Chapter 65: Dylan, Teach Me!
The holidays ended, and classes resumed as normal.
Hermione and Harry learned what the object guarded by Fluffy, the three-headed dog, actually was.
But precisely because of this, after getting the answer, they no longer had many thoughts about the Philosopher's Stone.
They were, after all, just a group of first-year students. Their persistence in seeking the truth was merely out of childish curiosity.
Moreover...
Harry had been really busy lately.
Because for the next Quidditch match, Gryffindor had to accept Professor Snape as the referee.
Given Professor Snape's usual attitude towards Harry, and even towards the entire Gryffindor house,
not only Wood, but the entire Gryffindor Quidditch team felt that in this match, Professor Snape was very likely to be keeping a close eye out for any opportunity to deduct points from Gryffindor.
This led to Harry having to endure the oppressive and tense atmosphere created by Wood during training.
Everyone's movements were constantly corrected under Wood's almost harsh scrutiny.
Harry was no exception.
By the time Dylan was almost ready to sneak into the Forbidden Forest and returned to the dormitory in the evening,
he saw Harry lying listlessly on his bed, a look of utter despair on his face.
After learning that Harry was somewhat overwhelmed by the recent busyness, Dylan pursed his lips.
"I learned a new spell. When I'm usually very tired from studying, this spell can help me relax. Would you like to try it?"
Harry, whose eyes had been dull, immediately wanted to get up upon hearing this. However, after some effort, he only managed to lift his head.
"Of course!"
Dylan nodded slightly and took out his wand.
"Serenitas Lux (Tranquil Light)!"
Soft pink particles bloomed from the tip of his wand. As soon as these particles touched Harry, they merged into his body.
Harry felt his tired nerves relax a lot under the effect of this spell.
Harry stretched his limbs and yawned widely.
"Wow, what amazing magic! I feel like I've had a good sleep!"
Dylan curled the corners of his lips. "I found this spell in a very old magic book. If you want to learn it, I can teach you."
Harry's spirits lifted. "Really? Dylan, teach me quickly!"
Dylan nodded.
He simply told Harry the key points of the spell.
This spell was indeed not very complicated, quite easy to learn, and very practical.
"You mainly need to pay attention to stressing the second syllable 're' in the first word and the second word."
"Remember to pronounce it slowly and lingeringly. When chanting, let the airflow out steadily. Some syllables need to be pronounced clearly, while others can be lighter and shorter."
Under Dylan's guidance,
Harry picked up this magic quickly. After more than ten attempts, he successfully mastered the spell.
And when Ron and Neville returned, they saw the scene of Dylan teaching Harry magic.
"What are you guys learning?"
Ron dragged his heavy steps into the room. When he looked up and saw Harry holding his wand with an excited smile on his face, he couldn't help but raise his eyebrows in confusion.
"A very useful spell!"
A sly look flashed in Harry's eyes, and then he suddenly raised his wand and gently waved it at Ron.
"Serenitas Lux!"
A bright light shot out from the tip of his wand, like a golden ribbon, enveloping Ron. Ron, suddenly hit by a spell, was startled and instinctively recoiled.
Neville on the side also widened his eyes.
But the next second, as the golden thread merged into Ron's body,
the heavy weariness that had been weighing on his shoulders now seemed to be blown away by a gentle breeze.
Ron felt his eyelids were no longer so heavy, and even his mind became much clearer.
He blinked in disbelief. "What spell is this?"
"Serenitas Lux! Dylan taught it to me!"
Ron looked at Dylan eagerly. "You guys are secretly learning magic in the dorm? I want to learn too!"
Dylan was a little helpless.
But it was just one spell, and it wasn't too much trouble to teach.
He tried to teach the spell to Ron and Neville, and even Seamus, who came later, he taught as well.
However, by the time Seamus had learned it and even Neville had mastered Serenitas Lux,
Ron still hadn't learned it...
Dylan now finally understood why Hermione usually gave Ron such unfriendly looks.
"It's getting late. I'll teach you again if I have time tomorrow."
Dylan politely refused Ron's request to teach him one more time.
"Just once, the last time, I promise!"
Dylan first tidied up the books he would need for class tomorrow, put them in his backpack, and then stored them in the system panel.
Hearing Ron's words, he couldn't help but glance back at him.
"That's what you said when Neville learned the spell."
Ron stammered.
Dylan shook his head. "Don't worry, since you want to learn, I will definitely teach you—but not today, I need to get ready for bed."
Ron sighed and nodded somewhat dejectedly. "Alright."
After lying down on the bed,
Ron and Harry's conversation shifted from the Quidditch match to Professor Snape.
Ron was a little puzzled, putting his hands behind his head and turning to look at Harry. "That greasy-haired guy always looks like he wants to eat you alive. I didn't expect him to actually save you from Quirrell."
Harry shook his head. "I don't understand either."
After tidying up, Dylan cast a Scourgify on himself, then lay down on the bed, grabbed Coal Ball, and tucked him into his arms.
"In any case, Professor Snape is a qualified teacher, and protecting students is also his responsibility—actually, I think Professor Snape is quite easy to talk to, right? Maybe he's just not good at expressing himself?"
Ron exclaimed incredulously, "Are you sure he's not good at expressing himself? One sentence from him can directly choke someone to death!"
"You were right there the last time he scolded me, didn't you hear what he said?"
"Oh! Mr. Weasley, is your brain stuffed with cockroach droppings? Or have you turned your head into a mixture pot of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans?"
"Are your hands under the Immobilus Charm? You can't even hold the ingredients steady. I don't think you have what it takes to learn potions. Perhaps wiping windows at Honeydukes in Hogsmeade Village would be more suitable for you!"
Ron imitated him vividly, even his tone was similar.
After a pause, Ron glanced at Dylan. "Sometimes you say things that are quite choking too. Looking at it this way, you should actually be in Slytherin."
Dylan twitched the corner of his mouth and rolled his eyes.
"Ron, since you know I can also say things that are very sharp, are you still going to talk to me like that?"
Ron's sharply downturned mouth immediately stiffened, he shrank his neck, and then gave a sheepish smile.
