"Ally dear, you're up. Come."
Alison stepped forward slowly, her heart doing that wild, annoying flutter as her eyes locked onto the boy she thought she might never see again. How did he even know where she lived? She did tell him her hometown, he is here but Alison was still angry.
Damian but she knew him as Damon.
Except now he wasn't Damon from Camp Ravenpine. He wasn't just a boy from a bonfire. He was here. In her father's diner. Smiling calmly, like he hadn't shown her heaven only to vanish and leave her shattered. Alison wanted to scream and punch him but she calmed down
Mr. Fisher didn't notice her shock. He chuckled warmly and patted Damian's shoulder.
"This young man's new in town. Charming fella. Says he's just looking for some peace and a good place to eat." Mr Fisher said as he patted Damian's shoulder
Alison muttered in a low voice but Damian heard her because of his high hearing ability. "He is a big Liar"
Alison started at him quietly, her arms crossed. She said nothing just watched her father talk, and Damian felt her silence like a cold wind. He met her eyes, and she saw it there the guilt. He was sorry, Alison relaxed a little but her anger came back again. Her eyes narrowed.
"Dad, I need to get something from the market."
Damian quickly stood. "I can take you, I have a bike it's fast."
"No," Alison snapped.
Mr. Fisher, oblivious but hopeful, smiled. "Nonsense. Let him take you. Company's good. Go on, sweetheart."
"But dad! I have my bicycle, and he is a stranger" Alison snapped again
"He is a nice guy, don't ask me how I know but he is" Mr Fisher spoke, Alison shocked why is her father defending this good for nothing vanishing liar!. She didn't know that Damian told Mr Fisher about camp, that he liked her and had to leave without goodbye because of family issues though he didn't tell him of his identity. Mr Fisher was angry at first but he was moved seeing that he came to look for her, and now he's helping him work things out with Alison.
Alison didn't argue again. She just turned and walked out. Damian followed.
Damian handed her a helmet and a said, "You look pretty even in helmets. You look good in everything."
She took it silently, climbed onto the back of the bike without a word, and they rode through Cold Valley in silence only the wind daring to speak. Damian wanted to say something but he knew she wouldn't reply back, he knew that he screwed so badly and she was angry.
"Stop there" Alison ordered her voice stern and firm. After he stopped, she climbed down , took off the helmet and went inside the supermarket.
Alison walked ahead, basket in hand. Damian followed behind her like a loyal shadow, quiet but always there following her in every corner.
She picked vegetables, looked at them as she chose which is good.
He stared at her. Lexus making noise in his head
"Speak to her you brat" Lexus snarled
"Shut up you furry thing, can't you see she's mad" Damian snarled back
She moved to the bread stall. He moved with her. Finally, she spun around, her face fuming with anger.
"What do you want from me?"
Damian looked down, sighed. "To talk."
"There is nothing to talk about "
"I know you are angry but we need to talk, I have to tell you what happened. Please " Damian pleaded
They sat on a bench under a tree. People walked by. Birds chirped. But Alison's world narrowed to just him.
He hesitated, then said softly, "I had to leave. Something came up. Family stuff. It wasn't planned. I am sorry, I should have said something"
Alison clenched her jaw. "You! You showed me something beautiful, you said you liked me and even kissed me. Then you disappeared. I woke up and you were gone, Damon. Not even a goodbye."
He stood from the bench and knelt in front of her, right there in public, not caring who saw. People stared, but he didn't care. He only cared about the girl Infront of him, she is the only one who matters in his life now and forever.
"I'm sorry, there's nothing that can justify what I did. But I had to leave, I can't tell you much for now, but if I didn't leave it would have brought a big problem. I was scared of what would happen if I stayed. I didn't mean to hurt you moonlight"
"You did, and don't moonlight me!" Alison crossed her arms
He bowed his head on her lap, "Then let me fix this. Give me another chance moonlight"
Alison weakened after seeing him plead, she wanted to stay angry but now all her anger seemed to have disappeared. She was no longer angry, her heart wanted to forgive him, forget everything and rekindle their relationship. She even wanted to confess,
She stared at him long, lips pressed in a stubborn pout. Then sighed.
