Chapter 33
Skylar and Jordan stepped into Jordan's apartment. The silence settled in like dust, heavy and unwelcome. Skylar sighed before turning to him.
"Are you sure we're ever going to find out who actually poisoned Nate?" she asked.
Jordan nodded. "I know it's not now… but in the end, I'm sure we will."
Skylar let her head fall back slightly, frustrated enough to want to slam it into the wall. Just then, Techna came down the stairs, phone in hand, and flopped lazily onto the sofa.
"How's Emma? Is she okay now?" Skylar asked, sitting beside her.
Techna raised an eyebrow, not even bothering to lift her head. "How am I supposed to know? Didn't she leave with you two?"
Jordan and Skylar's eyes widened.
"What do you mean… she's not here?" Skylar asked, her voice rising in panic.
"Didn't you leave her here?" Techna asked, cracking one eye open.
