~ Great Mother's Lair ~
The Great Mother of the dragons was curled up, hiding her face. So many of my children… Dead and gone. Damn that bitch, how dare she kill my children again. Another dragon flew into the lair with a grim expression. "How many was it this time?"
"13 of my brothers and 11 of my sisters…"
"Damn that silver haired bitch!"
"Mother, it's not the elf that's killing them… It's someone else."
She moved a little, an overwhelmingly sickening feeling came over her, and then with an exposed eye she asked. "If it's not that bitch, then who is it? Brightness is strong, but he isn't that strong. For that matter, neither is that damned undead freak."
The younger dragon shivered under his mother's powerful gaze. This won't end well. "It's a group of 8 people that arrived here in this world… They arrived as a result of a truly powerful summoning spell."
The open eye of the Great Mother, widened and teared up. This hell, is my fault. My children have died because I summoned their killers to this world. Damn it, why did it have to be this way?! "We are going to work on getting you all up to par. I'm not sure how yet, but we can figure it out together."
"What about the murderers? What shall we do about them?"
"Ignore them. Stay out of their way. Even if you have to go into hiding. And if you do go out, bring the trouble to that silver haired bitch." Wait a minute that could actually work. Aside from myself, she's definitely the strongest lifeform in the world. "Quickly, take a party and go pay your brother Brightness a visit. We might be able to work together against this foe."
"Uh, yes Mother. But may I ask, why is it we are working with her?"
"She's killed less of my children than the new arrivals. And it's been 100 years since then. Also, a moment ago I sensed that she saved one of my daughters from death's door, that is, aside from Issanth. Which means, she has a reason to fight against these new invaders."
"I see, then perhaps I should change the 11 to a 10. Just, I wonder why she would spare the effort to heal one of our kind. Isn't it odd?"
"It's probably because she wanted answers. Remember, that bitch's children are also your brother's children. That means they are also dragons. These new invaders likely targeted, or tried to target them. I don't pity the fools."
The Great Mother dragon nestled into herself once more, she was still recovering her strength from casting such a massively powerful spell. If it had been my husband that cast this spell, he'd still have at least a quarter of his strength, likely half. Yet here I am, unable to cast it even once without needing a few years to make a half recovery… I can't even conceive right now either. Mountain Dragon Lord was the only viable suitor, now it's Brightness… Perhaps I should focus on keeping my offspring alive so they may take over the population recovery? Doesn't matter either way, lest I can get that silver bitch to no longer be a thorn in my side… Here's hoping that everything works out.
It wasn't too long before the messenger had assembled a party of his brothers. Mother doesn't want any of us to die, but if some of us are going to anyway then it's best my sisters don't take part in excursions outside of safety. "Alright brothers, Mother has given us a task to visit our elder brother Brightness. We are to see if it is possible to work together through this difficult time."
"Can't we just use telepathy to connect to him? We just need to wait for our sister to return. shouldn't be much longer-"
"She is dead. Slain by the hands of the new enemy in this world. We aren't strong enough to deal with them on our own. But there is one… One person whom we know well, she can deal with these invaders."
Knowing the severity of the situation now, this large party of dragons took flight, departing from the safety of their nest. Their destination, the home of their elder brother and his mate, Tus Nadair. They started this journey with 20 of their kind.
~ Tus Nadair ~
The northern side of the nation where Niota often kept watch over, and to improve the land for the people of Tus Nadair. He was still shaken up from the last encounter, so his senses were heightened, allowing him to sense significantly further away. He trembled in place for a moment until a kind and gentle hand swung him around, face planting into a familiar bosom.
"Don't worry too much my precious, Niota, I'm here on time. And I don't think these 15 dragons are here for anything nefarious. At least, that's the sense I get from them anyway, I could be wrong."
Niota nuzzled into his mother, and hugged her back, his trembling slowly fading. "If you're with us mother, I know that none of us would fear any of these bad guys."
"Come, let's choose a place for us to talk with them properly. Oh, and your father is also on his way here."
"Then we have to make sure everything is proper! Mother, can… Can we stay like this for a little longer, I've missed your scent."
"Of course we can, Niota." She kissed her son all over his head. "I love holding all of you. I especially liked watching you all drink from me, so cute."
After a few moments of them enjoying their parent child moment, they went to a large clearing, it was big enough to receive just about 30 dragons if the need arose. Though, it was about to be converted into a farm plot. And sure enough, Brightness arrived first. Shortly after 15 dragons of various degrees of injuries finally arrived, landing with clearly exhausted bodies.
"We made it… Finally…"
"Wow, you saw combat on the way huh?"
"We started out as 20… Those new players, as you call them, are ruthless. It took all of our efforts combined just to kill him…"
"That sounds brutal. I suppose you're all coming here on that old hag's orders, aren't you?"
