Ronan's POV
I braced myself against the cabin door as another blast shook the walls. Outside, Darius's men were closing in. Inside, Sienna knelt beside her dying brother, her hands glowing with healing magic that wouldn't be enough.
"How long?" I asked, checking my guns again.
"Minutes," Zeke gasped, the black lines now covering most of his face. "Their first wave won't be wolves."
He was right. I could feel them dark, twisted creatures moving through the trees. Not dogs, not vampires. Something worse.
"Shadow Guardians," I mumbled. The Queen's best staff.
Sienna looked up at me, fear and determination fighting in her eyes. "I can't leave him."
"Then I'll hold them off," I said, putting silver bullets into my gun. "Keep him alive as long as you can."
The moment I stepped onto the porch, memories hit me like a punch memories of Sienna that had been locked away. Us running through a field. Her laugh like sunshine. Her hand in mine.
I shook my head. Now wasn't the time.
