NATHAN'S POV
The urge to have dinner immediately subsided. After listening to what Anita said, basically taking my biggest insecurity and putting it out there, where would I have the ability to stomach food?
I returned to the bedroom and collapsed on the bed. Before, it would not have bothered me so much, because I would tell myself that it was asking for too much from a man who didn't love me.
Now he says he loves me.
Would it be asking for too much? Would it be demanding what I cannot have?
The door creaked open and when I turned, I saw Derrick standing by the threshold, holding the door open. He looked at me with something in his eyes that I could not actually place.
It was a mix of guilt, sadness, and desperation. What did this mean?
He sighed before stepping into the room. "Nathan?" He called my name ever so softly, like if he called it any louder, it would break.
"Derrick?" I sat up on the bed.
