Skylar and Jordan exchanged a look before both turning toward Techna, who was glued to her dual-monitor setup, fingers flying across the keyboard like a hacker in a heist movie.
Sensing their eyes, Techna stopped mid-click and groaned. "What now?" she muttered without looking.
"We need a favor," Skylar said, her voice gentle—too gentle. Techna stiffened immediately.
"No," she replied flatly.
"You didn't even hear the plan," Jordan said, plopping down dramatically beside her.
"I've known you two long enough to know that if it involves the words 'favor' and 'plan,' then it's trouble," Techna snapped. "So again: no."
Skylar smiled. "We want to use the upcoming government event next Monday to launch NovaX."
Techna froze. Slowly, she swiveled her chair around, eyes narrowed. "You want to hijack a government event…?"
"Hijack is a strong word," Jordan said.
Techna stared blankly. "So is 'normal,' but none of us fit that definition either."
