"Man who knew political power could be so entertaining!" Adam mused as he sat down. Mind you most of cadets that were coming to register were either in the normal or elite class. Adam didn't see a single cadet from the special class... yet. As Adam opened the tablet, he read about how the registration goes. Basically, the one registering the group would name all five members of said group, and then choose a group name from the name of one of the members. Pretty simple and straightforward.
Soon Adam called the first cadet on the line. "What are the names your group?!" Adam inquired as he set a hologram between he and the cadet so the cadet could see if he typed any of the names wrong. As the cadet called, Adam typed. "Under whose name would the group be?! Adam asked. "My name!" the cadet replied. "Do I look like I know your name?!" Adam looked at the cadet as if he was retarded. "Oh sorry, the name should be 'group Yoo'!" "Great, your group has been registered!" Adam concluded.
"Thanks!" the cadet nodded. "Next!" Adam called after the cadet left. The next cadet was an enthusiastic blonde girl. "What are the names in your group?!" Adam inquired. "Aren't you excited about the trip?!" the girl asked enthusiastically. "No I'm not!" Adam deadpanned. "Now the names in your group!" he continued. "What why?!" the girl inquired. 'She's starting to get on my nerves!' Adam sighed inwardly. "The last outing made me spend weeks in bed. Now give me the names in your group or I call the next person!" Adam warned.
Time sped by as Adam diligently did his job, two - three hours later, he was done with the a little over a hundred cadets in the lobby. "Damn, that was exhausting!" Adam muttered as he slumped back on the chair. "Maybe that's the reason why Aurora delegated the task to me. Either that or she didn't want to deal with obnoxious kids. But then again they wouldn't dare to act out in her presence" he mused. With an exhausted sigh, he stood up and turned to enter the office, but there was no "come in!", so he knocked, but there still wasn't any response. "This girl... don't tell me she actually left!" he muttered in disbelief.
"I should call her first!" he decided. When he became Aurora's secretary, they had exchanged codes, but he had never seen the need to call her before. But now he didn't know whether he was supposed to take the tablet with him, or give it back to her. As the call connected, "Who's this?!" her ever apathetic voice sounded from Adam's bracelet. "It's me Adam!" Adam replied. *Silence* Adam was waiting for her to ask why he called, but Aurora remained silent. "About the tablet, should I go with it, or..." Adam started but was interrupted.
"Bring it to me!" she stated.
"But you aren't in the...." Adam started but was once again interrupted. "Bring it to the dorms!"
Aurora stated or demanded. One could never truly tell with her emotionless voice. Well... okay?!" Adam said unsure. He wasn't so sure about going to her dorm room. "But she didn't specifically say her dorm room right?! All she said was 'bring it to the dorms!'" Adam mused. 'If only the tablet wasn't that important!' Adam thought. The tablet was the faculty's, and he didn't want anything to do with it, if it was Aurora's, he would have held on to it till tomorrow.
It was just shy of 6pm when Adam left the academic block. Soon he emerged from the portal station at the dorms. "I should eat something first" he hummed. So he made a beeline to the restaurant which was blooming with cadets. He even saw most of the cadets that had came to register earlier. "What should I eat?" he pondered after taking a seat. "Is someone unsure about what to order?" a teasing voice echoed beside Adam. He looked up to see a familiar girl in a waitress outfit.
"Lara?! since when do you work in the restaurant?!" Adam asked. Lara was Adam and Tokito's partner in the mock trial, and Adam had met her a few times after that, but this was the first time he saw her in the restaurant. "Since earlier today, apparently one of the girls quit, and I had the chance to take up the vacancy!" she shrugged. "But that aside, what would you like to eat?!" she asked.
"A malevolent bunny steak and a fruit salad I guess!" Adam said. The malevolent bunny was a bloodthirsty rank 3 beast, it thrives in hunting, and was as big as a human. "Great, your order will be ready in a few!" she replied enthusiastically.
After Adam had his meal, he finally decided to head to the dorms. After he entered the elevator, he tapped the screen for the top floor, and in three seconds, he had reached the floor. As the doors of the elevator opened, Adam suddenly felt it, something was wrong. He wasn't sure what was, but something was definitely wrong. And then there was the singular door on the floor, Aurora's dorm room, it was slightly open.
"Ummm... lady Aurora?!" Adam hesitantly called as he neared the door. But there was no answer. "Lady Aurora?!" he called again, but this time his body was tense, ready to act, he pushed the door open, and there he saw her, sitting crosslegged like a captivating statue, the only thing wrong was the aura she was exuding. The right part of her body exuded her usual purple aura, while the left side exuded a malevolent golden aura.
"The fuck is wrong with her?!" Adam couldn't help but mutter not knowing that was the one mistake he shouldn't have done. Her eyes sprang open, it still had the same swirling patterns like an abyss, but the thing was that one of the eyes was purple, while the other was golden in color. And then something happened that sent chills down Adam's spine. Aurora's lips curled upwards into a captivating smile that could make lesser men bow. But Adam wasn't captivated, at least not for more than a second, because the smile oozed danger.
"You!" she started, her voice came out in echoes that sounded more like the wailing of malevolent ghosts. "Yeah she's definitely lost it!" Adam inwardly muttered to himself. His body tensed, ready to bolt as Aurora or whatever she currently was started stepping closer to him. Each step she took mounted pressure on Adam, as if gravity was pushing him down. But he knew that the weight and pressure was merely psychological.
As she came closer to him—the captivating smile still plastered on her face, he could barely breath much less run, but mustered his will and managed to mutter —Freeze—, with the intent to freeze her where she stood. Aurora's body stopped for barely two seconds, before she broke out of the bind out of pure strength, or perhaps sheer will. Her smile grew wider, but it only seemed to unnerve Adam more.
"Such a fascinating bloodline you have there!" Her voice echoed. "I've decided not to kill you!" she stated as she removed the mounted pressure off him, making him fall to his knees gasping. Then suddenly the golden aura on her body receded, and the golden eye turned back to purple. The smile on her face smoked away, and her face turned to the usual expressionless features.
Meanwhile Adam was still on his knees gasping for breath, 'Decided not to kill me? What she was planning to kill me before?!' he thought shaken. "She's lost a few screws, no that wouldn't count, she's completely crazy" Adam muttered in his mind. Then he suddenly heard her voice, "The tablet!" "What?!" Adam muttered looking at her. She had changed completely from moments ago, she had become the regular Aurora again. "The tablet I told you to deliver!" she said.
"Oh right!" Adam replied after a few moments of silence and brought said tablet out of his storage space and handed it to her. "Get out!" she ordered. "Hmmm?!" Adam hummed. "Also, forget what you saw today!" she stated with a tone of finality. Adam didn't think anymore and quickly left the the floor, lest she lost it again. A few seconds later, the elevator stopped at the ninth floor. The first thing Adam did when he entered his room was slump on the couch.
"Damn, thought I was gonna die in there!" he muttered under his breath. "She's damn crazy, but it's kind of fitting, maybe it's the universe' way of balance. I mean she got the looks, which was an understatement, it was more like the looks got her. She's got the power, a three starred rank 2 at the age of sixteen. Got the background, the De Silva family which is renowned even among the big seven. She's got the brains too. Of course it had to be balanced in some way. And that way was probably mental illness!" Adam made his own conspiracy theory and nodded to himself as if he had just figured out something big. "It'll be best for me to stay away from her. But how is that even possible, it's not like I can resist".
