Riding on his black nimbus, Krillin flew down from the sky and into the tiny desolate jungle island. Following the internal compass his system had given him, Krillin quickly spotted a statue with an incredibly large open mouth and entered it.
The very next moment Krillin found himself in an alternate dimension that seemed to be always dark, the atmosphere and environment gave off a spooky feeling and just as he landed on the floor, they began to spawn.
Tiny versions of android 9 and Jackie Chun's began to spawn in, they furiously charged at Krillin with full intent on killing him despite being pint sized.
"The forest of terror, this place only appeared in Dragon Ball Super and forced Goku and Krillin to perfect their ki control. This location taught them them the selflessness state, the technique where you don't waste any Ki and are able to concentrate your Ki to different parts of your body."
This technique didnt raise his powerlevel any but it did prevent Ki wastage, meaning that when he used a ki attack the extra energy that he wouldve regularly gone to waste would go into his attack making it even stronger!
Instead of just mindlessly wasting your Ki when powering up, the Selflessness state prevents ki wastage and concentrates Ki around your fists. In this state it's like punching and shooting a ki blast at the same time, the power behind your attacks are incredible!
Raising his powerlevel to around 500, the tiny illusions grew to 8ft tall and towered over Krillin!
Krillin could easily suppress all of his Ki and make the illusions disappear, but doing so would make him unable to perform in combat. He somehow had to somehow control and contain his Ki so that none leaked out into the forest that turns his Ki into Illusions, but also have it not affect him during combat.
Dodging backwards Krillin was about to launch a punch at Goku but was forced to roll to the right as an illusion Jackie Chun launched a Kamehameha where he once stood. Just as he felt like he had breathing room to counterattack, Krillin saw Olibu and Popo running straight at him!
'I barely have any room to fight back against this onslaught of enemies, let alone time to intensely focus on controlling my Ki! Its like having to play chess while simultaneously perform open heart surgery!'
Krillin had to somehow figure out a way to focus on his ki while he was in mortal combat, he knew this task wouldnt he easy!

Time passed as Krillin trained in the Forest of Terror, days turned to weeks and weeks to months. It had been eleven months since the start of his training at the forest of Terror, his fighting experience had drastically increased but he had yet to achieve that state of perfect Ki control.
Krillin was surrounded in all side by people of his past, hundreds of Roshi and Olibu illusions stayed in the back launching Kamehameha and Sword Ki slashes while hundreds of Goku and Popo charged forth attacking him.
Despite there being over a thousand illusions all attacking Krillin at once, they were only 2ft tall due to Krillin's increased Ki control! Krillins found these mini fighters to be a lot weaker, but much harder to land an attack on.
Constantly dodge the non-stop Ki attacks the illusions threw at him, Krillin began tearing his way through the illusions. His fists were covered in a faint silver energy that completely obliterated multiple illusions with a single punch!
Despite how easy Krillin was defeating them, each destroyed illusion just created another one off in the distance that would soon join the fight.
Seeing the amount of melee fighters kept growing Larger, Krillin decide to take care of them all and buy himself some time to think. He lifted his hand in the air, and a golden disc of Ki began to conjure itself into his hands!
As the ki attack finally completed itself, the sizes of the illusions grew to four feet but it didn't matter!
"DESTRUCTO DISC!" Masterfully controlling his ki, the destructo disc began to mow through the illusion with ease.
Once it cut a straight row through them, Krillin would manipulate it to turn right and cut another row of Illusions. This one attack elimated most of the illusions causing more to be respawn elsewhere, giving him some time!
'Just what am I doing wrong?! I've plateaued with Ki control and can't seem to go any further, is there more to this selflessness state and Ki control that I'm just missing?'
Krillin tried remembering as much as he could from that episode, but couldn't find the reason why the original Krillin could access this state when he couldnt.
'After Krillin asked Roshi for advice on becoming stronger, he sent Krillin here. He ran away from the illusions before overcoming his fears of his pa-' "That's it!" Krillin eyes widened in remembrance.
"This technique is called the selflessness state, beside the Ki control it must also require a certain mentality!" Despite realizing this Krillin was still a bit stumped.
The original Krillin learned the technique after he was confronted with illusions of the people who killed him in the past, only once he accepted that he had grown stronger and let got of that fear, did he actually access the selflessness state!
"I haven't been killed by anyone or have incredibly traumatic fear to overcome like Krillin, how do I reach the same state of mind he did." The dozens of illusions all around him began charging up their Ki attacks intent on Killing Krillin.
"I've learn how to be calm from Annin, I just need to let go all of my fear and become selfless. But i dont have any fears!" Krillin said, unconsciously lying to himself.
Krillins mind subconsciously wandered to all of his worst nightmares, Frieza killing him like the original, Goku dying, realizing his all his hard work was for nothing, but above all only one fear rang true and terrified him to his core... Krillin was worried that one day he'd wake up and this was all just a dream!
The idea that he wasn't actually living in the world of Dragon Ball where he could constantly grow stronger with a clear means of progress, but instead back to his past life living a meaningless life, working a dead end job and living in a cramped apartment.
Krillin took in a deep breath just as all those illusions fired their Ki attacks on him.
'Even if I returned to my past life right now, I'll go back a changed man. I wouldn't sit around wasting away, I would strive to become the greatest, just like how I am now... It doesn't matter if this world is real or fake, it doesn't matter what world I am in, I will always strive for greatness now!' The tenseness that krillin had since day one of appearing in this world completely dissappear.
He exhaled that deep breath as a slow and steady stream of Silver energy began to pour out of him, the enemy ki attacks that were just feet away from his suddenly disappeared as Krillin finally achieved the Selflessness state!
Opening his eyes Krillin looked at the Ki that flowed over his body and coalesce into his fist, he didn't feel a single bit of Ki escaping from him, he actually felt his Ki rising.
"So this is what having Perfect Ki control is like? It like gaining a limb I didn't know I already had."
Krillins mind and body had finally synced together synergistically, not only did this increase his control to it's absolute limit but it also greatly increased his overall Ki.
A profound level of serenity had washed over him, krillin didn't mind if this was all just a dream or real. He would change that which he could, but he accepted that some things are beyong his control.
Hopping on the nimbus, Krillin immediately left this gloomy forest that he already spent 10 months at. Smelling the fresh air and feeling the warm sunlight shines on him, Krillins mind was relieved of all stress.
"There are no more masters for me on earth and ive learnt onw of the three tech iques necasswry for my growth, I guess that means theres two more to go." Krillin had already planned out how he, a mere human, could become a heavy hitter even against the stronger opponents later in the series.
That was by learning all the universal techniques and transformation that boosted the user strength, the selflessness state was the first of three he planned out!
"Less than a year left before the 22nd world tournament, I'll stay on earth until then but after that Im going to hell. I'll have to climb my way up from hell into snake road and towards King Kais... It's best if I just use a ticket so that I won't get lo-" Krillins planning was cut mid sentences as the sky suddenly turned dark!
Krillin involuntarily let out a lighthearted chuckled at the darkened sky.
"The moment I leave the terror of forest and somebody decides to use the dragon balls, talk about tough luck. I'm sure it's Goku excited to gather them to revive that man Bora." Krillin said in a carefree manner.
Krillin didn't know yet, but that was not Goku making a wish. It was instead Demon king Piccolo!
