Zane's POV
Arrrgh. I feel like my head is going to explode.
I gently opened my eyes slowly and gradually as it felt almost impossible to do so. But somehow, I managed it.
And instantly, I regretted it.
The pain....God, the pain. It was unbearable. Like someone was trying to split my skull open with a sledgehammer. That would've been bad enough, but to make matters worse, my three masters were here, hovering around me like vultures with worry stamped on their faces.
Alfie, Cassian, Rhys and Simon, the ever-serious doctor who was still tending to me.
I wanted nothing more than to close my eyes again, feign sleep, pretend I hadn't woken up at all. But it was too late. They had already seen me.
"You're finally awake, Zane," Cassian's voice broke the silence, laced with relief as he let out a heavy sigh and moved to sit beside me. His usually vibrant eyes were shadowed with concern. "You got me so scared. How are you doing, boo boo?"
