Running after the Elven King who walks really fast, Ash was wearing a big smile on his face for an unknown reason.
"You seem happy, Ash? What's running around your head this time?"
Ray glanced towards Ash.
"I don't really know, Ray. Maybe I was excited about your fight with Demittry. Hehe."
Ash replied catching up to Ray.
"I feel the same, Ash. It's been agaes since we fought each other and I got the feeling that Demittry wasn't a pushover anymore. Don't worry, we'll show you a great fight before your duel against one of my people, and maybe you could get a few pointers from our fight, that is if you can follow our movements."
Ray smiled and amped his walking speed.
Seeing this, Ash was left speechless because he needs to run in order to catch up to Ray's speed who clearly was just walking.
"How is he walking faster than me when I am practically running?"
[I think it's because they were proficient in using their Ki, Ash. When the time comes that you can use your Ki proficiently as well, you will be faster than your current maximum speed.]
"Now you've decided to talk, huh?"
[I apologize, Ash. When you reach the intended level to get all the information you needed, I will eventually answer all your questions. But for now, please understand that I wasn't the one doing all of this, it was the system's restrictions.]
"Sigh. What choice do I have other than to accept the fact that it wasn't you and me against all odds? However, I was still thankful that you were here most of the time. I apologize for not being more appreciative towards you. Don't worry, I will try to change my ways so that we can be more understandable to each other."
[Ash... Are you... Are you proposing your love to me? Stop it, it's making me blush.]
"God damn it, system! I will never open up to you anymore you piece of crap!"
[Just kidding, Ash. Thank you for showing your weak side to me. I also promise to be more useful to you, but I cannot promise it to be all the time.]
"And promise me also that you will stop teasing me most of the time."
[...]
"What's with the silence?"
[It's kinda hard for me not to tease you, Ash. But I promise, and sorry for the unnecessary silence.]
Ray and Ash arrived at the Elven King's study room.
Ray walked inside and Ash followed after.
Inside the room were hundreds of books meticulously arranged in shelves.
"Come here, Ash. I will show you something."
Ray walked towards the center of the room where a single table made out of gold can be seen.
On top of the table, there was a box of transparent glass with a small black box inside.
"This item is the embodiment of the First Elven King - my great great grandfather. After living for a very long time in this kingdom, he suddenly disappeared and this is the only thing he left for his family. Because of it, he became a myth to all of us."
Ray slowly opened up the glass cover and took the black box to show it to Ash.
"Ray, hold up. I don't mean to be a racist or something but, how old is the Elven race exactly?"
Ask asked stopping Ray's story.
"I actually don't have any idea either, Ash as I never Ash my elders about it. But I guess at least a few thousands of years old. I think our race were just as old as yours but you guys were multiplying faster than us and that's because you guys developed your bodies faster than ours."
"Oh, okay."
"Why? Why do you ask?"
"Nothing in particular, it's just that, I thought you guys came into this world after the Big One."
Ash clarifies.
"We came out to the outside world again after the Big One to prevent the world from the destruction brought by those detestable monsters."
[Ding!]
[Congratulations for unlocking a Side Quest - "The Creation of the World"]
[Progress: 1/5]
[25,000 points has been acquired.]
[1st Chapter of the "Book of Creation" has been successfully unlocked.]
"Book of Creation? Do you mean the black book from earlier? I should take a look at that later."
Ash was flabbergasted by the system's sudden notification but he still has a few questions that he wanted to ask to Ray which is why he set it aside at the moment.
"Again? What do you mean by that?"
"All creations in this world were once living in a harmony and coexistence but for some reason they began to sparse, and as millennium goes by, each race became a myth to each other and coexistence never once again occurred into their minds until the Big One. Why did all the races sparse you may ask? Well, I don't know either."
Ash was waiting for another notification from the system as Ray finished his story but nothing came up.
"Hmm, I should take a look about this topic as well. Maybe I could get a few information in the Academy's Library. It's exhilarating to think about."
Ash thought at the moment, clearly forgotten the other story that Ray was talking about.
Seeing that Ash doesn't have questions anymore, Ray began to continue the backstory of his gift.
"So, where was I again? Oh right, the item. This item was supposed to be passed down to every King of this kingdom, but I cannot bear to wear this because I feel like it has a very distinct power, and I cannot unleash it's full potential because of my weak body. Don't worry, the only ones who know about this item are me and my predecessors. If you take it, no one will recognize that it was and Elven Ring."
Ray said, as he hands the black box to Ash.
"What? I don't think I could accept this great gift, Ray."
