Chapter 98
The next morning, we stood in front of the guild board again, collectively pretending like we weren't completely exhausted from emotionally volatile opera rats and a sword with the ego of a minor noble.
Finn tapped the board enthusiastically. "This one looks normal."
I raised an eyebrow. "Define normal."
"Escort mission for a researcher to the forest caves for some fieldwork. No rodents. No cursed objects. No rat ballads. Just science."
I squinted over Finn's shoulder. "No mention of hostile threats?"
"None."
I crossed my arms. "That sounds suspicious."
Finn grinned. "It sounds peaceful. Think of it, no fighting, no screaming, just a stroll through nature. It'll be refreshing."
Bran gave his two cents. "Escort doesn't mean there will be no danger. But there is a chance we won't have to fight. If we're lucky."
I sighed. Knowing my luck, there was no chance we wouldn't be involved in a fight.
