Not far away, Midoriya Izuku was speaking to Bakugo Katsuki with a worried expression, but Bakugo didn't appreciate it at all. He didn't take Midoriya seriously.
At that moment, there was only one person in Bakugo's eyes—Shin.
There were two reasons he chased after him. First, he had to figure out exactly what kind of technique Shin had used to bring down the sludge villain. Second, one day, he was determined to find an opportunity to stomp this guy under his feet.
...
In truth, All Might had arrived at the scene long before the sludge villain was defeated. But because of his weakened body, he couldn't risk another fight so soon.
Just when he was feeling anxious, he saw that the child who had been taken hostage and the boy who had rushed to help were both walking away almost completely unharmed.
As for the question of who actually defeated the sludge villain, there were many conflicting opinions. Shin and Bakugo Katsuki even tried to blame each other for it.
In this world, that was practically a spectacle in itself.
"Don't worry about that for now," the lead police officer sighed, looking at the crowd with a helpless expression. "Let's just get these two kids home first."
...
Out of protection for minors, the police never revealed any details about Shin and Bakugo Katsuki, so after Shin returned home, no one came to harass him.
The next few days were fairly uneventful. Shin spent them wandering the city, sleeping, and eating.
Finally, when he was about to die of boredom, he received a notice from U.A. High School.
However, the admission date printed on the notice was... ten months later.
"..."
...
At the city police station, everyone was still discussing the sludge villain incident.
Since the villain regained consciousness, he had been behaving like a lunatic—crying and laughing at random—and the police were completely at a loss. The case was stalled.
They pulled Shin's file for review, and when they saw that his registered Quirk was Hypnosis, a lot of their doubts were eased.
Still, because Shin was a minor, after some discussion the station decided to seal the file and bury the incident.
Of course, during that time, several teachers from U.A. also came to investigate. After all, Shin had applied to the school, and they had both the right and the need to understand the whole story.
Naturally, all of this was handled discreetly.
...
Ding dong—
A month later, Shin, who had gotten used to living alone, heard the doorbell ring. For a moment he felt a little out of sorts. It took him a while to react.
When he opened the door, he saw a familiar yet slightly unfamiliar face—Yaoyorozu Momo.
Momo was wearing that same slightly revealing red top, showing off her enviable figure without reservation.
"Haha, looks like I guessed right. You are home." Momo smiled and clasped her hands behind her back. "Shin, are you interested in going to the amusement park together?"
"The amusement park?" Shin was still getting used to her enthusiasm. "Right now?"
"Mm. I arranged it with a bunch of people. It'll be fun. Oh, by the way—did you end up applying to U.A.?"
"Yeah, I submitted my application. I even got the notice, but it's still a while before the entrance exam."
"Your Quirk is Hypnosis, and U.A. focuses a lot on combat power. To be honest, I'm a little worried you'll have a rough time." Momo frowned a bit, sounding genuinely concerned. If Shin ended up failing, she would feel sorry.
"Don't overthink it. The exam is nothing to worry about." Shin gave her a reassuring look, then stepped past her to walk outside. "Didn't you say you wanted to go to the amusement park? Let's go."
"...Alright!"
...
As a recommendation student, Momo had a bright future ahead of her. Her grades were always among the best, and she was known for her high IQ.
During the next eight months, Shin met all kinds of people through her and saw many unusual Quirks.
Momo's parents were also quite kind to him, inviting him over for dinner every few days.
Finally, after a long wait of over eight months, it was time for the U.A. entrance exam.
...
Three days later, 8:40 a.m.
As one of the most famous schools in Japan, U.A. attracted countless applicants.
By the time Shin arrived at the school gate, it was already crowded with teenagers waiting to get in.
"Ah? You're..."
Just as Shin was about to walk inside, a nervous voice called out behind him.
"I think you were the kid who got grabbed by that sludge villain, weren't you?"
"Hm?"
Shin stopped, turning back in mild confusion. His vision was filled with a head of messy green hair.
"Who are you?"
Though he recognized the boy immediately, Shin feigned puzzlement so as not to raise suspicion.
"Hello—I'm Midoriya Izuku. I'm here to take the U.A. entrance exam too." Midoriya looked so nervous he nearly stuttered over his words.
"Good luck," Shin replied, smiling as he gave Midoriya's shoulder a light pat. Then he walked forward toward the gate.
