Chapter 64: That's How Unofficial History Comes About
"Know what?"
Harry and Ron both leaned their heads closer.
Dylan, however, was still gnawing on the durian.
Hermione opened her bag and then took out a book from it.
"This is another gift Dylan gave me."
"What? Why did Dylan prepare two gifts for you?" Ron exclaimed, wide-eyed.
Hermione waved her hand. "That's not the point. The point is, guess what I found in this book?"
Dylan glanced at the Legendary Alchemists in Hermione's hand.
"Alchemy? Did you learn how to turn things into gold?" Ron asked, puzzled.
Harry's eyebrows shot up. "Alchemy? Headmaster Dumbledore is also an alchemist. He gave me an Everlasting Bloom for Christmas."
"That's something Headmaster Dumbledore created using alchemy by merging magic and special plants. This flower can even change color with my mood!"
"Hey! Why didn't Headmaster Dumbledore give me a gift?" Ron's eyes widened even further.
But neither Harry nor Hermione paid him any attention.
Hermione quickly flipped through the pages of the book. "The Nicolas Flamel we've been looking for is an alchemist! But the amazing thing is, he was a 14th-century person!"
"This book records many of his alchemical creations, including the Philosopher's Stone!"
Harry blinked. "The 14th century? That's hundreds of years ago, right?"
Ron exclaimed, "So the person we're looking for is someone from hundreds of years ago! No wonder we couldn't find Nicolas Flamel's name in the contemporary magical Who's Who we searched through in the library!"
Hermione glanced at him, her eyes unfriendly. "Stop talking so much nonsense and listen to me!"
Dylan was sitting right next to the three of them, so he inevitably heard their conversation.
After hearing Hermione's attitude towards Ron, some memories from his previous life suddenly popped into his head.
"I remember someone on a forum once analyzed whether Ron Weasley had used the Imperius Curse on Hermione Granger to make her fall in love with him."
At the time, when Dylan saw this theory, he actually seriously pondered it for three days.
The person who put forward this view believed that Ron might have used a very dark method to win Hermione's heart.
And that person spoke eloquently, saying that Ron and Hermione's conflicting relationship had been very tense from their first year, with frequent arguments, and their personalities were completely different.
They also said that Ron's exposure to dark magic had affected his sanity.
This was specifically manifested in the final book, where Ron appeared extremely emotional due to wearing the locket Horcrux.
Furthermore, in Barty Crouch Jr.'s (disguised as Professor Moody) class, the students were taught the Unforgivable Curses, including the Imperius Curse.
Ron even successfully used the Imperius Curse on the goblin Griphook in the second part of the final book, which showed his proficiency with the spell.
Of course, after thinking about this theory for three days, Dylan came to a conclusion—
That's how unofficial history comes about.
After all, in the original book, it wasn't Ron who used the Imperius Curse on Griphook, but Harry...
Also, he still vividly remembered a comment that refuted this view.
That comment said that Ron in the original book was particularly charming, with a special personal charisma that almost any woman would fall in love with.
This also meant that Ron would never use the Imperius Curse on a woman; his charm was evident.
The comments below were unanimously saying that this person must also have been under the Imperius Curse. These comments made Dylan burst out laughing for three days.
Of course, in many details, the original book and the movie's presentation were different. Dylan was now in this world.
He couldn't simply determine whether he was in the world of the original book, the world of the movie, or a combination of both.
—After all, Hermione in the original book wasn't that beautiful.
In any case, he had lived here for ten years and had become a part of this world.
No matter what the future held, he only needed to thoroughly learn magic, and then he would have the ability to cope with any situation!
"You go on, you go on," Ron said, stabbing a sausage fiercely with his fork.
Hermione glanced at him, then lowered her voice again. "According to the book, Nicolas Flamel was the greatest alchemist in history. He created the Philosopher's Stone over six hundred years ago!"
"The book also says that the Philosopher's Stone can turn base metals into pure gold!"
"What's more, it can create the Elixir of Life, and the body of the person who drinks it will never perish!"
Harry and Ron both widened their eyes. This was something they had absolutely no idea about.
"The Philosopher's Stone can do that?"
Dylan finished the last bite of his durian and nodded to himself.
Yes, ignoring the Philosopher's Stone's ability to grant eternal life, it could also turn things into gold.
"With the Philosopher's Stone, I can let my mum and dad rest a bit and create a lot of wealth myself. Then, even if the system wants to charge me ten million British pounds, I won't be short of money."
Dylan pulled out a napkin and wiped his mouth.
"However, even without relying on turning things into gold, maybe directly devaluing the British pound and then using other means to acquire it, I wonder if the system would acknowledge that in terms of spell refinement fees."
Dylan pondered as he listened to Hermione's excited explanation.
"Nicolas Flamel has lived from the 14th century to the present day! The only Philosopher's Stone in the entire wizarding world is in his possession!"
"And when I was at home, I wasn't idle either. I found out that Flamel celebrated his 665th birthday last year!"
Ron was taken aback. "Did you really need to look that up? Couldn't you just calculate it?"
Hermione paused, then glared at him fiercely.
"You're being a bit verbose!"
Harry's eyes were shining. "Now that we know who Nicolas Flamel is, doesn't that mean Fluffy is guarding the Philosopher's Stone?"
Hermione nodded. "That's right, that's exactly it!"
With that, she looked up at the people beside her. "This time, it's all thanks to Dylan's help! Otherwise, we wouldn't know when we would have found out who Nicolas Flamel was."
Dylan blinked. "I just saw that you liked to study and gave you this book. The rest has nothing to do with me."
Hermione raised the corners of her mouth and smiled. "No matter what, thank you for giving me the clue."
"It's also lucky that I was a bit bored when I was at home and read through the entire book, which is how I found out who Flamel was!"
Ron swallowed the sausage in his mouth. "Bored and not looking for fun or playing games, but actually reading..."
He shivered twice. "It's really incomprehensible."
