What the heck happened?
The questions kept spinning in my head. My heart felt heavy and dark. I stared at the screen of her phone over and over, unable to stop the flood of thoughts hovering in my mind.
One thing was clear, something wasn't right. I pulled out my phone, copied the number I saw on her screen, and set the phone back on the headrest. Then I lay back down on the bed.
The bathroom door opened, and Emilia walked out. Her face was blank, cold. Water glistened on her skin, and a towel clung to her body.
She walked to the closet to grab her clothes. A few seconds later, she took her phone from the headrest and turned to leave, then froze.
"Aren't you going to apologize for how you acted yesterday?" she asked, her eyes sharp.
I blinked, still thinking about what I had just seen.
"I don't think I did anything wrong," I said flatly.
"So now you're pretending you didn't take her side?" she snapped, rolling her eyes.
