Zed didn't answer his great-grandfather.

He just stood there, frozen, lips parted with a silence that seemed to stretch for far too long.

And then—everything vanished.

The banquet hall, the murmuring nobles, the suffocating aura of the lord of Velmira… all dissolved into smoke.

In their place came the scent of wildflowers and the distant chirps of birds. A forest, lush and alive, took shape around me.

A new memory had surfaced—one Zed must've unconsciously recalled.

He was running.

His speed was unnatural, blurring past trees and tearing through underbrush like a streak of lightning.

"Where's the next target!?" he shouted, a wide grin on his face.

There was no tension now. No hesitation or inner conflict like in the banquet.

Right now, he was excited and feeling alive.

His eyes scanned the forest like a predator, gleaming with anticipation—until they stopped.

"Found you!" he shouted.

Ahead, a towering beast emerged from the huge tree.
