When they finished work, Quiana did something kind of unexpected and asked Kelsey if she wanted to go shopping with her.
After thinking about it for a bit, Kelsey agreed. Dexter had called her earlier and invited her to a classmate gathering that evening.
Since she was starting a new life, she thought it'd be a good idea to meet some new friends.
"My husband invited guests over tonight, and I don't have anything new to wear. Can you help me pick something out?" Quiana asked.
"I can, but my taste might not be very good," Kelsey replied.
Kelsey hadn't felt this relaxed in a long time. Being with Quiana made her briefly forget about all the heavy stuff in her past. When they parted ways, Quiana still seemed kind of unwilling to let her go.
"I feel like we really hit it off. Why don't you come over to my place as a guest?" Quiana suggested.
"Isn't your husband having guests over? I don't think it's a good idea for me to come over," Kelsey said.
"He has his guests, and I have mine. This is our home, not just his," Quiana said confidently. "I haven't brought a girlfriend home in a long time. How about you come over for dinner tonight? I don't have many friends here..."
Kelsey didn't really want to turn her down after hearing that.
She sent a text to Dexter, and after they finished shopping, Quiana pulled out her phone and said, "My husband is coming to pick us up. He's waiting on the street below."
With that, she rushed off with Kelsey.
A low-key black luxury car was already parked behind the mall.
Kelsey paused for a second and felt kind of uncomfortable.
She remembered Rhett also had a car of the same brand in his garage, but she couldn't remember the exact name.
As soon as they showed up, a driver stepped out of the car and walked up to Quiana. "Madam."
"Just put the luggage in the trunk," Quiana said, handing him the suitcase and pulling Kelsey into the car.
A man was already sitting inside, and he looked up when he heard the sound.
When he saw Quiana climbing into the car like that, he frowned and said coldly, "Be careful not to hit your head again."
Quiana acted like she didn't hear him and had Kelsey sit next to her.
The car was spacious enough for three people.
After they sat down, Quiana introduced Kelsey to her husband.
"This is my husband, Hunter. He's a doctor."
Kelsey nodded. "Hello, I'm Kaitlyn, a dance teacher who works with Quiana."
Hunter gave her a polite greeting and immediately went back to the tablet in his hands.
His vibe was kind of distant and aloof, but not as cold as Rhett. He had this refined and dignified feeling, but he wasn't super approachable.
Quiana had talked about her husband a lot in front of Kelsey, sometimes without even realizing she mentioned him.
In her words, Hunter was the old-fashioned and unromantic type.
But when Kelsey actually met him in person, she saw that Quiana's husband was young and handsome, and looked like he matched her really well.
The way they interacted also felt really natural. They didn't need to say much to each other to feel close.
Quiana blinked at Kelsey and said, "He always looks like this. Doesn't talk much, just reads his medical books all day. Don't take it personally."
Kelsey smiled and said, "You two have a great relationship."
"Really?" Quiana looked a bit surprised, but then smiled happily. "You have a good eye to notice that!"
She poked the man next to her with her arm and said, "Kaitlyn thinks we have a great relationship. What do you think?"
Hunter didn't look at her, his eyes still fixed on the computer screen. He just lifted his lips a little and said, "As long as you're happy."
Quiana looked really happy and didn't argue. She turned her head and started talking to Kelsey.
The car soon arrived at their destination, a villa that seemed even bigger than the Stardust Villa.
After getting out of the car, Kelsey went to get the luggage, but Quiana grabbed her arm and pulled her inside. "Just leave the luggage to the driver."
Quiana was usually lively and outgoing in training class, but she didn't expect her to be this mischievous in private.
Hunter followed behind them with steady footsteps and shouted from behind, "Quiana, your foot just healed. If you fall again, I won't take care of you."
Quiana stopped and glared at him angrily but obeyed and didn't run anymore.
She complained softly in Kelsey's ear, "This man is just like my dad, always trying to control everything. I hate him!"
Kelsey didn't say anything, just smiled and looked at her with envy.
Hunter was a doctor, not very experienced for his age, but he had a strong academic background, amazing skills, and a mature, stable personality, making him stand out from his peers.
He was also super busy with work.
Even when he got home, he usually went straight to his study to handle work stuff.
Quiana showed Kelsey around the villa for a few laps. "You'll be staying in this room for the next few days. I already cleaned it."
She put Kelsey's luggage in the closet and hurried to take her to the backyard.
At mealtime, Hunter had someone come to tell them the guests had arrived.
Quiana took Kelsey to her room to change clothes.
Hunter had a good eye, and even though he said he wanted Kelsey to help choose, he basically picked everything himself, even Kelsey's outfit.
Kelsey couldn't refuse and just gritted her teeth and changed.
It was a champagne-colored dress, simple and understated, but the silk was good quality and the cut fit perfectly, showing off Kelsey's curves.
With her fair, delicate skin, she seemed to glow.
Seeing herself in the mirror, Quiana was stunned for a moment. Amazement flashed in her eyes.
"Wow, clothes really do make the person! Why don't you dress up more every day?"
She knew Kelsey was pretty, most art students were, but Kelsey usually dressed casually and plainly, so she didn't expect her figure and face to be so eye-catching.
Kelsey looked at herself in the mirror, feeling kind of lost. "I don't have much time, doll."
Ever since her parents died suddenly, she seemed to have grown up overnight and lost interest in dressing up.
Sometimes she'd try to look nice, but only to get a good job or seem more presentable.
After marrying Rhett, she thought about dressing up more, but he didn't care about anything except their nights together, so she just stopped trying.
