Ever since he broke through to rank 3 and could use his second bloodline, the rate at which he could absorb energy from his bloodline plane and condense stars had tripled. Which is why not even a full month after his last breakthrough, Adam's eighth star was already nearing completion. And he was determined to complete it before the outing on Saturday. Every little increase in strength counted. You never know when you need it.
Adam spent the rest of the day doing just that, trying to complete his star, but at the end he had to yield to hunger and exhaustion. When his Consciousness came back to the material world, it was already ten pm. Adam exchanged for a quick meal, and went to sleep. The next day, Adam went through the morning run as usual, and managed to break a new record. It was his best so far, two hours and twenty eight minutes, and his endurance was also building up.
Since the the schedule was implemented, some of the courses in the academy had to be adjusted. Except for the combat class that is, which is on Monday and Thursday. The rest of the classes that is, The space coordinates class, the alien races class, the history class, the piloting class, and the profession classes. These classes had to take turns in the remaining three free days of the week.
Today they had combat class since it was Thursday. Adam and his friends soon arrived at the combat class. Just as the trio entered the combat grounds, eyes fell on them... no on Adam. Whispers were flying in the air, -"Yeah that's him!" -"I heard the rumours that he was lady Aurora's secretary!" -"And you actually believe it?!" -"When Rick went to register his group yesterday, he heard it!"
"Am I missing something?!" Tokito whispered to both Adam and Owen. He didn't understand what was happening, even a blind man could tell the gossiping was about them since it started the moment they appeared. "Adam is Aurora's secretary. And she's also been the one training him!" Owen said without missing a beat. "Whaaaat!" Tokito exclaimed making the already not so subtle glances at the trio become even more obvious.
"Since when?!" Tokito inquired. "Around a month give or take!" Owen replied. "Damn Adam, you're killing it!" Tokito gave a thumbs up. Adam deadpanned at Tokito's reaction. "And guess what, that's not all!" Owen said his eyes glinting mischievously . "What more is there?!" Tokito asked. "She's the last member of our group!" Owen announced. "Why didn't you tell me you roll like this?!" Tokito shook Adam's shoulders. "I don't roll like that or any way. Stop pestering me!" Adam took Tokito's arms off his shoulders.
Just then, someone approached the trio, "If it isn't our dear young master Owen!" Quinn said as he arrived between them. "What Quinn, you decided to speak in class for like the first time since we came to this academy, and you choose to speak to me?!" Owen quipped. "Ah it wasn't you I was hoping to speak to, you're just in the way!" Quinn replied. "Actually I heard some rumours flying around, and came to verify them!" he said glancing at Adam.
"Great, another idiot taking an interest in me, hope it doesn't cause more trouble!" Adam said in his mind. "I heard this young man here is aquatinted with Aurora, Adam was it?!" Quinn said with a sly smile. "Rather curious Owen, don't you think?, Anyway just wanted to verify, I'll leave you guys to your devices" Quinn said before walking away. "That dude sure is creepy!" Tokito voiced out. "Tell me about it!" Owen said. "It's the first time I've seen or heard him speaking!" Adam said.
Just then instructor Blake and the other two instructors for the combat class appeared. The class went on for the next four hours. The cadets were getting better at fighting, learning from earlier mistakes, and so on making each fight last longer than before, especially if the two duelists are in the same range of power. Also adam was starting to think that the 'random lot' for the duels were somehow staged. Because how is it that he hadn't met any rank 2 cadet. Sure the rank two's were only about eleven in number, with Jared being the only rank 2 out of the top ten, but still.
After the class was over, "Hey Owen, are you free today?!" asked Adam. "Yes why?!" Owen asked curiously. "I was hoping you could help me over at Aurora's office. I have a feeling I'll be meeting some young masters with sticks up their asses today. It'll help if you're there!" Adam explained. "Sure!" Owen replied. "Wait, you agree? this easily?!" Adam asked stunned. "Of course, besides I want to mess with some of them!" Owen shrugged. "Okay meet me there in half an hour!" Adam said and headed for the dorms.
When Adam got to the dorms, the first thing he did was take a shower, he didn't go directly to Aurora's office because, one, he had already registered the bulk of the first years, most of the elite and normal cadet that is. For the special cadets, he had only registered one group. So Adam had registered around a hundred and fifty groups. And two, because of the combat class today, he was feeling sweaty and wanted to take a shower.
—Equip!— Adam said after choosing a cloth to wear. The clothes on the hanger disappeared and appeared on his body. "Now that's how to change without stressing yourself" Adam mused. —Open!— he said as he reached the door. The door opened by itself and then Adam stepped out. —Close!— "Wish I could use —displace!— anytime!" Adam muttered as he entered the elevator. "I can't be walking around like a beggar!" he muttered in amusement.
After taking the portal, he arrived back at the academic block, and then headed straight to Aurora's office. 'Thank God it ain't as crowded as yesterday!' Adam heaved a sigh of relief. Almost all of the cadets present in the lobby were in the special class. Adam saw some pretty familiar faces, and none of them protested as Adam moved Infront of them and into Aurora's office, after all, they all had heard the rumours, and Adam was the topic of gossip in class earlier today. Even as he moved to the office' door, some kept whispering about him.
Adam entered the office at Aurora's beckoning and suprisingly instructor Cornwell was in the office. Both she and Aurora were sitting on the luxury couches aside in the office. "Lady Aurora, instructor Cornwell!" Adam greeted masking his surprise. "I must say my lady, it really was a good idea having a little assistant like this!" instructor Cornwell commented lazily as she took a glance at Adam. Adam ignored the obvious jab, what could he do anyway, argue with a rank 1? just because of a jab? Absolutely not, his pride was way below that.
"There's the tablet!" said Aurora gesturing to her desk. With a subtle nod, Adam went over to the desk and took the tablet, and with an "excuse me!", he went outside. After Adam went out, instructor Cornwell's lazy attitude vanished and solemnity overtook her features. "You were saying he saw 'the other one'?!" she asked with disbelief to which Aurora merely nodded. "Then how the hell is he still alive?!" instructor Cornwell continued. "Language Evelyn!" Aurora intoned. "Sorry my lady, I was just baffled!" Evelyn bowed in apology. "No need, It was only for a brief moment, and the reason he's not dead is because.... 'the other one' is intrigued by him!" said Aurora.
"Is there something special about him?! Evelyn asked curiously. "Hmmm there is" Aurora hummed. "What?!" "You do not need to know that!" Aurora dashed Evelyn's hope almost instantly. "Unless he talks about the other one, I won't say anything about him. Since at that point he's doomed anyway!" "As you wish. I'll take my leave then, my lady!" Evelyn bowed and disappeared in a flash of light.
Meanwhile the moment Adam went outside of Aurora's office coincided with the time Owen arrived at the looby. There were only about twenty five cadets currently here to register. And the first in line was surprisingly Aurelia Snow. While Adam entered the cabin/cubicle, Owen leaned on the counter. As Aurelia came to the counter, "Hey Aurey!" Owen winked at the snow haired girl. Aurelia wasn't amused, "Watch what you say or I'll freeze your tongue off!" Aurelia shot sharply. "Fiesty, I like it" Owen grinned further. Even Adam at this point had to admit Owen was creepy.
Adam's voice cut the budding tension as he asked, "What are the names of those in your group?!" Hearing that, Aurelia turned away from Owen and towards Adam. She recognized him, not from the rumours, but during the mock trial, he was the guy with that Tokito guy. And both have been hanging out with Owen lately. "Aurelia Snow, Gabriel Snow, Asher Vale, Raj Sharma, and Reena Los!" Aurelia recited.
