"The author who runs from her own story"
I created a man who could solve anything, a morally gray character who's cold, calculating, mysterious the kind of beautiful that hurts to look at twice, I named him jiang xi...
Well it was a typical crime documentary novel named "A man who never fails", and it was true cause I made him the way he won't fail to solve any mystery, any case he stumbled upon..
At first it was just a story I wrote for fun in my diary, which was just meant for my eyes, I wrote this story after being influenced by several crime documentaries, I would always get furious when I saw that victims died so miserably and the detectives they always came late and some couldn't even catch the culprits. So I decided I would make a story where my character would be totally different from these stories . He would not only solve cases but also save victims and catch various culprits.
So one day my best friend sierra was spending time with me watching another crime documentary and she saw my diary. just when I was not paying attention she read few pages of the story and she said
"Rhea! What is this, when did you started writing?,,
I was startled I said -" Umm, no I didn't started, I wrote that for fun, as I wanted to went my frustration of these dumb detectives in these documentaries we watch,"
Sierra- you said you wrote it just for fun!, but it's definitely good, look here this part, we've watched so many documentaries but I don't remember anything like this how can such case be solved?
But your detective he did it so casually like he was born to do so!
I replied- "that's cause he was really born to do so! "
Sierra- " Why don't you post it!, "her eyes were filled with exitement I've never seen before I thought, she really does think so highly of me so I said - " I understand where you're going but no I have no intention of posting my story online, I wrote it for me you know, to satisfy me"
She snorted- "you really sounds like a jealous woman, seriously you wrote something so good if you don't post it, then it'll be a huge waste of talent, please reconsider and besides I think I already like your character so I also want to complete reading it, that is if you post it online, I think I'll die in peace after I complete this one" She said teasing me..
I said- okay so you think I should post it?
She nodded enthusiastically
-"but you know I have no knowledge in these things , I just wrote one doesn't mean I have a talent for it"
Sierra- "don't worry when you have me, I'll help you, I'll be your manager kind of, someone who looks over posting schedule and audience response etc.,, what do you think? "
-"will you really help me?, do you really think this story have potential? "
She said-" Oh darling, it have way more than just potential, trust me rhea, leave other things to me and you my princess should write this incredible story"she added- " I can't believe you kept this a secret I can't wait to read it as your reader"
I chuckled- " Thanks, you're always so supportive of me I thought that you were just teasing me"
Sierra- " Oh honey why would I tease you, so it's final right we're posting it"
I nodded she hugged me.
That was how a story which was meant to be a secret came to light, soon after I started releasing some parts, people enjoyed it, they even gave me suggestions about how I could make it better,
And so on they liked the character, jiang xi and his skills, they praised him, his looks, his persona, I was overjoyed too everything was going fine, I bought a digital notebook in which I continued the story, whatever I wrote on the notebook would be inscribed on my laptop screen as they were connected, sometimes I typed sometimes I wrote that's how I made every crucial case for jiang xi and then made him solve them with great deduction skills, people enjoyed such things and my novel gained quite a significant amount of audience..
The story was halfway completed after a few months and still trending, there were many comments on every chapter, but one day I spotted some comments asking about the love interest of the ml
One user said-" Isn't he too lonely, yeah he's great and all but shouldn't he have someone by his side, a girl or a boy, I can't see my baby alone everytime, he doesn't even smile, dear author are you deliberately keeping him single? If so please consider giving him a love interest, the story would be more interesting then"
At first I ignored such comments but they didn't stopped every chapter they would demand a fl for the ml I was having a headache,.
Another day I was similarly worrying about such comments with sierra by my side
She said-"don't mind them too much, but to be honest I too think that you should give him a love interest rhea! "
I snapped at her-"what, why how could you say that, the genre will take a 180° if I add a female lead, the story is about crime documentaries sierra, you know it too, if I add a girl, I would have to make her a important part of his life, she will be tangled in his cases, she will definitely come between his work, don't you know that and besides does he have time and luxury to have a girlfriend, I don't think so"
She comforted me nicely-"rhea, I know what you're thinking, I understand you, but they're the audience your fans, would you not listen to them, besides isn't it quite boring if he just solve cases, they want something spice in it, I don't think there's anything wrong with that"
-"I know but how can I change the entire plot, how can I change him, he's not supposed to love anyone and that is his beauty. "
"I know honey, nobody's telling you to change the entire plot but you can gradually add some scenes where he rests, can't you?, "
I thought she was right-" You know I'm weak in front of you, and I listen to you whenever you talk like that ", I said" Huh, okay, I'll think about it, I'll try "
She hugged me again-"I knew you would listen to me thank you"she said smiling, I smiled back..
It was the same night I took out my notebook started writing a scene with a female character in it, but the moment I turned the page I saw the words twisting and turning, changing themselves, dancing on the white paper, and in blink of an eye the contents of the page were rewritten into something I never wrote, at first I blinked thought it might be some bug or the notepad malfunctioned so I opened the laptop, it also showed me those different pages I didn't wrote I tried to delete them, but I couldn't, my laptop it started clicking, showing different colors. I thought it might be a bug cause I didn't wanted to think deeply so I closed both the laptop and the notepad. I slept thinking it might get better next morning.
But to my surprise a new chapter was uploaded, I read the chapter through my phone cause I couldn't dare to open my laptop, my hands shaking after reading the contents, my character, jiang xi, he was doing things, he never done before, going places, he never been before, meeting with people, I didn't created, all the people in comments were confused saying that I must've been trying to add the girl so they cheered for me. But here I was terrified about how did a chapter was written by itself and posted as well. I hastily called sierra I told whatever happened she told me not to panick she told me to take a break from the story that I should visit my relatives in the countryside, she said she was coming to meet me immediately, I was so terrified , I tried to erase the new chapter but it rewrote itself and suddenly my vision blurred or was it that the world blurred.
I don't remember, now I was running, running away from my house cause I saw something, someone similar yet stranger, the shadow of someone I couldn't get who he was but I knew, I knew who he was, the man I created with my own hands!
So I ran, ran and ran for the whole day, I changed buses, every time someone asked where I was going, they thought I was being chased so I hastily said no I'm going to countryside , as I ran and came far away from my house those vision blurring they stopped for a long time, I thought I escaped so I opened my phone to see the story, and there it was a new chapter, my heart sank, my legs gave away I sat motionless on the roadside, reading the new chapter, I was reading when something caught my eye!
Chapter 41- the girl in the ragged clothes, ran, she ran and ran until she reached a certain book store, she entered the bookstore on 2:13 am...
It was currently 2:10 am, midnight, my heart sank further when I noticed the bookstore said in the chapter, at first I wanted to flee again but then I thought maybe I would get my answers in the bookstore, obviously I knew whose bookstore it was I wrote it, it was his, he was there in that bookstore, sitting with a book in his hands reading, I entered the bookstore which was empty, with books breathing and him alone reading a book leisurely!, even though I couldn't see his face I could tell he was handsome, and then he spoke with a voice that made me shudder further!.....
