Chapter 47 - Nearing breakthrough

Adam made his own conspiracy theory and nodded to himself as if he had just figured out something big. "It'll be best for me to stay away from her. But how is that even possible, it's not like I can resist." Adam knew he would have to find a way, but for now, he would tread carefully around her. But then another thought occured to Adam. 'What about my second bloodline?!' He had used it to freeze her after all, but he was betting or rather hoping that she wouldn't remember, judging by her mental state at that moment. But his hopes were dashed, because the next day, they were in History class, Adam was listening to the boring recitation of the pot bellied instructor Charles when a ping rang out from his smart bracelet.

And when he checked, a message had been sent to him from none other than Aurora. The message was; "After this class, come to my office immediately!" Resisting the need to sigh, Adam flicked the hologram away, but not without sneaking a glance at Aurora. He felt some sort of unease even though she looked like she always has, he feared her craziness could return at anytime. "What's wrong with you dude?!" Owen asked perplexed. "Nothing!" Adam replied. "You're acting uncomfortably!" Tokito pointed out.

"Nah it's just your eyes!" Adam replied. "And speaking of mood swings, it seems you're back to normal!" he said turning to Owen. "You bet I am!" Owen grinned. 'Its good!' Adam thought, since a few days ago Owen had been acting weird, and was uncharacteristically non hyper—verbal. But it seems he finally got his shit back together. 'And now it is I acting weird!' Adam thought. Well, nothing I can do about it.

"Yeah about the outing, do you guys have any one in mind?! Tokito inquired. "Hmmm I'm thinking of someone, but I don't know if she'll agree!" Owen said. "Who, your girlfriend?!" asked Tokito subjecting him to Owen's glare. "Okay my bad!" Tokito conceded. "But I was thinking of Lara, she was in the same group as Adam and I during the mock trial. I could ask her if it's okay with you guys!" "Lara huh, I don't see any problem with it!" Adam replied. He had met her again yesterday, and her personality was less annoying than the rest of the idiots in the special class.

"Is she beautiful?! Owen asked. "W-w-what?" Tokito almost fell off from his seat. "I asked if she was beautiful?!" Owen said. "I heard what you said, but how is that even relevant?!" Tokito asked in disbelief. Meanwhile Adam refrained from commenting. "It's confidential!" Owen replied. "Yeah right!" Tokito scoffed.

"What about you Adam, do you have anyone in mind?!" Owen inquired. "Not at the moment!" Adam shook his head. "It's decided then, after class, Tokito would go talk to this Lara girl, while I go talk to the one I have in mind!" said Owen.

After the class was over, Adam excused himself from both Tokito and Owen, then headed to Aurora's office, and just like yesterday, the lobby was already crowded by cadets waiting to register their groups. Today Adam had an even harder time reaching the door to the office even though he came two hours earlier than yesterday. "Come in!" Aurora's voice echoed as calm as ever. Adam pushed the door open and entered the room, and there she was, there was no hint of the unhingedness that was in her the day before.

"What are you waiting for?!" Aurora's voice echoed as she raised her head to look at Adam. "Hmmm?!" Adam hummed in response. "Take the tablet and go do your job. I had to ask you to come early due to the crowd outside!" Aurora continued. 'Oh!' Adam thought in realization. 'So it's because of that. And here I thought it was because of my second bloodline. It seems my hope came true, she really did forget about my second bloodline'.

"With pleasure!" Adam smiled and went closer to her desk to get the tablet. After that he went out the lobby to the lobby leaving Aurora by herself. Then a voice echoed in the room, "Do you think he'll tell anyone about yesterday?!" The voice came out in echoes like that of wailing ghosts. "He won't!" a calm voice interjected. "You sound so sure. But if he does I'll be the architect of his end hehehe!" the echoing voice giggled. "No, I'll kill him myself!" the calm voice interjected. "Now go back to slumber, or I'll suppress you again!" said the calm voice. The room went silent, but the eerie thing was that both the voices were coming from Aurora's mouth.

