John's POV:
"Mm," I hummed in response.
"Where should we go?"
"I do not know anywhere in this kingdom, so it is your lead," she said, her eyes still surveying the stable.
I had forgotten—she did not live here. So where exactly did she come from? Were her parents alive? Did they miss her?
I shook my head and gave the horse a slight nudge forward. I could not help her with those questions, but I would try my best to make her happy.
The horse trotted steadily as we left the mansion, until we finally reached our destination. It was a cliff.
"Where are we?" she asked, a mix of curiosity and caution in her voice. I could not blame her—who would not be suspicious if they were taken to the middle of nowhere?
"I do not know what to call it, but as you can see—it is a cliff. I come here most of the time to seek peace and quiet."
From the edge, I could see nothing but emptiness. If someone fell from here… I wondered if they would even land.
