I asked Leonard, wondering just how he did not get it. Putting it out there that we are in love would make it more difficult for me when I eventually have to stay alone.
"I meant everything I said,"Leonard replied, and I heaved a sigh out of frustration. Should I scream at him right now? It is not about meaning it or not, even though I knew he didn't mean it.
"What are you saying?" I asked, allowing my frustration to show in my voice and tone. I waited for him to say something else, even though I expected it to be as distasteful as the others he had said so far. But he wasn't saying anything. Instead he just stood there, watching me.
His phone rang suddenly, tearing through the silence in the room, and at the same time breaking the tension which our conversation had caused.
