William leaped forward, his feet carving a small trench into the ground with every step before he suddenly appeared in front of the large goblin.
He was unaware of the subtle smirk hidden in the shadows on the goblin's face.
"POW!"
The goblin grabs the heft of the spear and pulls William in towards his waiting foot, which slammed hard into his abdomen and sent him skidding along the ground before his feet lost contact with the ground, and he fell onto his back.
William was unable to stop himself from spitting out a mouthful of blood as he flew back. What remained of his shirt had been reduced to tatters by the clawed feet of the goblin.
With a blood mad chuckle, the goblin lunged at William with his teeth bared and claws extended, he barely had time to move out of the way before the goblin was already on top of him with saliva dripping from his fangs.
The Goblin roared as it dropped its claws onto William's position, but when it realized that there was no blood pooling between its fingers, no flesh caught between its nails, it roared out in pain as well as rage when William's daggers slashed the bulging belly that looked like a greased pig and the goblin jumped backward while holding its stomach to prevent any organs from falling out.
The Goblin cried in panic, blood dripping from between his fingers, but not the blood he desired.
"GRAGA NANA!"
The large goblin cried as it waved William in a clear attempt at telling him to leave, but seeing the scared young lady in the background with her blouse torn and her slender frame being only just covered from his hungry gaze.
William's eyes grew stern. He locked eyes with the goblin, and the goblin locked eyes with him.
Both knew that this was it.
This was the final moment.
The final struggle.
So, with a final roar between both of them, they charged at one another, weapons in hand.
The club the goblin wielded swung with such force that a vacuum formed in its place, causing the young woman to fear for her savior.
But at the final moment before the club could strike him, William ducked into a slide with his daggers in hand and, taking advantage of the goblin's wide stance, slipped between the creature's legs with his blades extended outwards, facing the goblin's legs.
"GRAAAAAAAHHH!"
The goblin struggled to turn around but suddenly found itself falling forward.
Looking down, the goblin could see its black blood beginning to spray out uncontrollably, and the inevitability of death started sinking in just before the color drained from its face and the light left its eyes forever.
William stood up with great effort, revealing a thin red gash on the right side of his forehead just above his brows, running through the side of his hair.
William watched in satisfaction as the last vestiges of life left his opponent before turning to the frightened lady crouching behind a fallen horse.
As he approached, the girl noticed a shaft of light piercing through the canopy of trees, casting a holy glow over William's shoulders.
In her delirium, she thought she heard something crazy, something that made her heart stir.
"Are you okay, my lady?"
The girl's eyes sparkled as she heard those words.
She had been waiting for words like those her entire life, from a possible suitor, but between her station as third princess and her less-than-stellar reputation amongst the upper echelon of the aristocrats.
Eventually, whatever shock or adrenaline was keeping her up finally ran out, and she lost consciousness, falling face-first onto the dead horse's torso.
"Sigh, typical, I suppose this is the part where I carry you to safety without a second thought!"
He approached the young woman and checked her leg for injuries. After finding mere bruising, he used the spear as leverage, allowing him to slide her leg out from under the dead horse.
Taking off his shirt, he covered the mostly exposed chest of the young woman and picked her up.
"So light!"
He lifted her a few times like an Olympic barbell and chuckled, but suddenly William heard a sound.
"GRAAAGAAAAAAA!"
It appeared another party or group of goblins had wandered onto the path of all the corpses, and they were closing in, leaving William with no choice but to flee with the girl.
So, he ran in the direction he had set up his camp, his footsteps, while powerful, were also as quiet as a mouse, as William had activated his sneak skill to muffle both his sound and his silhouette.
However, before he can get too far.
"TWICK!"
An arrow struck the tree next to him, and he looked back to see a goblin on a hill pointing at him and yelling out to his comrades.
Suddenly, William was forced to dodge a rain of arrows as he ran through the woods, and thankfully, the trees blocked most of the arrows.
"TWICK, TWICK, TWICK, TWICK, TWICK!"
Arrows continued to rain on him as he ran, and he was beginning to become enraged, but there were too many goblins for him to fight while holding onto a woman, so with a dark look in his eyes, he continued to weave through the trees.
As William was thinking, he had finally made it out of the range of the goblins he was unaware of the desperate last shot of the closest goblin.
The arrow passed through the tree line and managed to weave through the brush before striking William in the back of his shoulder.
"AHHHKK!"
William yelled out and nearly stumbled, but through gritted teeth and slightly wobbly steps, he pushed through and continued his escape unimpeded.
"Drip"
Blood poured from his wound and dripped onto the ground, but he was too focused on his escape to notice.
His foot pushed off the root of a large tree, and he used it to propel himself forward like a bullet through the woods.
