"You are beautiful Mama!" he murmured, kissing her forehead before undressing himself and stepping in with her under the gentle cascade of water.
She sighed softly as the warmth hit her skin, leaning against his chest while the water soaked their hair. He ran his hands gently down her back, massaging her tense muscles with slow, strong motions. She let out a quiet hum of relief.
"Such a long day!" he murmured pressing a kiss against her wet shoulder.
"Mhm… and the outcome is satisfactory!" she replied, tipping her head back to look up at him.
He tilted her chin and kissed her deeply, the water streaming down their faces as his hands rested on her hips.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling him closer. His fingers stroked her swollen belly lightly, feeling the small movements inside.
"They have been so calm tonight," he whispered against her lips.
"They feel your presence," she smiled faintly, "They know their daddy is here and won't act mischievous!"
He leaned down to kiss the top of her belly, letting the water continue to fall over them in peaceful silence.
After a while, he rinsed her hair, making sure no shampoo or soap was left behind before wrapping her carefully in a soft towel. He quickly dried himself and carried her back to bed bridal-style.
As he lay her down on the bed, he tucked her in gently before slipping under the covers with her. She turned to snuggle into his chest, her hand resting over his heart.
"Thank you… for everything today," she whispered sleepily, her eyes fluttering closed. How can she not appreciate such a man, even though Lu Ting Zhou ain't her son, she was his stepmother and their bond wasn't bad, but she fell in love seeing how supportive he was without prudding!
He kissed her forehead softly, stroking her damp hair back, "Thank you… for staying by my side, always. I appreciate it!"
He kissed her forehead softly, stroking her damp hair back, "Thank you… for staying by my side, always. I appreciate it!"
She smiled faintly, her breathing slowing down as sleep overcame her.
He held her tightly against him, listening to her soft, even breaths, feeling her warmth.
Outside, the stars continued to twinkle in the silent night sky, as if blessing their peaceful slumber after a long, dark day.
After a busy night, they finally went back to their bedrooms, took a shower, and went to bed. Gabriel was left in the guest room with Song Yaya while Lu Ting Zhou rested in his bedroom after the doctor tended to them.
Old Madam Lu and Old Master Lu were asleep already and knew nothing of what was happening out there.
SATURDAY MORNING AT 11:00
Wan Ruyi opened her eyes slowly. The sunlight through the curtains was soft, but it still made her head ache.
Her body felt heavy. She tried to sit up, but a sharp discomfort in her lower back made her stop midway. One hand went to her stomach, and she slightly panicked.
She let out a slow breath and leaned her head back against the pillow on the headboard, caressing her abdomen while breathing in and out, feeling the discomfort still hanging around her back.
A moment later, the door carefully opened, and Lu Zhi Hao, who was already awake, stepped in with a glass of warm water that he was carrying.
When he saw her trying to balance herself on that headboard while frowning, he walked over immediately worrying she could be feeling bad.
"Don't move too much," he said quietly, setting the glass on the bedside table, "You don't look well." He had noticed after they were back to bed, she was frowning from time to time and heavily sweating.
