Her mother caressed her face. Her eyes filled with love and tenderness. Mina let her guard down and softened against her touch.
" My baby. Mommy missed you" Maria said.
Mina choked on her tears. She looked at the two people who had a special place in her heart.
" My baby girl" Edward said, he lifted her and swirled her around. Giggles escaped from her lips. How she had longed for this.
Her father dropped her down gently.
" Are you ready?" he asked her
" Ready for what?" Mina asked with her brows furrowed. She pulled back from him.
"Ready to join us, baby?" Maria said
She stretched her arms to show the light.
" You get to be with us, Mina. You get the life you've always dreamed of. The comfort you've been yearning for and you will be with us once again."
" Really?" Mina asked with a smile.
She looked behind her, and there was nothing but darkness. She doesn't want to go back there. The light looked comfortable. It wasn't only the light. The place radiates the sentiments she had been praying for.
She nodded her head. She was ready.
"I'm ready," she said with a smile reaching her eyes.
However, before she could stretch her hand to her mother, the cry of the baby was heard again.
She placed her hand on her tummy and looked down at her dress. Uncertainty brewed in her heart. Her dress was soaked with scary blood. She looked at her mother.
" What about the baby? Did it make it?" she asked her mother.
" Yes, my darling. She made it. She is healthy and fine."
" She?" Mina asked.
Her mother nodded at her. Maria pointed at a baby. She was tiny, with a tube in her nose. However she was sucking her feet which was adorable. Mina sighed a relief. One moment she thought she had lost her baby but her baby was a fighter, just like her mother.
"I'm ready." she said again. This time she placed her hand in her mother's. The light shone brighter this time and a pathway came to view.
Mina stood in the middle of her parents as they guided her to the other side. The light became warmer with every step they took. The atmosphere felt heavenly. She could live here forever. Mina thought to herself. No more drama and tears. This was what she had been waiting for. A time with her parents and things going back to how they were.
