I got into the kitchen just in time to grab the water bottle and took a sip, my hands clutched to my chest as I swallowed, letting its chill cling to my throat and travel down my spine.
I let out a small sigh of relief, dropped the bottle, and returned to the dining room.
The first place my eyes strayed to was the table where I had left my phone. My eyes widened in shock when I couldn't spot it.
I hurried over to check the seat and found it there. I let out a small sigh, picked it up, and headed for the staircase.
"Mum, aren't you coming to watch the movie with us? It's quite interesting, and you'd love it," Dav invited, and I grumbled.
"Not really, cutie. Mum has something to do now," I answered, trying to dismiss the invitation, but I couldn't.
"Please," he insisted.
"Auntie, why not join us? It's fun, you know," Annabel added, and then Mum's urging gaze flipped toward me.
At that point, I felt I had no option but to slowly move toward where they sat.
