Catherine
I stood still for a while, my mind trying to wrap around it. It was the first time she'd ever knocked at my door.
After a brief moment, I walked up to the door and opened it. Her warm smile greeted my eyes, and I smiled in response.
"Auntie, can I come in?" she asked. I blinked and answered,
"Sure," I tried to mask my surprise.
When she entered, I closed the door and moved toward her as she took a seat on the couch. I walked over to the bed and sat down.
"Auntie, I just came to check up on you and to know what you got for me. I heard you went out with Dav," she said with a warm smile.
"That's fine. I'll tell the maid to get yours for you later. I only got a few things for Mum and Dav." I paused to observe her expression, but it was unreadable.
"Hope you aren't upset?" I asked.
She blinked. "Not at all. At least I wasn't expecting anything less," she replied, and I winced, not fully understanding what she meant.
