Lu Zi Zhen loudly giggled, being called pretty, grinning from ear to ear, "You think I'm pretty?"
Lu Ting Cheng loudly smirked at his shamelessness, "Pretty stupid for telling the cops you wanted to keep racing after being caught. You are so wild."
They both burst into quiet laughter, but the mirth was short-lived as they heard firm footsteps echoing down the corridor. They knew their parents were rushing over.
Lu Zi Zhen hurriedly spoke up, "Place your bets, who do you think is the first one, Mom or Dad? One million betting for the correct answer."
Lu Ting Cheng slightly grunted, "If it's Mom, we might survive with an earful of several words and lectures, but if it's Dad... we're rewriting our wills. You should know that and forget about betting at such an odd hour."
"Tsk..." Lu Zi Zhen smirked.
The door creaked open, ushering the two people in, so that they knew who they would be.
Lu Wan Ruyi and Lu Zhi Hao stepped into view, flanked by two grim-faced lawyers.
The place fell into total silence.
Lu Wan Ruyi was very calm but lethal. "Which one of you thought jail would be a thrilling weekend activity? Mnnhh? How dare you race along the highway through all the places? Couldn't you have raced it at the race course?"
Both brothers stiffened, bowing their heads. They didn't dare face her, knowing how angered she was.
Lu Ting Cheng spoke up in a low voice, "I blame the passenger. It ain't my fault."
Lu Zi Zhen immediately lifted his head like an aggrieved puppy, and without missing a beat, he defended himself, "I'm being framed here, mother."
The tension hung like a stormy cloud, ready for some thunderstorms. Lu Wan Ruyi folded her arms across her chest, her lips twitching in restrained fury.
Lu Zhi Hao remained eerily silent, his unreadable gaze fixed on his sons like a seasoned general surveying two foolish cadets. They have never misbehaved, and this was their first time.
As the silence thickened, the tension in the room thickened, the boys knew how their mother was. The two grim-faced lawyers stood there, still saying nothing, standing like statues behind Lu Wan Ruyi and Lu Zhi Hao. They didn't dare utter a single word before receiving instructions.
Lu Wan Ruyi, who was fuming mad, glared at them, her voice dangerously low, "Framed? You're lucky I'm not framing your smart mouth with a slap. Racing along the highway like a maniac and at an illegal age? What next? Hijacking a plane?"
Lu Zi Zhen instantly dropped his gaze again, feeling apologetic.
Lu Wan Ruyi was truly mad, mostly at Lu Zi Zhen, he was already injured, and now racing? She wanted to check up on his wound, but her husband was around. " Do you know you are breaking the law with your actions? How can you race along the highway like that so carelessly?"
She turned around and gave them her back before pinching her thigh, it was so painful that tears came down her eyes immediately.
She turned around with her eyes tearful! "What would happen if I lost the two of you? Do you know how dangerous that was?" She instinctively wiped her tears away, looking way too dramatic. Even the police officers were shocked to see her cry like that.
They were seeing her for the very first time. Apart from being dramatic, she was too young, but very beautiful. You could see the resemblance to Lu Zi Zhen. But how can such a young woman have such grown kids?
Lu Zi Zhen facepalmed himself! Lu Ting Cheng felt even more embarrassed seeing how the police officers were checking them out, and then at their mother.
"Mama, Mama, Mama, we are sorry.... We won't do it! We won't repeat it!" They hurriedly promised her with those eyes earnestly gazing at her to stop crying because they knew the punishment would be severe, but at least it would be back at home and not be embarrassed so openly in public where everyone was watching.
