"The informant we planted in the police station has been taken out?" The Jackson Family's young master, with a face swollen like a pig's, no longer had his usual suave demeanor as he stood in the villa.
"Do we know the details?"
"Apparently, it was a C-rank warrior who mastered sword energy that killed him!" the butler quickly reported.
"A C-rank warrior with sword energy, killing an F-rank rookie cop?" The Jackson Family's young master sneered, full of disbelief. "Is this another warning from the Olson Family?"
"Olson Family, just you wait!"
"And that student who called the cops, you wait too!"
"The Doomsday Squad won't protect you forever!"
Whitney read the report that had just come in. The police station seemed to be having a streak of bad luck.
First, it was attacked by the Jackson Family, and now, a cop was killed in an alley by a C-rank warrior.
"A dignified C-rank warrior with sword energy... why would they target a mere rookie cop?"
"Regardless, allowing such a violent criminal to roam the city is extremely dangerous! Especially since Bertram is in the city with only F+ rank abilities.
If he encounters such a criminal, it would be disastrous!" Barton furrowed his brows slightly.
"Investigate thoroughly and compare suspects carefully!" Whitney ordered.
However, what Whitney didn't expect was that the C-rank warrior who killed Jack seemed to have vanished into thin air.
The scene was meticulously cleaned, leaving no trace or clue.
"Everyone, be cautious of such a hidden criminal in the future," the acting police chief warned his officers with a heavy heart.
---
At the martial arts gym, he found Tristian, the captain of the Doomsday Squad, talking with their homeroom teacher, Mr. Javion.
The Jackson Family was becoming more and more insane, first kidnapping Whitney's sister, and now attacking an ordinary F+ rank student. It was clear he was trouble.
Luckily, they didn't let such trash into their Doomsday Squad.
"This is your transfer letter. From now on, you're officially part of the Doomsday Squad," Tristian said, handing over a file folder.
"I thought it would take you another month to get the transfer letter, but you managed to capture the prophetic vision and pass the test so quickly!"
The prophetic vision he referred to was Bertram's foresight of the Jackson Family's young master planning to attack him. Bertram had basically stepped on the young master's head to become an official member of Squad 10.
"This is your mask. In our Doomsday Squad, numbered 10, each member has a mask. Considering your unique situation, we chose a colorless mask for you," Tristian said, handing over an opaque, colorless mask.
"It represents the nonexistent sixth member."
Bertram took the file folder and the colorless mask from Tristian's hands.
The folder was thin, but Bertram felt its weight. After all, it symbolized his connection to a powerful ally.
The mask, though colorless, had an elegant design and lines that gave it a mysterious look when worn.
"Our Doomsday Squad base is in the Kashen District. If you have time, I can take you there now to get familiar with the route," Tristian said.
"Sure, no problem. Thanks, Captain!" Bertram replied excitedly.
The Doomsday Squad base? Could there be a safer place?
For the next simulation, he planned to stay at the base, training daily. With the squad's protection and his own cultivation reaching F+ level, he was determined to survive longer this time.
The first three infinite life simulations had been a psychological nightmare. Each time, he died within a month, and the deaths were always gruesome.
This fourth time, he was determined to achieve a good ending.
Bertram felt unprecedented confidence about this simulation.
Tristian led Bertram to the Doomsday Squad base.
"I'll bring my stuff over this afternoon and move in!" Bertram announced.
Tristian was taken aback. Was he really in such a hurry?
"The sooner I come over, the sooner I can establish a connection with you all. This way, the chances of you appearing in the prophecy scenes will be higher! I can help you better!" Bertram explained to Tristian.
Tristian was deeply moved. Look at their sixth member. Although his cultivation level was quite low, his dedication to the team was impressive. He was far better than those useless Jackson Family members.
"Good, we knew we could count on you!" Tristian exclaimed, patting Bertram on the shoulder with excitement.
"Captain, joining the Doomsday Squad is an honor for me. I won't let you down!" Bertram's face was filled with determination.
The more Tristian looked at Bertram, the more satisfied he felt.
That afternoon, they even helped Bertram move his things from school.
Bertram now had his own room at the Doomsday Squad base.
By the time everything was settled, it was the next day, and it was time to start the Infinite Life Simulation.
"Dina, stand guard outside the door for me. This isn't me ordering you around; you're still young and need to experience the harshness of the world to grow strong. Only then can you shed your disguise and stand tall in front of others!" Bertram placed the Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly on the storage box by the door.
The cold wind blew, making Bertram tighten his coat.
Dina, feeling confused by the harsh environment outside, longed for the warmth of Bertram's embrace.
However, Bertram's words made her reflect. She couldn't afford to be lazy or complacent, or she would always remain in her current unattractive form.
Seeing the Seven-Star Phantom Death Butterfly taking her task seriously, Bertram felt satisfied. It seemed his efforts in educating Dina were paying off.
With Dina sharing his vision and standing guard, Bertram felt an added layer of security.
Satisfied, Bertram began his Infinite Life Simulation.
