"A day and a half, huh?"
Darius didn't speak at first. He just turned the wood on the pit slowly, watching the flames for a moment before he replied. "Roughly a day and a half. Could be longer. It's hard to tell from inside the ruins."
"I see..."
Darius shifted the skewer but said nothing more in response.
Auri tried to keep himself composed—quiet, thoughtful, maybe just tired. But inside, his thoughts raced.
A day and a half?
Fuck.
Disappearing for a day and a half was not a part of his plan. He only meant to investigate Hawad's disappearance, rescue him from the bandits with Darius' help, and return to their room before daybreak.
Auri didn't plan for delays. He didn't even leave a message or instructions for Wrye to know where he's gone to and how to find him. He was sure Timofey was worried about him now.
Then again, fighting a wind mage, falling in an underground ruin, and getting chased by a giant worm was also not a part of his plan.
