He had white hair, pale eyes, and a body so frail it looked like even a mild illness could take his life. Bones pressed against paper-thin skin.

Despite the weakness his appearance suggested, I couldn't understand the existence before me.

I know there are Ranks above the King-Rank. I recognised that there are those who ascend far beyond the peak of what's known. But this old man—Zed's great-grandfather—was something else entirely.

Even Zed knew little about him. Not his age. Not the true extent of his power. Nothing more than rumors, stories, and fear.

"Sit." His voice cut through the air like a blade—calm, but filled with authority.

Everyone obeyed.

"Thank you for your hospitality and service," they echoed with reverence, and silence fell like a shroud over the entire banquet.

As he lowered himself onto the throne, the rest of the hall followed in unison.

No one spoke.

No one dared to.