Within moments, he was gone as the goblins were unable to keep up and were now out of range.
One of the goblins yelled out in rage.
"GRAAAAAAAAGAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
William turned his head as he heard the noise, but continued unabated by it.
Back on the hill where the goblin was yelling, another goblin approached from behind and patted the other on the shoulder.
"GRAGA, shuga!"
However, soon one of the goblins down below caught the trail of blood and notified his commander, and with an evil look in their eyes, the group left, leaving only two of their brethren to watch the trail.
William arrived back at the small cabin he had erected for himself and laid the unconscious woman on the bed, before walking back outside to the river and grabbing the arrow.
"AAAKKK!"
A searing pain passed through his shoulder as he grabbed the brutal wooden shaft of the arrow, but with a look of pure determination on his face, he pulled with all his might.
His health bar, which was currently at half, suddenly dropped to twenty points, and his vision turned red.
A spray of blood jetted from the wound, but after wrapping the wound with a strip of cloth he had washed in the river to clean the grime off, and cleaned the wound as best as he could before wrapping it with said cloth.
He made a small fire and began cooking some small fish he had pulled from the river, and he ate a small meal of unseasoned fish, which was surprisingly pretty tasty even despite the lack of spices.
William waited for a few hours as his wounds and health bar slowly recovered in tandem, and after the fifth hour, there was only a scar remaining where there had been a previously an open wound.
The unconscious woman woke up shortly after, in a start, her gem-like blue eyes sparkling to life as he ashen blonde eyelids opened.
"W...Where am I?"
She spoke as she sat up, only to realize her chest was covered only by a loose shirt, which fell forward and revealed her round and perky breasts, she scrambled to cover herself when she heard footsteps approaching, and also covered herself with the blanket while pretending to be asleep.
"Thud!"
The makeshift door opened and with her hidden eyes peeking out from under the blanket she could see a handsome young man with dirty blonde hair, he did not appear to be wearing a shirt revealing his strong shoulders and chest as well as his abs.
Her face turned beet red as she continued to look downwards, but when she saw the pants covering the target of her inquiry, her expression grew grave.
It was like someone had splashed water on her face as she slept.
William walked up to the side of her bed with a heated rag and not noticing her being awake began to dab her forehead with the rag.
He did his absolute best to remain professional, but he was a teenager after all and was unable to prevent his eyes from trailing to her chest, which was mostly covered by both his shirt and blanket.
Suddenly, William noticed his dragon was rising and shook his head before returning to the task of whipping the grime from her face.
"Did you really have to be so beautiful, though?"
He whispered as he finished before turning around to go back outside as he walked through the door, he was unable to spot the reddening face of the young woman as her sparkling eyes watched him leave.
Outside in the moonlit campsite William was scrolling through some screen only he was able to see.
He looked at the ongoing quest and noticed it had yet to be completed despite the fact that he had managed to slip the goblins and grew concerned.
"I clearly rescued her... is she still not safe?"
His expression grew grave but soon he moved on to the gains recieved by killing the goblins and was pleasantly surprised.

He had leveled up three times just from the kills, and thinking back on it, he must have gotten quite a bit of it from the large goblin who put up a bigger fight than its lesser brethren.
Thinking about his stat and skill points and where to distribute them, he suddenly had a crazy idea.
"Would it hurt the same way it did if I made my endurance twenty?"
Eventually with a mad look on his face he decided to just bite the bullet and dump the lot of his stat points into endurance.
He felt a sudden cold surge of strange energy within his body that suddenly enveloped his entire being, filling his cells with vitality.
The cool feeling suddenly became searing hot just as quickly as it had arrived, and William dropped to his hands and knees as he began to sweat profusely, his sweat causing the ground under him to be painted black, and he fell onto the dark, viscous mass unable to move as his body was undergoing a brutal transformation.
Before he lost consciousness, he glimpsed his new stats, and even in his current state, his eyes grew wide.

He marveled at the increase in his stats before he was unable to maintain consciousness and collapsed into the strange, viscous ooze.
As he lay there, a pair of slender feet stepped out of the cabin and approached William's unconscious form.
With a series of adorable grunts, she pulled him near the river and began cleaning the black, viscous ooze off of his body.
Her face grew red, however, when she whipped his legs off and accidentally touched something large and hard.
"EEEP!"
She let out as she covered her mouth, fully realizing what she had just touched.
"Are they supposed to be so large?"
She had seen men bathe in rivers before, but had never seen someone with a fifth limb that was quite so monstrous.
Coming to her senses, she shook her head and gently slapped her red cheeks to bring herself out of her reverie before returning to the task of cleansing her savior of the strange dark ooze.