"I hate that I'm not mad anymore. I hate that my heart wants to forgive you and forget everything,"
He smiled and gently pulled her into a hug. She didn't hug back at first. Then slowly, her hands wrapped around his back.
"I'm still mad!" She announced
"I know, tell me what do you want? I will do everything to make you happy, just say the word my moonlight"
"I am already happy that you came back"
"I did say I will always find you,"
"Like the prince,"
"Yes like the prince, let's go back" He stood up and carried her
"Hey stop! People are watching" Alison shyly argued
"I don't care about people" He didn't listen and carried her with the basket to his bike, he placed her on the back, put the helmet on her and climbed.
They returned to the diner just before dusk. Mr. Fisher raised a brow as they entered. He noticed Alison's cheeks flushed. Her silver eyes softer and full of light, he was happy they solved out their differences.
He noticed Damian relaxed. Hopeful. Determined and his eyes full of love for Alison, he always wanted this for Alison. For her to find someone who would love her, he wanted for her to always be happy.
"Everything alright?" Mr Fisher asked
Alison muttered, "Fine," and went to the kitchen to put the basket.
Mr. Fisher approached Damian, crossing his arms.
"Has she forgiven you?"
"Yes we talked and she has given me another chance" Damian said with calm certainty.
The older man studied him for a long moment, then sighed.
"She's my girl. My princess. I didn't like when she came home hurt, she cried the whole night. Hurt her again, and you'll deal with me."
"Yes, sir. I promise to treasure her, I won't ever make her cry again"
"Then I'll let you stay around."
"Thank you."
Far away, deep in a dark chamber lit by blood-red crystal light…
Casper stared into a scrying bowl filled with smoky water.
"So this is the girl, she has grown up to become a beautiful girl" he muttered as he watched Alison on the bowl.
"Master, she is the mate of the young prince. He is an Alpha, it will be hard to get her" Fagus said
"I don't care, I took her once from her mother's hand and I will take her from that young prince. I need her so that my plans can work" Casper announced
"The moon Queen has given her the sacred moon tattoo and I think she doesn't know about it yet, the prince took has not told her anything" Fagus reported
"She has awakened the bond mate, and her powers are slowly waking up" Casper said.
"She doesn't even know it yet. But I will guide her… break her… and she will be mine. Through her, I'll tear Varkas off his precious throne." Casper laughed evily
Damian stayed the rest of the evening. Sat in a corner booth, sipping coffee. Watching her as she took orders, flipped menus, rolled her eyes at rude customers. She shined even when she wasn't trying to.
Mr. Fisher slid into the booth.
"So you're not leaving tonight?"
"Not unless you kick me out."
"Hmm. Might, if you don't eat my pie."
They both chuckled.
"You've got my blessing, kid," Mr. Fisher said quietly. "Just don't forget, she's been through more than she lets on. Be gentle with her heart."
"Don't worry Mr Fisher, I will always take good care of her. She is my moonlight"
"The last line was cringe," Mr Fisher teased and they both laughed, Alison came towards them wanting to know what made them so happy.
"What are you laughing about? I want to laugh too" Alison said
"I was telling him of the one time when you didn't let go of the chocolate cake even when you were dozing off"
"Dad! Why would you tell him that, so you all were laughing at me" Alison complained, her lips pressed in stubborn silence.
"No, I didn't laugh" Damian denied
"Traitor!" Mr Fisher said
Later that night, when the town had gone quiet and Alison was fast asleep. A white wolf padded silently outside her window. His golden eyes stared up at the light inside her room.
He didn't make a sound. He just stood there, looking at the window of the room of his moonlight.
"When should I tell her the truth Lexus?" Damian asked his wolf
"Not now, you need to make her trust you completely." Lexus advised
Then, as if satisfied that she was safe, Damian turned and disappeared into the woods. But far from Cold Valley, a storm was already brewing, one with red lips, green cold eyes, sharp claws, and a heart obsessed with power.
