there is one ninja in Konoha who does—Might Duy. He's only a Genin, but… his dedication is real."

Toka paused for a long moment to make sure Lumian was still paying attention.
"I could talk about more advanced techniques, like Kenjutsu or Fūinjutsu, but since we're only covering the basics, I'll stop here."
With that, his lecture ended.

Lumian nodded as Toka finished, absorbing the information like a sponge.
"It's just like what I remember from the anime," Lumian thought. "But hearing it like this... it hits different now that I'm here. Now that I can actually feel chakra for myself."
Toka stepped closer.
"Now that we've covered the basics…" He stopped in front of Lumian. "Let's focus on you."
"Close your eyes, bend your knees into a ready position, and clasp your hands together," he instructed.
Lumian gave a small nod and followed his words exactly.
Darkness met his vision as he shut his eyes. The only thing he could hear was the wind brushing the trees... and Toka's voice.
"Stay calm. Your body's still new to chakra, so I'm going to insert my chakra into you and lead it through your system. You'll feel it in your stomach first. Once you do, guide it—spread it to your limbs, your head, all over."
Lumian felt a warm hand press gently against his stomach.
. . .
"I'll begin."
. . .
He waited, steady in his position.
...One... two... three...
Suddenly, a warmth began to blossom in his stomach.
. . .
It was unlike anything he'd ever felt.
The closest comparison he could find was the sensation of pressing a hot pack to your skin after coming in from the freezing cold. A burning touch but not harmful. As if it was comforting you with a touch.
"Do you feel it?" Toka asked softly.
"Yes," Lumian whispered.
"Good. Now spread it."
Lumian focused. He tried to pull the warmth outward from his stomach, like coaxing light down a hallway. And then—
"Oh!!" he gasped.
A jolt of clarity struck him.
The warmth surged through his veins like water through a pipe. Goosebumps prickled his arms and legs as the sensation rolled outward. His entire body felt alive. He never felt so hyped before in his life.
"Excellent!" Toka said. "Keep circulating it through your body. Use your stomach as the center. Then, loop it around, and eventually, if all goes well, it will begin to seep outward."
Lumian continued, rotating the chakra from his stomach to his arms, his legs, his head—then looping it back again.
. . . . . .
Time passed.
The warmth remained. His circulation was steady.
But…
Nothing was seeping outward.
Lumian frowned and cracked one eye open.
Toka looked puzzled too.
"That's odd… Something should've—"

Something did.
. . .
