Chapter 209 - Vegapunk's Dream

"How do you know?"

Vegapunk asked with a serious expression. He didn't think the world government knew about this yet.

Since it wasn't the world government, who could have said this to Kuzan?

Was there someone else spying on him?

Was his life in danger?

Vegapunk wasn't afraid of the World Government finding out about it. Because he knew very well just how far they could go to keep those secrets hidden.

But even he didn't expect someone to find this before he could get a proper start.

He had barely started to learn a few things, but the most important pieces were still locked away in those stones.

He couldn't access them, so his knowledge was limited.

That's why he was trying to build satellites. So while his satellites were doing most of his job, he could find the traces of those stones.

"Someone told me." Kuzan replied and continued.

"Seeing your reaction, he should be right. When Saul was still a part of the Marines, he was my closest friend. After that day, my burning justice changed."

"I didn't understand what was right and what was wrong. Whether my superiors were right or I was wrong. So, I started doing Lazy Justice."

"You don't understand your friendship with Borsalino, Vegapunk."

Just when he said that, Vegapunk shouted.

"You think I don't? You are wrong, Kuzan. I know just how close we are. I know how much it would hurt him if he were asked to kill me."

"But, I can't stop, Kuzan. If I don't do this, who Will? Tell me, Kuzan, when the world is destroyed the next day, when you are doing your job, who will you blame it on?"

"Blame it on those who destroyed it? Or blame it on yourself for protecting it? Be an Avenger? Avenge your destroyed world? Is that what you call Justice?"

Vegapunk sharply sneered before sighing slowly. He walked next to Kuzan and said.

"Humans are inherently curious individuals. They search for more when they seemingly have everything. That's why the first Pirate was born."

"I can't stop my curiosity, but I can at least try to change this world for the better with my knowledge. Kuzan, everything I learned is said to be five hundred years ahead of others."

"But what they don't know is that I am barely scratching the surface of what Ancient people have managed to uncover. Did you see that giant robot when you came in?"

Kuzan nodded his head. He was listening to Vegapunk and did not disturb him because he wanted to know why he was doing what he was doing.

Vegapunk lacked nothing, but he wanted something even greater.

Was it just to fill his greedy heart, or was it for something more? That's what he wanted to know.

"That was a robot from Void Century, the same time when the World Government won a massive war against the Ancient Kingdom."

"They couldn't destroy this giant, and due to the curiosity of Saint Satan, it was kept to uncover its mysteries. Even someone of his status couldn't help but feel curious about this robot."

"Two hundred years ago, it climbed up the Marie Joa for some unknown reason. I have been trying to find out the history of the Void Century."

"Because this is the only way I can make this world a better place. Countless islands will have energy and communication. Countless people will get better education and jobs."

"My knowledge can do all of this."

Suddenly, his spirit went down as he continued.

"But I also know that once I start this search, I am putting my life on the line. That's why I plan to keep this a secret from everyone else. This is why I am confused."

"Why do you know this? If my satellites were ready, it would make sense that they would know, but nobody else was supposed to know this. So, why? Why do you know?"

Hearing that, Kuzan sighed heavily.

Although he feared this possibility, he couldn't help but feel amazed at Liam's information.

Because this was the information that only one person in this world knew. Unless Liam had the power to see the future, it shouldn't be possible to know this.

But he knew. Whether it was through the prophecy or knowledge of the future, Liam knew about this.

He released a deep breath and said.

"Someone said some disturbing things to me. And, he was a pirate nonetheless. It was hard for me to accept it. That's why I came here to confirm."

"Tell me, Vegapunk, is the World Government trying to sink the world?"

Vegapunk looked speechless, especially with his long tongue. He nodded his head, but then shook.

"I am not sure. At least, I am not sure if it was the World Government that did it. I do know that our world is sinking. At least eight hundred years ago, the world had many more islands."

"During that war, some powerful weapons that are now dubbed as Ancient Weapons caused the sea level to rise drastically. That's all I know for now."

Kuzan clenched his fist. Although it wasn't so easy to discard it, he knew he couldn't.

The fate of the world was hanging on this piece of information. Even if there was a slight chance of this being true, he couldn't ignore it.

At this moment, he felt his heartbeat soaring.

His blood boiled, and his mind became more and more clear.

That long-lost burning justice was reemerging in his heart. Even his ice powers couldn't bring the heat down.

"But you still haven't told me who this pirate is."

Vegapunk asked.

Kuzan took a deep breath and said.

"His name is Liam. He is the Vice Captain of the Straw Hat Pirates."

"Oh, that new emperor of the Sea, Monkey D Luffy."

Vegapunk muttered as his eyes lit up.

"Kuzan, I want to meet them."

"What? No? I can't let you. Even if I could, I can't bring them here. This is the property of the World Government. Just because I can accept his information doesn't mean I am at his side."

Kuzan immediately shook his head and replied.

"No, you don't understand, Kuzan. I am not talking about the boy Liam. I am more interested in Monkey D Luffy." Vegapunk replied.

"Why? He is nothing like his father instead, he completely inherits his grandfather's antics and mind." Kuzan looked puzzled as he replied.

Vegapunk took a deep breath and said.

"Kuzan, you don't know this yet, but the fruit that boy ate is not Rubber Fruit. There is no rubber fruit in the Old Devil Fruit Encyclopedia."

"If I am not wrong, the fruit that he ate must be Hito Hito No Mi- Model: Nika. Though he hasn't awakened it yet, so I can't confirm this."

Hearing that, Kuzan's breath stagnated for a moment.

He couldn't help but remember those words.

'Only you can prevent it, Kuzan. Only a Marine can save the lives of those people. In the eyes of the Five Elders, all humans are ants, whether it is you or me. '

'When Luffy awakens, they will strike. That will start a War.'

He clenched his fist and said.

"You might be right, Vegapunk. That guy said it himself. When his Captain awakens, they will start a war. Even though I don't want to admit it, I know those Celestial Dragons treat humans as ants."

Vegapunk released a deep breath, knowing he was right about that fruit.

"Of course, they will. Nika was a monumental figure even before the Void Century. It was said that he would appear before slaves with laughter and joy, saving them from those oppressors."

"Eight Hundred Years Ago, Joyboy must have eaten that fruit. The World Government had been searching for this fruit for a long time, but never got their hands on it."

"Of course, they won't. Every Zoan fruit has a will of its own. For a Mythical Zoan, their Will is even stronger."

"Since the Vice Captain of that group is so confident about his awakening, we have to start preparation for the war. The world government won't let him go."

"And Marines will become their first knife."

Kuzan's eyes narrowed. He clenched his fist and said.

"I won't let them do that. I can't let them do that. That boy might have been a pirate, but he is right about one thing. Only marines can save the lives of ordinary people."

"Even if those guys are good people, they are pirates, scum of the seas. If we let some pirates save the world, how can the Justice of the Marine be preserved?"

Clap! Clap! Clap!

"You are right, Kuzan. Except for very few pirates, every single pirate in the sea is a scum. So, the world shouldn't be saved by the pirates. Because that will lead to more chaos."

A voice sounded from the corner of the room, where a door slowly opened.

"Nice sound insulation, Vegapunk. Next time, try locking the door properly before starting a secret conversation."
