Laying in bed staring at the twinkle lights under the cotton as if watching a lightening storm with my music blasting in my ears. How did my life come to this in a weeks time ? A perfect job, a Gorgeous CIO, a marriage contract deal? Is this the life I wanna live in? I mean it is better then where I was , but should I really take the deal? I was just getting my life together but do I settle down? They even spoke of having kids. I don't think I'm ready for that. If I don't except then I lose Addison . Ive grown to have strong feelings for him already, but is it enough ?
I get a message from Caleb to open my door. I go open my front door and there He stands a bottle of red wine in his hand. "I need my best friend right now." Caleb says looking very upset. I let him in and close the door. We walk to the kitchen island and I grab 2 crystal wine glasses. I put in down in front of him.
"What's going on ?" I ask.
"Dad finally passed," he says sadly almost in tears. I grab his hands and hold them. His father had been battling cancer for a long time .
" I'm so sorry Caleb," I pull him into a hug . And the tears finally start running. He must of been holding it all in . I pet his back and let him leak all the tears he wanted. After and hour of comforting him with words, petting, and a whole bottle of wine he looked like he could pass out soon. I quickly ran and got blankets and pillows and arranged the couch for him. I call him over and somehow he staggered his way to the couch. I tuck him in and kiss his cheek good night. As I lay in bed again and send a message to the boss explaining I had a family emergency and wouldn't be able to make it into work tomorrow. He said it was fine since I had already most his assignments for me. I place my phone on the table and while watching the lights I quickly drift off to sleep.
I open my eyes to the light shining through the window . How long did I sleep ? I go to check the time on my phone and it's dead. Fuck I forgot to charge it . I plug it in and go to see if Caleb has woken up yet. He's still pass out. I go and start making breakfast for us . I finish setting the table and put our coffee and the food on the table . The smell of chocolate chip pancakes and bacon must of woke him up. He walks to the table a half naked zombie. I put hot coffee on the table and the sugar cubes . I sit and look at him as he swirls his coffee.
"How are you feeling ?"
"Dead inside, how about you?"
"I need to tell you something, maybe you can help me with this feeling. I feel so lost honestly ." He looks at me curiously and confused. We start to eat breakfast as I tell him about my ordeal . His face locked in a shocked look . "I just don't know what to do. Everything was finally coming together but I don't want to move so fast and regret my decision."
"You know that deal sounds like you have more to gain then lose. The odds are tipped in your favor, well if you except. Do you feel comfortable enough to say you want to spend the next 2 years with him ?" I sip my coffee contemplating what Caleb has said when the door bell rings. Me and Caleb give each other a questionable look and he gets up to answer the door.
"Who the fuck are you and why are you answering Rory's door?" I hear a man's voice.
"Why does that concern you fuck face?"
"Considering she's my girlfriend, I have a right." Caleb lets his arm down that was blocking the man's entrance . Addison walks through my door and finds me sipping my coffee in my chair .
"Caleb close the door and finish eating." I tell him.
"Addy what are you doing here?" I ask him. He looks angry.
"You didn't show up at work and didn't answer any of my messages."
"Caleb and me stayed up very late and I forgot to plug in my phone it's dead, I'm charging it now. And I called your father to tell him I wouldn't be in. There was nothing to be worried about." I tell him staring at him.
"This is your best friend ?"
"Yes, he was to messed up to go home so he stayed. But you made. Great first impression." I say rolling my eyes.
"Rory seeming as you have a lot to deal with I'm going to head to moms and check on her. Thank you very much for everything last night ." He kisses my cheek and walks into the living room to dress. I look up to Addy looking even more pissed then before. "Bye bestie I'll text you when I'm done." He waves at me and exits my house. It's just me and a very angry Addison left in a quiet room.