Meanwhile after Adam got outside, "Hey the bastard's come out!" shouted a cadet. "Who the hell said that?! Adam also shouted making the lobby become silent. "Good!" Adam smiled. "Now that you're quiet..." he started but was interrupted. "Punk, the fuck you think you are, just because you're hanging around with Owen doesn't mean shit!" a cadet mocked. 'A special class cadet. seems they've started coming to register!' Adam mused. By now Adam knew the faces of everyone in the special class, but he decided to mess with the guy a little.

"Hmmm, who is this bozo? I've never seen you before!" Adam said with a straight face. "Everyone move away, let me teach this punk a little lesson!" said the cadet as he started flaring his aura. "I don't know about you but I certainly don't want to be causing trouble in front of lady Aurora's office!" Adam said. "You see, I don't know if you've heard from those that registered yesterday, but lady Aurora authorized me to do the proceedings. So unless you want to stay here till tomorrow, I suggest you keep quiet and stay in line!" Adam concluded.

The cadets grumbled just like yesterday but still got in line. Then Adam went into the cabin, and started calling cadets from the line. Adam was deep into work, when a voice interrupted him. "Dude, the fuck you're doing here!" "Owen?!" Adam raised his head and saw the crowd parting as Owen sauntered towards him. "I'm registering the groups for the outing!" Adam replied. "Why? I mean wasn't Aurora supposed to do it?" Owen inquired.

"It's my job!" Adam replied. "What?!" "I'm her secretary!" "Since when?!" "Hmm, it's been almost a month I think!" said Adam. "What, why didn't you tell me?!" Owen inquired. "You never asked!" Adam shrugged. "Where did you think I was getting points from?!" "Wait don't tell me..." Owen trailed off. "Yes she was the one training me. Owen's mind was chaotic right now, Aurora, the same Aurora that he knew, who was like an emotionless doll, was training someone, and paying that person on top, a boy no less.

"Then this makes it easier, help me convince Aurora to be on our group!" Owen said to Adam. "Absolutely not!" Adam replied. "What, why?!" "I do not intend to be on edge every moment of the outing!" Adam replied. Owen was about to protest, but then realized that with Aurora on their group, he won't be able to do as he pleased during the outing. "You're actually right!" Owen nodded in realization. But just then a ping came from both of their smart bracelets almost simultaneously.

"It's Tokito, he said the Lara girl has agreed to join!" Owen said after checking the message. "Bad news!" said Adam after checking his own message. "What?!" Owen asked hearing the tone with which Adam spoke. Adam's answer was expanding a hologram from his bracelet. On the hologram read, "Reserve a place for me in your group!" But the thing was the name above, Aurora.

Owen was left slack jawed at the revelation, but Adam sighed and said, "We can't escape it now!" "I'll register the group, you can go now, you're obstructing me from my doing my job!" Adam said. "Tsk" Owen clicked his tongue and headed for the exit, but not before barking a "The hell you're looking at!" at the cadets whose eyes were fixed on him. Adam continued registering the groups, and in two hours or so, there weren't any cadet left in the lobby. Thankfully Aurora was still in the office today, Adam did not want another spectacle of what happened yesterday to happen today again.

After giving her the tablet, he headed back for the dorms. "Should I go to the restaurant?" Adam pondered. "Nah I'll exchange for something!" he concluded. Soon he reached his dorm room, he hadn't done anything after the morning run that made him sweat, so he was still fresh, which meant no need for a shower, but Adam, it had already became a habit. After his shower, he exchanged the ingredients he had in stock for a meal, had his fill, before sending his consciousness into his bloodline plane.

The stark contrast between the starry sky and the silver domain never ceases to amaze Adam. But today it was the nearly completed star that had his attention. Ever since he broke through to rank 2 and could use his second bloodline, the rate of absorbing energy from his bloodline plane and condensing stars had tripped. Which is why not even a full month after his last breakthrough, Adam's eight star was already nearing completion. And he was determined to complete it before the outing on Saturday. Every little increase in strength counted. You never know when you'll need it.
