Chapter 3939: The Heavenly Void Palace
The Redstone Emperor stared at Lin Moyu in shock, his avatar twisting as if it might collapse at any moment. This showed just how much Lin Moyu's words had shaken him. The current Emperors all knew about the final step, but none had ever dared to take it. As the Discernment Beast had said, the Emperors lacked confidence and were unwilling to risk it; being an eternal Emperor was good enough, so why take the chance?
This was because, in history, some Emperors had tried to make that breakthrough. Some failed and fell silent; others disappeared, never to be seen again, with even the Emperor's position changing hands. This forced the remaining Emperors to wonder if eternal beings truly only fell into dormancy, or if, under certain circumstances, they could actually perish. Otherwise, how could those disappearances and subsequent changes in the Emperor's seat be explained?
The Redstone Emperor believed this deeply. In his understanding, only one person had ever succeeded in taking that half step. But that person's temperament changed dramatically afterward no one knew what he saw or heard. They had once been close friends, but from that moment, everything changed. After taking the half step, he boarded the Ferry of Calamity and never spoke to anyone again. No one who entered the ferry ever returned.
Over countless ages, the Redstone Emperor had tried to board the Ferry of Calamity himself, but always failed. He desperately wanted to know why, what had really happened. Now, Lin Moyu had entered the ferry, returned safely, and even spoken with that person. Thus, the Redstone Emperor pinned his hopes on Lin Moyu, hoping for an answer.
But Lin Moyu's single sentence shook his beliefs: If all those missing Emperors had taken that half step, what had all his years of hesitation been for? Was he just a coward, too afraid to take that step?
Sensing the Redstone Emperor's turmoil, Lin Moyu continued, "You don't need to be so agitated it's just my speculation."
The Redstone Emperor shook his head. "I don't know why you'd say that, but since you did, you must have a reason. I trust you wouldn't speak carelessly. Can you tell me why you think so?"
The Redstone Emperor's tone was still emotional; he even changed how he addressed Lin Moyu.
Lin Moyu looked at him. "Do you really want to know?"
The Redstone Emperor nodded. "Yes, I really want to know. If you have any conditions, just say so."
Lin Moyu smiled. "No conditions. Since you want to know, then see for yourself."
He released his origin aura. The Redstone Emperor's expression changed, and he exclaimed, "Origin secret art!" Many recognize origin secret arts; any Dao Lord would. It was normal that the Redstone Emperor knew as well.
Lin Moyu had always wondered why such a high level art was so widely recognized, even though almost no one possessed it. If no one had it, why did everyone seem to know it, as if it was innate knowledge? He'd even asked the Discernment Beast, but got no answer. It seemed unsolvable, so he set the question aside for the future.
With the Gather Power secret art, Lin Moyu's aura soared, quickly reaching the peak of the Dao Lord realm. At that moment, in terms of realm, he was no weaker than any eternal being or Emperor.
The Redstone Emperor was shocked again; he hadn't expected Lin Moyu to use an origin secret art to raise himself to an equal level. "Origin secret arts are truly wondrous," he sighed then his face changed, his soul nearly collapsing on the spot.
A strange aura rose from Lin Moyu, and his presence shifted, as if he'd entered an indescribable level. The Redstone Emperor forced himself to remain calm, keeping his avatar stable, and said through gritted teeth, "You've actually broken through!"
He immediately noticed something was wrong: Lin Moyu now seemed out of place in this world. Though he was right in front of him, the Redstone Emperor felt that heaven and earth could no longer contain Lin Moyu even that the world wanted to expel him.
Under the Redstone Emperor's gaze, Lin Moyu's soul shattered after just two seconds, turning to dust. The next moment, he was reborn in purple light, repeating the cycle three times before it ended.
Lin Moyu smiled. "Did you see clearly?"
The Redstone Emperor was somber. "You mean those Emperors who took the half step didn't die, but were rejected by heaven and earth and left this place?"
Lin Moyu nodded. "If I'm not mistaken, that's how it is."
The Redstone Emperor asked, "But after leaving this world, where do they go? And what about the Ferry of Calamity?"
Lin Moyu replied, "I don't know the identity of the being in the ferry, but if he can stay here, it must be because of the ferry."
The Redstone Emperor understood. "If it's the ferry that lets him remain, that makes sense."
Lin Moyu was curious. "Who is he, really?"
The Redstone Emperor answered, "He was once the Kunlun Emperor."
Of the Nine Great Spirit Domains, the Void Kunlun is said to be the center, and the Kunlun Emperor the strongest of the nine Emperors.
Lin Moyu muttered, "So the one in the ferry is actually him. That makes sense. Is there a new Emperor in Void Kunlun now?"
The Redstone Emperor shook his head. "No. Of the nine Emperors, only I and the Morning Bell and Evening Drum Emperors are originals. The Xiaguang Great Spirit Domain currently has no Emperor. The Jianmu Emperor is trapped by the Human Sovereign in the Beast Abyss, and his seat is temporarily filled by the Human Sovereign. The Emperors of Tianyu, Tianzhou, and Jin'ge are all second generation Emperors."
Lin Moyu asked, "If you know what the Human Sovereign did, why not stop him?"
The Redstone Emperor replied, "That's the Jianmu Emperor's business. We don't interfere in other domains' affairs. Besides, the Human Sovereign didn't kill him, just trapped him in the Beast Abyss. Honestly, it was his own foolishness."
The Redstone Emperor was blunt, but it was true.
He seemed willing to reciprocate and shared more about the Emperors things most people would never know. As a first generation Emperor, he had lived countless ages and knew much about the Great Spirit Domains.
Listening to him, Lin Moyu finally gained a clear picture of the Nine Heavens Spirit Domains. There was no hierarchy or authority difference among Emperors; each governed their own domain and didn't interfere with the others. But there were differences in strength the Kunlun Emperor was indeed the strongest of them all.
After listening, Lin Moyu asked, "There's a legend about a hidden tenth Great Spirit Domain. Is it true?"
The Redstone Emperor shook his head slightly. "Half true, half false. The tenth is not a Great Spirit Domain, but a palace we call it the Heavenly Void Palace."
