Chapter 42 - Chapter 15: The Pirate Treasure, Part 2

John had been watching Dragon Ball for so long that he completely forgot about the alternate route next to the trap passage. He remembered that Goku had jumped over the trap, so he figured he could do the same.

John took a few steps back, accelerated, and easily jumped over the trap.

"That was easy!" John said with a sense of accomplishment.

John continued forward, and after the rectangular passage, he entered a long corridor made of red bricks. After walking for several hundred meters, the corridor turned into a dark stone passage.

John paid no attention and kept moving forward. Suddenly, he noticed several beams of light shining from the ground, illuminating the cave's ceiling.

As he took a closer look, he realized that the light was coming from the eyes of a pile of skulls. He couldn't understand the purpose of this setup by the pirates.

However, John didn't sense any danger, so he stepped forward, only to find that the ground beneath him gave way.

John reacted quickly and grabbed the edge of the trap, narrowly avoiding falling into the molten lava below.

He broke into a cold sweat, realizing that he could have died a tragic death before even starting his journey. He needed to be more cautious, as he had forgotten many minor details from the Dragon Ball storyline.

John pulled himself up using both hands and jumped back into the passage.

After his close call with the lava, John proceeded with caution, wary of any other traps set by the pirates.

Fortunately, the pirates weren't as cruel as he had imagined. He made it through the entire passage without encountering any more traps and reached the pirates' base, a large hall.

The pirates' base was indeed impressive, resembling a port with a large submarine and several smaller ones docked in the water. There were also supplies stacked on the shore, and an office building nearby.

This indicated that the pirates were a formidable force, rivaling the Red Ribbon Army in strength.

John was delighted to see the pirates' strength, as it meant that their base would likely contain a vast treasure.

However, John didn't rush in, as he vividly remembered from the Dragon Ball storyline that there was a patrolling robot in the pirate port.

The crucial point was that this robot was connected to the base's self-destruct mechanism, and destroying it would trigger the explosion of the entire base.

John carefully observed the entire pirate port and confirmed that the robot was patrolling the area. He just needed to get past its defenses.

Finally, John spotted a passage behind a pile of goods, leading to the location of the pirate treasure.

John quickly rushed towards the passage, hoping to reach it before the robot noticed him.

However, before he could even reach halfway, the sound of machine gun fire erupted, and countless bullets rained down on him.

A tall robot with a long skull-shaped head approached John, lifting its machine gun arm and brandishing a sharp sword in its other hand.

John sidestepped and swept the robot with his leg, knocking it to the ground. He then disarmed the robot, taking its sword.

The robot retreated while continuing to fire its machine gun at John. He dodged the bullets and jumped towards the robot, slashing its machine gun arm with his sword, severing it.

Finally, John delivered a flying side kick, sending the robot flying into the nearby ocean, creating a splash.

After defeating the robot, John noticed that it didn't explode, so he relaxed. He continued towards the passage before the robot could climb out of the port.

John regretted not rewatching the Dragon Ball series before his arrival in this world. He had forgotten about the alternate route and the traps set by the pirates.

Fortunately, the pirates hadn't set any traps in this passage, and John reached the end of the passage with the guidance of the Dragon Radar.

At the end of the passage was a pool filled with seawater, and the Dragon Radar indicated that the Dragon Ball was behind the wall.

John took out the submarine capsule and released a small submarine, which fit perfectly in the pool.

He piloted the submarine through the passage and soon arrived in a cave, much smaller than the pirate port.

In the cave, there was a statue of an eight-armed Kannon, each hand holding a sword.

In front of the statue were three large chests: a gold chest, a silver chest, and a bronze chest. John wondered if they were made of pure gold and silver or just plated.

John transformed the submarine back into a capsule and stepped onto the cave's ground.

Aside from the statue and the three chests, John didn't see any other pirate treasure. However, he was certain that the treasure was hidden somewhere in the cave.

As John approached the statue, its eyes lit up, and its arms began to move slowly.

The swords in the statue's hands also moved, pointing directly at John.

"Swoosh... Swoosh... Swoosh..." Three swords shot out from the Kannon statue, aiming at John.

These attacks couldn't harm John, so he performed a backflip to dodge them. After all eight swords were shot out, the statue returned to its motionless state.

John turned his attention back to the three chests.

He didn't believe that the treasure was inside the chests because he remembered from the Dragon Ball series that the pirate treasure was vast and filled the entire cave.

If the treasure wasn't in the chests, it was likely that they were booby-trapped. Otherwise, the pirates wouldn't have placed them there.
